Outdoor witch
Decorating the outside of your home for Halloween is a good way to kick off the holiday season. Witches, ghosts and skeletons tell the neighborhood you're in a festive mood. You can make simple outdoor Halloween decorations with items you can find the around the house.
Instructions
1. Chair
Find a location for your outdoor witch, and place the armchair in that location. The chair will be used as the body underneath the witch's dress.
2. Stick
If your witch will be in the grass, stake your wooden stick into the ground. Use duct tape to secure the stick to the back of the chair. The top of the stick will be used to mount the head of the witch and should be a few inches taller than the back of the chair.
3. Witch's head
Create the head of the witch by wadding the newspaper into a large ball. Test the size by placing the witch's mask on the newspaper head. Remove the mask and wrap the head with duct tape. Create an opening in the bottom of the head for the stick. Put the mask, hair and hat on the head and set it aside.
4. Long-sleeved dress
Put the dress over top of the chair and stick to create a full-body effect. The dress should be large enough to cover the chair and reach the ground. The stick should be 3 inches to 6 inches taller than the top of the dress. Secure the dress by taping the inside of the dress to the chair.
5. woman's cape
Create a witch's cape by cutting a 1-foot opening in the bottom of a garbage bag. Make another cut from the top of the bag diagonally to within 2 inches of the bottom. The top of the garbage bag becomes the bottom of the cape when turned upside down. Put the cape over top of the dress and cover the shoulders with the cape.
6. gloves
Pin the gloves to the bottom of the sleeves of the dress to give the illusion of arms and hands. Tape one of the gloves around the broom stick to create the look of a hand holding the broom.
7. Put the head of the witch on top of the stick and secure it with duct tape.
