Kid'S Party Hairstyles

Gather your styling tools to give her a special hairstyle for the big event.

If your child is excited for a big party, whether it is for school, after a wedding or for the holidays, help them dress up with a great hairstyle for the event. Choose accessories like barrettes or headbands to add to any fancy party hairstyle and keep long hair out of little faces while they run around, dance and enjoy the party.

Braids

There are many different types of braids, so choose the one best for your child's hair type and length. Braids are perfect for pulling long hair of of your daughter's face and you can even weave in ribbons or flowers or add barrettes or other hair clips to make this party hairstyle even fancier. Style your child's hair into two braids, pull back just the top of her hair, or pull just the front piece of her hair into a small braid. French braids keep hair securely off your child's face and can be tied with a ribbon or fancy hair tie. For a truly regal party hairstyle, try a crowning braid, a french braid that wraps from ear to ear across the crown of your child's head.

Ponytails

A ponytail doesn't have to just be for soccer practice. Pull your child's hair back into a smooth tail to keep it out of her face while helping her look stay neat no matter how exciting the party gets. Dress up a simple ponytail by curling the ends with a curling iron or wrapping a ribbon around the hair tie. Part hair down the middle and pull into two ponytails to make pigtails either high or low on the head for an adorable look for little girls. Experiment with a small pony tail using only the top half of hair or twist the ends of a ponytail into a neat bun adorned with a flower or bow.

Headbands

For a little girl who won't tolerate a lot of time in the styling seat, choose a headband to smooth her hair back from her face and keep her looking neat during the party. Headbands come in many variations, including leather, stretchy fabric, unadorned, and decorated with flowers, butterflies and jewels. Headbands work for straight or curly hair, and long or short hair, so find one that matches her party dress and enjoy all the extra time you saved with this quick and easy party hairstyle.

Boys' Styles

No matter what length of hair your little man has, try a little hair gel for a special party 'do. Spike up that cowlick or gel hair into a side part for shorter hair. For longer tresses, slick hair straight back and down. Little guys with curls probably just need a good wash and a little bit of gel to bring out some fancy party ringlets. For funkier parties, consider gelling boy's hair into a "fauxhawk," by sweeping the hair straight up to the middle to mimic a mohawk style.
