Bridal Party Hair Styles

Bridal hairstyle ideas

Your wedding day is your big day. Every bride deserves to be the belle of the ball, the star of the show. All eyes will be on you as walk down the aisle. However, you don't want to walk in behind a train of frumpy bridesmaids. Despite what you are asking them to wear, you can give them all great bridal party hairstyles. With today's hair technologies and styles you can accomplish just about any look you like for your wedding.

Updo

Chances are your bridesmaids are an eclectic group of your closest friends each with their own individual looks. This shouldn't hinder you from being creative in your style selections. Updos have long been popular choices for brides who like classic looks. Coordinate your bridal updo with the bridal party. Have bridesmaids wear their hair up in a similar fashion to yours, minus the hair jewelry, crown or headband. They will look like versions of you as they walk up the aisle in their beautiful up-swept hair. The bride's hair could have white ribbon sewn throughout it or tiny seed pearls pinned in. Have the bridesmaid's hair parted to the side and swept back into beautifully pinned curls. An example would be a Claudine style hairdo. This style is elegant and formal. The hair is loosely woven together while its pulled back and hangs low on the back of the head. It's the perfect style for added embellishments.

Consider using hair pieces for girls in your bridal party who have short hair. They can purchase quality hair pieces from local beauty supply stores.

Long Hair

Youthful bridal parties look perfect with long hairstyles. However, either everyone wears long ringlet curls, wavy tresses or straight hair. It might be wrong to insist on the same hair color, but there's nothing wrong with asking that your bridesmaids' long hair be worn the same. For the odd duck in your group with short hair, think about springing for hair extensions; if she's a good friend you could ask her to spring for them and save yourself a few dollars. There is a huge quality difference between synthetic and real hair, so choose the latter. Synthetic hair extensions just look fake and can be damaged easily with hot styling tools.

For a tropical style wedding, your bridal party might wear their long hair in beautiful curls with a tropical flower tucked behind one ear. You could glue a silk flower onto a comb for each bridesmaid to wear.

In Between

Choose an in-between look for a semi-formal bridal hairstyle. Let long hair remain beautifully curled or kept straight, but pull back the sides into an elegant barrette. Bridesmaids' barrettes could be embellished with glittery stones that match the bridal dress. Ask your hair dresser to French braid the top portion of each girl's hair, including the miniature bridesmaids and flower girls. A neat topknot or a bouffant pulled back along the crown would be fun hairstyles. The bouffant style is achieved by slightly teasing the back of the crown to give that area some lift. Smooth pieces of hair are combed over it and sprayed into place.

A topknot is created by separating an even section of hair at the back of the head and twisting it into a ball. Secure the knot with a pin at the back of the head or on top of the head. An in-between style choice could be used on short, medium or long hair lengths.
