The best way to shed those pounds without starving yourself is by following a brown rice fast. Brown rice fasts are great for cleansing yourself of toxins, and the added benefit is weight loss.
Start Your Fast
Make a large pot of brown rice. You also can make brown rice in a rice cooker or buy microwaveable bags of pre-cooked brown rice. Either way works just as well.
During the next seven days, eat only brown rice. If it becomes monotonous, add ¼ tsp. of salt and ¼ cup olive oil to each pot while cooking. They give it a hint of buttery flavor.
When you are hungry, eat only what your two cupped hands will hold. This is usually about 1 whole cup. Experiment with dry rice to figure out how much your two cupped hands will hold by scooping the rice into a measuring cup.
Eat only when the sun is up. Instead of eating after sundown, head to bed. Get plenty of sleep. If you work a late night shift and eat during the night, then eat under artificial sunlight. This helps to boost your metabolism.
Drink plenty of water, but don't overdo it. The average person should drink about 64 ounces of water a day.
Occupy Your Mind
If you feel the urge to eat something other than brown rice, find a way to entertain your mind. Walking is a great activity for this. Finding something to keep your hands busy also helps to entertain your mind. Activities such as knitting, writing, drawing and puzzle games will help you focus on something besides wanting to eat.
