Create Wavy Hairstyles

There are a lot of hairstyles you can create with a few basic tools.

It is simple to create lots of wavy hairstyles without the assistance of a professional hairstylist. With a few basic styling tools, including a curling iron and some hairspray, you can create stunning updos or loose flowing curls. It is easier to curl your hair when it has not been freshly washed, so avoid washing it on the day you want to wear your hair curly. Experimenting with your hair is the best way to figure out what curly styles suit you and your face shape.

Instructions

1. Brush your hair to untangle any knots. Apply a heat-protection spray to your hair, paying particular attention to the ends. A heat-protection spray will form a barrier between the direct heat and your hair to prevent damage.

2. Take 1-inch sections of hair and wrap around your curling iron. The longer you leave your hair around the iron, the tighter the curls. For loose waves, leave the curling iron on each section for a couple of seconds and then release.

3. Twist the curl around your finger when warm to help the curl set and last longer throughout the day.

4. Repeat this process all over your head. Separate your curls by tilting your head upside down and running your fingers through your hair.

5. Finish with a flexible hold hairspray and add a hair slide or hair band, if you want to wear your hair loose.

6. Scoop your hair up into a ponytail if you prefer to wear your hair up. A wavy ponytail looks relaxed for daytime activities. Secure with a hair elastic and wrap a small section of hair around the band to conceal it and pin the section in place with a bobby pin.

7. Take the length of the ponytail and lightly twist into a bun shape. Use bobby pins to pin your bun into position. With your fingers or the fine end of a comb, tease out strands of your hair. A loosely curled bun is a simple and chic way to wear your hair for evening occasions.

8. Add volume to side sweeping bangs with a large roller. Leave the roller in while you finish getting ready. Remove and separate bangs with your fingers to blend in with the rest of your waves.
