Spooky Hairstyles

Stressful day at work? No it's a zombie queen in need of a brain!

Halloween is the one day a year when everyone gets a chance to dress up. Make up, fake blood and a perfect outfit can't quite make the whole look; any great Halloween outfit needs some spooky hair. Bride of Frankenstein, Medusa's snakes or a zombie are all spooky characters with unique hair styles that can be easily created for Halloween or any dress-up event.

Bride of Frankenstein

Crimp the hair using a crimper, popular in the 1980s but still available at many stores. Once the hair is crimped, flip the hair upside down and apply a lot of strong hair spray until the hair feels almost hard. Flip the hair back up, and starting at the front section, tease the hair up and back into a point. This will take a lot of time and a lot of hair spray. To tease hair, hold it straight up by the tips and, starting half-way up, comb backward to the roots. Once the hair is in the signature cone shape, use white hair paint to create two lightening-bolt streaks on either side of the head.

Medusa

Medusa is a well-known figure from Greek mythology. Legend has it that Medusa had snakes coming out of her head and anyone who looked into her eyes would turn to stone. Rubber snakes can be found at many toy stores or joke shops. Make sure to buy thin snakes because bobby pins won't hold anything very thick. Curl the bottom part of the hair into long spirals. The top half of the hair should be pinned to the head. Using extra-large bobby pins, pin the snakes to the top portion of the head. Some shorter snakes can be pinned by only the tail so the snakes will bounce and look alive while walking.

Zombie hair

This spooky hairstyle works for both men and women. Start off with hair that hasn't been washed in a day or two, so the baby powder will stick to the hair more easily. Squeeze three large puffs of baby powder on top of the hair and rub the powder into the scalp. Continue to alternate putting more baby powder into the hair and rubbing it into the scalp to make the hair look gray/white.

Dracula

The original Dracula had very slick shiny hair. To achieve this look, use a hair grease and comb approximately half the hair forward and and half the hair back. Use a comb, or fingers, to shape the front of the hair into a point in the middle of the forehead.

Spiral Perm Rolling Technique

Curly hair often appears to have more volume, movement and bounce, creating a highly desirable style. Using hot rollers and curling irons every day, however, can be tedious. Stylists often use spiral curls as a perm technique for longer hair to create springy, twisting, corkscrew-like curls. Get the right look with spiral perm rolling techniques that create perfect curls and eliminate the need for special curling equipment.

Properly Preparing Permed Curls

Not all hair can be successfully permed with spiral curls (or any other type of curls). It's important to prep hair before you use any perm technique. Dyed hair, for example, often does not perm well, so apply the perm before the color. Use a nutrient-rich conditioner on fresh, clean hair just before the permanent curl procedure.

Equipment for Spiral Curls

You can achieve the look of spiral curls by using vertical rods rather than horizontal. The long, thin vertical rods are a must-have item for creating a spiral curl perm on any type of hair.

Create Permanent Spiral Curls

It takes approximately two hours to fully apply any perm technique to hair to create spiral curls. Choosing the rods is the most important part of the technique. Thinner rods create tighter, smaller curls; fatter rods will make looser spiral curls. The curling rods should be long and straight, applied to the hair in a vertical position to create the desired spiral result.

After you've washed and prepped the hair for the permanent curl procedure, begin curling sections of hair around the rods. Choose a section of hair to create one curl at a time, tightly wrapping the length of hair completely around the perm rods.

Apply permanent lotion to lock in the curl, following directions on the bottle. After the time listed on the lotion bottle has elapsed, unwind and thoroughly rinse each curl. Apply the neutralizing lotion to finish setting the curls.

Spiral Curl Perm After-Care

Even using the proper perm technique won't keep your spiral curls looking great if you don't pay attention to after-perm hair care. Don't wash hair for two to three days after getting a spiral perm, and avoid applying heat in the form of blow dryers and curling irons to permed hair. Avoid using bleach on permanent curls, and wait at least one week before applying hair color. Use styling and shampooing products that are specially designed for permed hair.

Crazy Hairstyles For Girls

Crazy Hairstyles For Girls Biography
The Mohawk has been a hairstyle for many different cultures. American Indians adopted a version of the Mohawk, which was known as a roach, to identify with their tribes. In modern times, the Mohawk has been worn as a symbol of independence from mainstream society, which is evident within the punk rock community.

There are different levels of Mohawk intensity. The traditional Mohawk is quite boisterous in appearance. To accomplish this look, closely shave or trim the hair along the sides of the head, but allow a strip of hair to grow from the crown of the head to the back of the neck. Using a firm-hold styling gel, spike the strip of hair vertically. This hairstyle can be transformed into a dramatic look by dying the ends of the hair vivid, bright colors, such as red, orange or pink.

Gothic Frizzed Hairstyle
Gothic hairstyles are the merging of different social cultures, which include punk and emo. The styling of gothic hairstyles does not fit into the mainstream culture of proper hairstyling, and the main goal of those who adopt this look is to seem mysterious and dark. For men, gothic hairstyles can highlight their personality as one who does not give in or even care about mainstream media acceptance.

To adopt the classic gothic male hairstyle, the hair must be grown to at least 8 inches from scalp to tip. After the hair has reached its ideal length, use a flat-iron to straighten your bangs and position them to either frame the eyes or fall over the eyes for a more dynamic appearance.

With a comb grab a section of hair that measures 3 inches wide. Holding the tip of the hair with your fingers, use the comb to slightly tease the hair so it looks frizzed; repeat this process until the entire head, minus the bangs, is bellowing out. Press down the sides and back of your hair so that it slightly frames your head. With ultra-hold hairspray, douse the hair to ensure it does not move out of place. To add a dramatic appearance, dye your hair jet black and add deep blue lowlights.
