Tie A Bow & Make The Strings Smaller

Tying a bow and shortening the strings is simple.

What is more festive than a well-tied bow? The bow tie, with its air both casual and formal, is a symbol of day-time special occasions. Bows in a myriad of colors and fabrics or finishes, such as satin or grosgrain, cheerfully adorn presents offered for holidays and birthdays. Bows can be placed on trees, on wreaths, at windows, on stair and balcony borders and railings. When you don't want the ribbon ends to trail, take action.

Instructions

1. Have a friend hold down the center of the lace or ribbon with one finger.

2. Grasp both ends of the ribbon, one end in each hand.

3. Fold the left hand lace over the right hand lace.

4. Push the left hand lace under the right hand lace and pull both ends to close the resulting loop. Your friend should now have a single loop of lace around his finger.

5. Form a loop with the lace in your right hand. The bottom of the loop should be very close to your friend's finger.

6. Form a loop with the lace in your left hand. The bottom of the loop should be very close to your friend's finger.

7. Fold the loop in your left hand over the base of the right hand loop and pass it underneath the right hand lace.

8. Pull on each loop to shorten the trailing strings, then tighten the bow at its base to secure the design.
