Make A Felt Flower Pin For A Hat

Felt is a colorful and inexpensive craft material to use for flowers.

During winter, wearing a warm hat becomes a necessity, and so does keeping the hat on your head. The wind can easily blow off a hat, so a pin is a good idea. A crafty way of adding color to winter clothing is to customize the hat pin with a small felt flower. These are easy to make and can be color coordinated to match the hat or other clothing.

Instructions

1. Draw a 3-inch wide, six-petal flower on a piece of felt using the fabric pen. Repeat this on a different color felt, but draw a 2-inch wide, five-petal flower, and on a third color a 1-inch wide, four-petal flower.

2. Cut out all of these shapes using sharp scissors. Pinking shears can also be used and will cause the edges of the petals to curl up.

3. Place a pea-sized drop of hot glue onto the center of the large flower and place the middle flower on top of it, and orientate it so all the petals are visible. Once the glue has cooled, slightly repeat this technique to attach the smaller flower to the middle flower. Leave to dry for a few hours.

4. Attach the flower to the end of the hat pin using a drop of hot glue on the end of the pin and placing the flower on top. The flower may need to be held in place for a few minutes until the glue starts to cool.

1970s House Design

Contemporary-style home designs were widely popular during the 1970s.

In the 1970s, ranch style houses began to be passed over for more contemporary home designs that featured open floor plans, minimal ornamentation and irregular shapes. Vertical siding, made of aluminum or vinyl, was a common design feature of 1970s houses, and the neo-eclectic styles of the late 20th century were also popular.

Asymmetrical Design

Home designs of the 1970s consisted of unusual angles and asymmetrical styles that greatly contrasted the flat, boxy look of the once-dominant ranch home. Custom ranch homes built through the later 1970s drew inspiration from the neo-eclectic style and were built with more prominent entrances, taller roof lines and sharper angles.

Multi-Level

Flat, multi-level or varied roof lines are another tell-tale feature of 1970s home design. While traditional ranch homes declined in popularity, their bi-level counterparts continued to be desirable in the new homes built during the 1970s. Split-level houses were considered more contemporary, and the design could be customized to accommodate any style the homeowner desired, such as Colonial, Southwestern or Asian.

Wide Windows

Oversized windows were a major design feature of 1970s home styles, bringing in natural light and an open, airy feel to houses built during this decade. Windows of 1970s house designs were big and bold, often taking up much of an exterior wall's space and being a prominent feature in the home's construction.

Hot Hairstyles Of The 80s

Hairspray was necessarty to create the ideal '80s hairstyles.

The 1980s was a decade of fashion hits -- or misses -- depending upon how you looked at it. Any decade that boasted matching neon sweater and socks had to be unique. And don't forget the hairstyles -- even though some of you may try. In the '80s, bigger was better and frosted was to, like, totally die for. It didn't matter the length of your hair. Hot hairstyles of the '80s transcended every haircut and length.

Short

Short, spiked styles were hot in the '80s. The younger generation went true punk with the Mohawk with the sides of the head shaved. The shaved Mohawk was appropriate for guys and girls. The fauxhawk consisted of gel holding up the top and sides of a short cut. One even bolder cut involved shaving one side of the head and dying the tips of the remaining hair a bright neon color, such as pink or green. An older woman in the '80s wore her hair in a soft layered cut, reminiscent of the '60s bouffant.

Medium

Thanks to the '80s flick "Dirty Dancing," the curly perm was all the rave. Fans took it up a notch with frosted hair tips. Hairspray, hairspray and more hairspray was used to hold up the pouf. The side ponytail held with a scrunchie was an option for a casual look. Blunt bob cuts were a drastic style worn by many older women in the '80s. The look was appropriate for the office as well as for casual events.

Long

The side ponytail was appropriate for longer hair as well. For a formal event, hair was braided into a French braid with a clip-on ribbon secured at the bottom of the braid. Long and short mullets were popular with both men and women. The '80s mullet was characterized by short hair in the front with longer hair, or a tail, in the back. One of the most famous '80s musicians who donned this "business in the front, party in the back" hairstyle was Billy Ray Cyrus. Different variations of the mullet are still worn today.

