Dark Angel Halloween Hairstyles

Gothic hair is perfect for a dark angel.

Temporarily dark, gothic hair is the final touch on a dark angel costume. This type of costume usually involves a dark dress and wings; it's the antithesis of the lighter, heavenly angel. The dress might be long or short. Add some pale makeup, black nails and dark red lipstick. Put your teasing comb into action to take your costume to the next level.

Color

The classic color for a dark angel costume is black. If you don't have naturally raven hair, buy spray-on color to darken your locks for Halloween. A streak or two of bright pink, blonde or blue-black are also appropriate for the costume. They're available where Halloween costumes are sold as spray-on or brush-on products.

Volume

With a dark angel costume, go big when it comes to your hair. Even if you choose a long, sleek style, brush back the top of your hair for volume. Hold on to a piece of your hair and brush toward your scalp. Once you've ratted your hair into a huge mass, brush the top levels to smooth them and give them style. Crimping is another way to add volume.

Length

If your ideal dark angel has long, Rapunzel-like locks, buy temporary, clip-in extensions. Get them in the color of your temporary dye. Alternately, dye your hair black and buy brightly colored extensions. Extensions add volume if you're hair is fine as well. It's okay to go over the top and use lots of fake hair to complement your costume.

Styles

Several styles look great with dark angel costumes. Long, straight dark hair is one idea; think Morticia Addams. Go for the good-girl-gone-bad look, with dark ringlets and streaks of pink. Try dark hair with fake extensions or falls in a bright pink color.
