Hairstyles For Women With Short Hair

Many women love short hairstyles because they are easy to style and take care of. Busy moms and executives alike appreciate attractive short styles that can be dried and styled in under 15 minutes flat. If you are thinking about going short, take some time to view photos online and consider which short style best suits your face shape.

Bobs

Short bobs are classic rounded hairstyles that can range in length from ear-length to just below the chin. Bobs can be one length all the way around, or they can be stacked and angled so that the front is longer than the back. The front of the cut can be either one length or layered to frame your face. Some people like including long layered bangs, short fringed bangs, or wearing their bobs without bangs. Bobs are also suitable to bold hair color statements achieved through chunky highlights.

Pixies

Pixie cuts are often described as short boyish hair cuts that follow the natural hairline all the way around the head. They are normally shorter on the sides and in the back and a bit longer on the top. Pixies are most flattering for people with small facial features and bone structure. They can be worn shiny and sleek or spiky, chunky and funky. Finely done highlights can help to accentuate either smooth or spiky pixie cuts.

Shags

Short shags range in length from slightly longer than a pixie, to just below chin length. Shags are characterized by chunky layers all around the head. Most shags can air dry for easy care or be blown dry for a sleek look. Hair gloss can be used for an elegant finish, or hair wax can be used to help define layers and create a flipped out appearance to the cut.

Asymmetrical Cuts

Short asymmetrical cuts make bold fashion statements and can help ensure that you stand out in the crowd. Some women have a pixie or short shag on one side of their head and an angled bob on the other side of their head, often accentuated by bold funky hair color. If you choose this type of cut, be sure you have the trendy bold personality and style to go with it, and ensure that it is acceptable in your workplace ahead of time.

Razor Cuts

Razor cuts are similar to shags but the technique is different and the results aren't usually as chunky. Your stylist will use a razor to create smoothly graduated layers throughout your hair. Razor cuts are great for thinning out bushy hair and for creating styles that can air-dry beautifully and be styled smoothly for more formal occasions. Razor cuts can be done on hair that is of just about any length and short styles may resemble anything from a pixie to a short bob.