African-American

Men and women, young and old, wore a style called the Jheri curl. This all over curly style was worn with long or short hair. The younger generation enjoyed the asymmetrical bob styles worn by rap artists such as Salt-n-Pepa and MC Lyte. Men of all ages wore hair in a box cut. Older men wore a lower box style while the younger generation wore high box cuts channeling the rap group Kid n' Play.

Men'S Costumes In The 1600s

Men's Costumes in the 1600s

The 17th century was an era of enlightenment and revolutions, with significant scientific advances and several political and religious wars taking place during the century. During the 1600s, there were also shifts in male fashion as men's costumes abandoned the conservative look from the 1500s for more extravagant and flamboyant styles.

Fabrics and Textiles

Seventeenth century men's costumes welcomed the introduction of soft fabrics, such as velvet, satin and silk. Instead of the blacks and other dark colors that were common in earlier eras, men began wearing bright colors. Additionally, clothes were no longer plain. Instead, men's costumes became decorated excessively in an ornate, Baroque fashion. Jackets were often trimmed in ribbons or braiding. Decorative golden buttons, bows and embroidery adorned jackets and tops.

Early 1600s

In the first half of the 17th century, men's breeches changed dramatically by increasing in length. To elongate their figure, men's doublets or fitted, buttoned Bolero-styled jackets went higher and revealed more of the breeches. By the middle of the century, the waistline returned down to the natural waist. A style of breeches, called rhinegraves, became baggier and gathered below the knees. This style evolved into petticoat breeches, categorized by their full skirts that rested low on the hips and gave the wearer a very showy appearance.

Late 1600s

Men's costumes were in some ways toned down during the later half of the century, with men dressing more practically for sporting and life in the country. During the restoration of the English monarchy, King Charles II began to wear a three-piece suit. English men were inspired by this practical outfit, and began dressing in that style. Still, in more regal circumstances, men continued to wear flashy clothing dripping with lace and ruffles. Stockings, made of silk, featured embroidery and drew eyes to the men's dramatic shoes.

Shoes

Shoes grew in popularity during the 1600s. Styles were heavily influenced by the reigning royals of the time. In England, King Charles wore boots to hide the supports he needed in order to walk. It was not long before men's boots were the hottest fashion. Years later, shoes and stockings replaced boots when breeches topped with a tailored coat became more popular. Toward the end of the century, high heels with flashy red soles and red heels became trendy after Louis XIV of France favored the style.

Hair

At the start of the 1600s and throughout most of the century, men's costumes were only complete with long hair. Some groups of conservative men, however, kept their hair relatively short. Later in the century, men began to powder their hair by adding a sticky substance, then applying flour to the hair. Some men even dyed the flour, leading to pink or blue hair. In the 1670s, Louis XIV went bald and influenced men to begin wearing wigs instead of their own natural hair.

Traditional Wedding Hairstyles For Short Hair

Traditional straight, short hairstyles work well with elegant accessories.

If you're a bride-to-be with short hair, don't panic; short bridal hairstyles are becoming more and more popular options for modern brides who still desire a traditional wedding do. Whether your short hair is straight, wavy or curly there are a range of styles that flatter your hair and add elegance, creativity and glamour to your bridal look on your big day.

Curly

Curls add glamour and elegance to short bridal hairstyles. Use styling products to emphasize and define your curls if your hair is naturally curly. If you are a bride with naturally straight hair, consider curling your hair into romantic ringlets over your entire head using a curling iron and finger styling, or alternatively leave most of your hair straight and just curl sections of your hair, such as the hair at the crown to frame your face. Spray your hairstyle with plenty of hairspray to keep it firmly in place throughout the wedding.

Wavy

Wavy hair forms a soft, romantic and stylish look for brides desiring a short traditional wedding style on their big day. Create movement and definition to naturally wavy hair by using rollers, curlers or waving irons to emphasize the waves. The more time spent making sure each wave forms perfectly the more defined and controlled the end result will be. Blow-dry your hair first until smooth before styling, as this ensures easier styling and neater results.

