Cut A Lace Wig To Fit Your Hairline

Be patient when fitting a lace wig.

Lace wigs and lace front wigs have made wearing these hairpieces much more comfortable. Unlike with nonlace wigs, the holes in lace allow air to circulate. They also allow the user to personalize the look of the wig, including trimming the hair itself into a particular style and trimming the hairline of the wig's lace to make it fit the user perfectly. Like most hairpieces, these wigs are an investment piece running several hundred dollars, so personalizing the wig should be done carefully and with precision.

Instructions

1. Secure your hair away from your face with bobby pins and make sure your actual hair is not visible when putting on the wig. If your hair is visible when you are looking to decide where to cut your lace wig, you could make an error and over- or undercut.

2. Put your lace wig on your head in the position you intend to wear it most often. Take note of how much you need to trim off the front of the lace wig to match your hairline. You can either mark the area where you need to trim with a pen the same shade as the wig, or you can count the number of holes in the lace at one section to know where to start trimming.

3. Practice cutting with some new scissors. New scissors will provide the most exact cut and smoothest motion, according to LaceFront-Wig.com.

4. Trim small amounts of the lace wig away from the hairline. Start with small amounts, and try the wig on between each small trim. This will help you avoid trimming too much off the edge of the lace wig when matching it to your hairline.
