Make Bracelets Out Of Hair Ties

Wearing hair ties as an accessory is a trendy, and utilitarian, method of putting your hair bands on double duty. Home made hair tie bracelets are an inexpensive way to glitz up any outfit, while also ensuring that you have a cute way to keep hair out of your face. Various styles of hair tie bracelets can be made completely from scratch, or using pre-made hair ties that are available at most any retailer for only a couple of dollars and in a range of fun colors!

Making your own hair tie bracelets

1. Measure the circumference of your wrist. Use this measurement to determine how long the hair tie lengths should be, and remember to add one to two inches so that there is sufficient room to tie a knot. Cut elastic, which can commonly be bought at craft stores in various widths, into pieces that coincide with your measurements.

2. Draw designs, pictures or letters onto the elastic lengths using fabric markers to create a distinct look and style.

3. Tie the two loose ends of the elastic piece together using a basic, secure double knot. A small tail will exist below the knot, which can be left in place or cut off depending on personal preference. Place the bracelet on your wrist, with the elastic laying flat for a trendy bracelet, or use the tie to keep hair up and out of the way.

4. Select a hair tie and assortment of beads or charms that create a color scheme and style that you like.

5. Thread a needle and run the thread through the hole of a bead, or eye of a charm, that will be attached to the hair tie. Loop the thread through multiple times to create a strong bond. Stitch the bead or charm onto the hair tie by running the needle through the center of the hair tie and back through the opening of the bead several times. When the bead is securely fastened, tie off the thread. Repeat this process until the hair tie has been decorated to your liking.

6. Create simple hair tie bracelets by tying short lengths of tulle, or other fabric pieces, directly onto a pre-made hair tie. The end result will be a circular band with an array of loose fabric ends for a whimsical, fun look.