Straight

Straight, sleek and short hair creates a sophisticated look ideal for traditional weddings. Consider straight hair with a fringe that falls over one eye, or comb your short hair to one side and tuck it behind your ear. Emphasize sleek short hair by smoothing the surface of the hair with hair gel. Straight, short hairstyles work well with pretty accessories that add glamour to your style and flatter your facial features.

Accessories

There are many different hair accessories that can be used to adorn short bridal hairstyles. Placing sparkly accessories in your hair instantly dresses up traditional short styles and adds elegance and sophistication. Consider decorating curly short hairstyles with sparkly pins, clips and gems that emphasize your styled hair, or wear a headband that allows your curls to softly fall over the top. Jeweled barrettes, tiaras, flowers, combs and even feathers are ideal for highlighting and adding glamour to wavy or straight short hairstyles.

Get Curls To Stay In Fine Hair

If you have fine hair, then you are probably used to encountering styling problems. Fine, soft or thin hair often has trouble holding curl and volume for any period of time. As a result, you may have decided to simply go with the straight look. However, you can get curls to stay in fine hair as long as you follow a specific process to get and hold them.

Instructions

1. Shampoo your hair. Use lukewarm water rather than hot, which can damage and strip already fine hair. Rinse your hair until the water runs clear before moving on.

2. Apply a leave-in conditioner. Work it into every strand of your hair from the roots down. You may need to use several small applications on various parts of your head to make sure every piece of hair is covered.

3. Spritz your hair with the volume enhancer. Lift up layers and spray underneath the top layer of hair. Focus on the root area.

4. Dry your hair. Dry your hair as normal, trying to limit brushing during the process, since this can stretch and break hair. Use the lowest setting and remove most of the moisture, then allow it to air dry if you have time. Your hair must be completely dry before you move on.

5. Spray your hair with hairspray. Mist the entire head. Do not create a helmet, but just apply a light mist.

6. Curl your hair. Wind a strand of hair around the curling iron. If you have curling tongs, do not pull the hair through them, but place them at the very end of the strand and then wrap it. Hold it in place long enough to heat the entire strand, then respray the curl and release it. You can do this for random strands to give your hair texture, or do your entire head in spiral curls.

Take Care Of Relaxed Hair

Relaxed hair needs different care and attention than natural African-American hair. The hair follicle before the relaxing process is flat and full of kinks and curves. The relaxer straightens out this follicle. However, in taking out the curls and bends in the hair, the relaxer weakens the follicles, because that structure supports the hair. Natural straight hair has a round follicle that doesn't need the support. The weakened, relaxed hair follicle thus needs a little extra attention to prevent breakage.

Instructions

1. Wash your hair with shampoos and conditioners that are designed to moisturize and strengthen relaxed hair. These products are available at drug stores and many other retailers. Like finding healthy foods for your family, you will have to read the labels of the hair products to find the best ones. Look for the words "processed hair," "relaxed hair" and "permed hair." Start with products made by the makers of your relaxer, as those products are designed to supplement the relaxer. Also look for products that are rich in proteins like keratin that strengthen the hair.

2. Wrap your hair at night with a silk scarf or hair wrap. As you move throughout the night, the silk will glide across your hair, not pulling as any other fabric does. Weakened, relaxed hair breaks easily, so simply turning your head against a regular pillow at night can cause you to lose hair. A silk pillowcase is also advisable.

3. Avoid daily use of heat on your hair. This includes flat irons, curling irons and blow dryers. Heat only weakens the relaxed hair further, leading to breakage. Use heat-styling products only when hair has been treated with the proper hair products, like leave-in conditioners. Instead, roller set your hair and use the low or air dry settings on your hair dryer. If some sort of styling iron is a must, turn the heat to a low setting. It may take a little longer for styling, but your hair will remain healthy and strong.

4. Keep the hair moisturized. Use a leave-in conditioner or moisturizer after washing. Daily application of a moisturizing cream also helps. Avoid products that contain petroleum and silicones as these are often too heavy for relaxed hair. Instead, look for products that use oils like aloe vera, jojoba, olive oil and other natural oils. These are much lighter than the petroleums and silicones, and they moisturize your hair without weighing it down.

