Modern Hairstyles For Short Hair

Short hair is more popular than ever thanks to a slew of celebrities and models sporting smart short dos. Get that Hollywood or runway look with a short modern hairstyle that will turn heads on the street. The beauty of a short hairstyle is that most styles don't require a tremendous amount of maintenance. Utilize hair gel, pomade, hair brush, hair dryer and hairspray to get the right look.

Short Spiky Bob

The short spiky bob is a good look for just about any occasion. It's easy to dry and style and is suitable for most face shapes. Ask your stylist to stack your bob extra high in the back and cut your sides and bangs in an angle for a layered, modern look.

Style your cut using hair gel and a hair dryer. Wash your hair, then rub a dime-sized amount of gel between your palms. Drag your finger through your hair and coat your entire head with the gel. Towel dry your hair and allow it to air dry for a few minutes.

Dry your hair with the hair dryer and flip your head upside down to get the sides and front. Use a large round brush to guide the ends. Rub a small amount of pomade in your palms and run your fingers through your dried hair. Emphasize your layered ends with the pomade to accentuate the jagged, razor cut. Lightly spray your hair with hair spray.

Short Back Long Bangs

Short hair in the back with long bangs looks great on women with strong features and jaw line. Accentuate your long bangs with bright, chunky highlights for a more modern, updated effect.

The back of your hair should be only a quarter of an inch long. Keep the sides a little longer and keep the top of your hair from the crown forward, long and layered. Let your bangs grow as long as chin length. If you like shorter bangs, cut them no shorter than nose length and layer them.

Style this 'do using pomade and a hair brush. Rub a dime-sized amount of pomade between your palms and apply to dry bangs. Run your fingers through your bangs several times, drawing them forward. Sweep your bangs over to one side once the pomade is fully applied and lightly spray with hairspray.

Super Short Pixie Look

This short sophisticated style is easy to style and maintain. A good stylist who can provide you with a professional cut is key to making this style work well.

Your hair should be cut approximately two inches to an inch and a half around your head. Your bangs should be kept short and spiky and your stylist should layer this cut around your head.

Style your snappy cut using stiff hair gel. Wash and towel dry your hair. Your hair will dry fast because of the short length. Rub a dime sized amount of stiff hair gel between your palms and work both hands through your entire head. Working quickly, pinch your layers between your fingers and pull them outward and upward to lift the cut and add body.

Flip your head over and run your fingers through the back and underneath your hairline then use a soft brush to tame and direct hair pieces off to the side to give the cut a wind-blown look.
