Celebrity Red Carpet Hairstyles

Taking inspiration from celebrity red carpet hairstyles is the perfect way to find a new look for your own special occasion, such as a prom, birthday party or wedding. Although celebrities may have an army of stylists and lots of cash, many of the looks spotted on the red carpet can be achieved at home with a little practice. The hair trends spotted on the red carpet vary from sleek and long to short and cropped. When taking inspiration from red carpet hair, look at a celebrity who has a similar hair length and texture to your own.

Curled Side Ponytail

Miley Cyrus has often been seen wearing a curled side ponytail with sweeping side bangs. This look perfectly accentuates a strapless or one-shoulder dress and is simple to achieve yourself with curling irons and a hair elastic. To achieve this look, begin by splitting the hair into small, 1-inch sections. Individually curl each section of hair by spraying the section with a heat protection mist and wrapping the hair around a heated curling iron. Repeat this process until all of the hair has been curled, adding hairspray to your curls as you go. Sweep all of your hair to one side and secure it in a ponytail with an elastic. Arrange the pieces of hair around your face into a position you are happy with. Finish the look with serum or shine spray for glossy curls.

Asymmetrical Crop

An asymmetric crop with choppy layers and long bangs is the staple red carpet look of Rihanna. Short hair does not have to be dull, and lots of choices are available when it comes to styling ideas. Inject glamour into long side-sweeping bangs by using a large roller to create volume and waves. Bring out your hair's natural texture and enhance your choppy layers by using hair products such as wax or hair clay. Rihanna also experiments with bold hair colors, such as black, vixen red and bright blonds; the use of a different hair color can instantly transform your short hair for a special event.

Bohemian Style

Lauren Conrad is famed for her laid-back, boho, Californian style. Lauren is often seen with tousled hair pinned up or wearing a braided headband. For a pinned-up look, curl all of your hair using a curling iron and braid random small sections around the crown. Separate your hair into sections about two inches thick each and pin them to the back of your head in a loose bun using bobby pins. The style should look "undone" and not too neat. Leave a few loose strands free at the front of the hair to frame your face. To create a braided headband look, simply braid a section of hair from behind one ear across your head to form a headband and secure the braid behind the alternate ear using a bobby pin. The remaining hair can be curled, straightened or put into a side ponytail.