5. Get your relaxed hair retouched every six to eight weeks as the new hair growth appears. Letting the new growth get too long may cause breakage, because the relaxed tip is further weakened by the growth of a strong, curly follicle. At these appointments, also have your hair trimmed to eradicate split ends as these also weaken relaxed hair.

6. Wash your hair regularly. There is a debate as to the frequency of these washings. Some say that it should be done daily, while others swear by weekly hair washes. Dirt weighs down the fragile, relaxed hair follicle, so daily washing can only help your hair--especially if you use the moisturizers and leave-ins. If you do choose infrequent washes with shampoo, "co-wash" between shampooings. This entails wetting the hair and washing with conditioner instead of shampoo. Co-washes ensure that the hair gets at least a rinse and the extra moisture on a regular basis.

Natural Hairstyles For Brides

Natural Hairstyles for Brides

Although some brides dream of a formal, elaborate hairstyle that requires hours at the bridal salon, others prefer a more low-key wedding look. Whether it's a casual wedding or a more formal affair, brides with a more natural style often prefer to skip high-maintenance, overly styled wedding hair. Relaxed and casual wedding hairdos, accessorized with flowers or natural jewels, allow a bride's natural style to shine through, while still adding romance and glamour to her wedding coiffure.

Casual Waves

Brides planning on an informal wedding ceremony at a beach or another venue might choose a soft wavy hairstyle that matches the style of the venue. This casual hairstyle works well with short, medium or long locks. Accentuate naturally curly locks by spraying them with a sea salt mist and then allowing hair to air dry. Purchase this product or make your own by mixing 2 tbsp. of sea salt with 1 cup of water. Apply volumizing tonic to straight hair and use a curling iron or hot rollers to achieve a wavy, tousled look. Crown beachy locks with a seashell headband or tiara.

Loose Bun or Braids

Start this style with curly hair, using a curling iron/hot rollers on your locks if your hair isn't naturally curly. Braid it into a long, loose style. Skip the hairspray and allow tendrils and large portions of hair to remain loose. Keep the style soft and unstructured. A romantic, soft bun can emphasize a natural style. Push wavy hair into a ponytail, wrap it around the elastic to form a messy bun and secure it with a few pins. Use a bit of styling gel or hairspray for hold and texture, but avoid overusing styling products. It should look like it could tumble loose at any moment. Tuck flowers into the braid or bun to accentuate a natural look. This is an appropriate hairstyle for destination brides or for those planning an outdoor, garden wedding, but it also works well in more formal settings.

Ponytail

A sleek, simple ponytail is one hair option for modern brides, according to Glamour magazine. Apply volumizing tonic and blow dry hair into a super-smooth style. Fasten it tightly so it sits slightly below the middle center of the back of your head. Smooth shine serum onto the ponytail for maximum gloss. Accessorize the ponytail by wrapping a strand of your own hair around the elastic band and pinning it under. Consider wrapping the ponytail with some fabric from your dress or flowers from your bouquet.

Short and Sweet

Short locks require little styling and can be an attractive choice for a natural bride. Make your hairstyle wedding ready by adding nature-inspired accessories. Tuck a large flower behind one ear for a romantic, jazz-inspired style. Tousle your hair and tuck jeweled hairpins throughout it for a slightly messy, but still glamorous, hairstyle. Avoid accessories made of rhinestone and plastic. Instead, wear headbands and barrettes made with sustainable jewels, such as farmed pearls, for a low-key, natural look.

Pin A Chignon

Pin a Chignon

The chignon is an elegant hairstyle that works well for any face shape. Dress it up for formal occasions with jeweled pins, hair sticks or flowers. Dress it down with "messy" pieces or spiky ends that stick out every which way and wear it with jeans. Either way, the chignon gives you a stylish look. The best part of this hairstyle is how easy it is to create.

Instructions

1. Gather your hair into a low ponytail at the base of your neck. Part your hair comfortably with a standard center or side part, or simply brush the hair straight back. Stiffer parts look formal while softer, looser hair around the face gives the style a casual feel. Secure the ponytail with a coated hairband.

