Choose Cheerleading Hairstyles

As a cheerleader you have a lot to think about when preparing for games and competitions: performance, health and style. Your squad may choose to wear the same hairstyle or mix it up to show the members' individual personalities, but either way, your cheerleading hairstyle is an important element in your performance.

Instructions

1. Create the classic cheerleading ponytail that everyone associates with the sport. Use volumizing mouse and blow dry your hair, pulling it into a really high ponytail on top of your head. Secure it with a hair band, add a ribbon or a headband and you're finished.

2. Choose pigtails for another classic look. Wear them high up on your head like the classic ponytail and add ribbons that match your uniform .

3. Add spiral curls to your ponytail or pigtails for added interest. Use a flexible hairspray to make sure your hair stays curled in place as you run, jump and cheer.

4. Incorporate braids into your cheerleading hairstyle. Braid small strands into your ponytail or try cornrow braids for a different look. Low pigtail braids work well with ribbons weaved in with the strands.

5. Purchase hair extensions and add-ons to add length or volume to your hairstyle. You can find spiral curl add-ons for ponytails and pigtails as well as waved styles and straightened volumizing pieces.
