Oster clippers are a line of professional hair trimming tools for animals. Because they can become clogged, the clippers require proper maintenance to cut effectively, including regular cleaning and frequent oiling of the clipper blades to prevent the metal from wearing down. In addition, the company manufactures a specialized solution, called Kool Lube, which should be applied to the clippers to prevent them from overheating when used for extended periods of time.
Instructions
Cleaning the Oster Clippers
1. Place the blade in a shallow bowl and fill the bowl with Oster Blade Wash cleaner until the fluid rises above the cutting blade.
2. Plug the Oster clippers into an electrical outlet, if applicable, and turn the clippers on.
3. Leave the clippers on for 30 to 60 seconds and listen to the sound they make during this period. As the debris is removed from the clippers, they will get faster and have a higher pitched sound.
4. Turn off the clippers and remove them from the cleaning solution.
5. Dry the clippers thoroughly with a lint-free cloth.
Oiling the Oster Clippers
6. Move the top blade of the Oster clipper to the left or to the right as far as it will go manually.
7. Examine the bottom blade, which should now be easily visible, and locate the metal running rails underneath it. There are two running rails at the bottom of the blade that it slides across as it moves.
8. Place one drop of blade oil onto each rail.
9. Plug the Oster clippers into an electrical outlet and turn them on.
10. Hold a can of Oster Kool Lube spray approximately 6 inches away from the blades and spray each blade two to three times using side-ways strokes. Turn the Oster clippers off.
