Whether you have curly hair or want curly hair, hair products designed especially for curls are essential to enhancing those spirals and waves. Curly hair tends to frizz, particularly in humidity, without something to tame it into submission. There are numerous products on the market for curly hair, so how do know which ones really work? These products will define your curls and help add some even if you do not naturally have any.
Curl Locking Styling Sprays
Curl locking styling sprays, such as TREsemme curl locking styling spray, coax hair to curl tighter than ever before. Curly-headed users will find that their curls will be ultra defined and frizz-free, whereas wavy-headed users may appear to have upgraded to a perm. Even those people with stick-straight hair will experience at least a few waves if not curls---depending upon how susceptible their hair is to curl.
If you have curly or wavy hair, simply shampoo and condition your hair as usual. Towel-dry your hair, and while your locks are still damp, squirt the curl locking spray onto your hair, scrunching as you do so. Style your hair and allow it to air-dry or blow-dry it with a diffuser. Mist your dry curls with hairspray to hold your style. This technique will allow the style to, essentially, "dry" into your hair, which will keep your curls or waves from frizzing and grant you total control and manageability over your mane.
If you have straight hair, begin by following the technique for curly and wavy hair, and note your results. If your hair accepts curls or waves that you are satisfied with, you may stop the styling process. If the results are dissatisfactory and you would like more curls, proceed to curl your hair with a curling iron by spiraling strands of hair around the iron. The curl locking styling spray will help your hair accept heated curl, offering you tighter results that will last longer.
Curl Mousses
Curl mousses, such as VO5 Curvaceous Curls, will also lend your hair a power boost. These products work similarly to curl locking sprays---only you squirt the foam onto your palm and then apply it to your hair, rather than squirting it directly on your hair. People with curly or wavy hair can follow the same technique as that for applying curl locking spray to their hair. There is a difference in how straight-haired people should use curl mousse, though.
Rather than applying curl mousse to your hair in the same fashion as you would curl locking spray, apply the curl mousse to your hair while it is damp, but do not dry it. Roll your damp hair in nickel or quarter-sized soft, foam rollers and sleep in them overnight. You may mist your rolled hair with hairspray if you wish. Allow your hair to dry in the rollers overnight, and unroll it in the morning to reveal gorgeous curls or waves. Curl mousse tends to be more effective on straight hair if employed this way.
