Crazy Days Theme Ideas For Preschool

Crazy Days Theme Ideas for Preschool

Themed crazy days at preschool add fun to the school day. They work well to celebrate an upcoming event, to complement the preschool curriculum or just for fun. Dressing up to match the theme of the day is a typical component of the crazy day activities for preschool students. The daily activities also relate to the theme in some way to make the theme more fun for the students and teachers. The themed days give everyone a break from the normal routine and make some great memories for the school year.

Backward Day

The kids do everything backward on this themed day. Turning their shirts backwards and wearing a hat backwards are simple ways the kids can dress for the day. The normal preschool schedule also gets turned upside down, starting with your end-of-the-day routine and working backward to the normal opening activities.

Pajama Day

A pajama day lets the kids show off their favorite night time clothes. Pajamas, robes and slippers are good suggestions for the preschool students to dress for this crazy day. The kids can also bring in a blanket, pillow or favorite stuffed animal to emphasize the pajama day theme. This preschool crazy day goes well with a movie day because the kids can cuddle up in their pajamas to watch the movie.

Crazy Hair Day

The creative hairstyles on crazy hair day give everyone a good laugh. The kids are invited to come to preschool with their hair in a crazy or unusual style. This might include several ponytails all over the head, spiked hair, messy hair or temporary spray hair color in bright colors. The kids can show off their crazy hairstyles in a runway show where each child walks in front of the class, fashion show style. A children's book called "Crazy Hair Day" by Barney Saltzberg works well on the themed day.

Silly Hat Day

Silly hats make everyone smile, making them a fun theme for the day. The kids can wear a silly hat from home, or the class can make silly hats from construction paper. Hats might prove distracting for some preschool kids so this is a consideration when adding a silly hat day to the crazy theme line up.

Hero Day

Preschool kids look up to many different types of heroes. They might choose a superhero character from a comic book, a movie character, a sibling, parent or community helper such as a police officer. The kids dress up as their hero for the day. They also get the chance to share the identity of their heroes and explain why they chose that person as the hero for the crazy day activity.

Beach Day

An indoor beach is a great way to warm up in the middle of winter. The kids get to wear their favorite summer gear over their warmer clothes. Another option is to let them change into their beach gear once they're inside the warm classroom. Beach-themed activities such as a pretend beach, sand in the sensory table, beach ball play, limbo and beach crafts carry the theme to the curriculum.
