Sharpen Andis Clipper Heads

Sharpen your clipper head to improve the quality of the cut and extend your razor's life.

Andis has been manufacturing professional quality clippers and trimmers since 1922. According to the manufacturer, the company makes "the majority of clippers in the U.S." The company sells numerous lines of clippers for everything from professional barber kits to home haircutting clippers. Sharpening your clipper head can greatly improve the quality of the cut as well as prolong the lifetime of your Andis product.

Instructions

1. Ensure your clipper is powered off. Clean the blade thoroughly using a soft cloth.

2. Remove the blades by unscrewing the screws attaching them to the motorized body of the razor. Place all of the blades on a table. Re-attach the moving blade on its own to the springs of your Andis.

3. Power on your clipper. Get your blade sharpener and gently apply pressure on the clipper blade while slowly moving it up and down. Sharpen until the teeth of the blade shine and look sharp. Touch the teeth gently to ensure sharpness.

4. Dismantle the guide from the blade, then unscrew the guide blade. Manually run the guide blade up and down your blade sharpener for approximately one minute. When the desired sharpness is attained, screw the guide back into the guide blade.

5. Reassemble your Andis clipper by screwing all of the blades back into the clipper. Ensure the blades are adjusted by making sure the teeth of the blades line up before you tighten the screws.

6. Power on your clipper and ensure the blades are functioning correctly before cutting hair.