2. Texturize the hair in your ponytail, especially if you have thin or fine hair. This creates friction among the hair strands, helps it hold a shape and gives the chignon greater volume. Use hair wax, pomade, gel, mousse, thickening spray or regular hair spray-whatever works best for your hair. Apply the product to your hair and work it evenly through the length.

3. Twist the hair in the ponytail. Choose to either keep your hair in a single section or to divide the ponytail in two sections and wrap them around each other in a spiral. Braiding the ponytail is also effective if your hair is long enough to coil the braid around the base of the ponytail at least twice. Secure the end of the twisted or braided ponytail with a second coated hairband.

4. Begin coiling the twisted or braided ponytail around the base of the ponytail. Once the hair is coiled into the first full circle, pin the hair to the back of your head. Be generous with the pins as the thickest and heaviest part of the ponytail is in this first circle. Pinning securely prevents the chignon from sagging even after you've worn it for several hours.

5. Continue coiling your hair around the outside of the first coiled circle. Pin the hair in place as you go.

6. Tuck the end of the ponytail under the body of the chignon. Pin it out of sight or tuck it under the outermost coil of hair and pull it through so the ends stick out. Fan out the spiky ends to give the chignon a little extra funk and apply some additional gel or pomade to the ends for staying power.

7. Finish your chignon by spritzing it with hair spray and adding a few flowers or jeweled pins around the outermost coil. If you use decorative pins, place the jewels so they are visible and catch the light. Pull some tendrils of hair around your face to soften the look.

Flower Girl Hairstyles

A flower girl is an important member of the wedding party.

A flower girl is the lucky young girl chosen to precede the bride down the aisle at a wedding, sprinkling flower petals as she goes. She is usually a relative or daughter of a close friend of the bride or groom. A flower girl is often a miniature version of a bride, dressed in white. There are as many adorable hairstyles for flower girls as there are for brides themselves.

Formal Looks

A bride will often have a theme for her bridal party hairstyles, including the flower girl. The girl's hair will usually be styled in a similar manner to the bridesmaids or to the bride herself. One look often seen in wedding hairstyles are formal updos. A flower girl's updo should be appropriate for her age. If the bride has formal curls surrounding a tight bun, a good look for the flower girl could be a ponytail on top of the head or at the crown, with tendril curls hanging down. The look is formal, but still youthful.

Casual Dos

Some brides want their flower girl to have a more casual hairstyle. If the girl has long hair, sometimes it is prettiest left hanging long and shiny. A nice compromise is to pull up the front and sides of her hair, leaving the back long. The hair is clipped or put in a ponytail holder at the crown of the head. This half-up do is very youthful, but still appropriate for a formal occasion and likely to stay looking neat throughout the day. Curl the hair with large curlers so it is wavy to complement this look.

Short Styles and Young Girls

If the flower girl is a toddler, her hair may still be very fine and she may be too young to sit still for hours in a styling chair. The best look for a toddler is often her own adorable, natural style, with cute barrettes holding it in place. If the bride wants her flower girl in an updo and she is a toddler or has short hair, a hair piece is a good option. The girl's hair is pinned up at the crown, or placed in a ponytail, if long enough. Then a hair piece of curls that match her color fastens on top. This look is simple and fast for squirming little flower girls.

Tiaras, Headbands and Flowers

Sometimes the perfect look for a flower girl's hair has less to do with elaborate styling and more to do with the perfect accessory. Any little girl would be thrilled to wear a tiara like a princess. This is especially pretty if the bride is wearing a tiara as well. Headbands that match the wedding colors or that have ribbons hanging down are an adorable look for girls with short hair. And perhaps the most perfect accessory for a beautiful little flower girl is flowers. Simply pin her hair up on the sides and place wedding flowers in it, or have a crown of flowers and ribbons made for her to wear.

Throw An Emmy Party

With a worldwide rep as the ultimate in glitz and glamour, the Emmy's circuit is part fashion, part schmoozefest, but at heart it's just a partying, people-watching lalapalooza. Get caught up in the fever and host your very own Emmy's Awards costume party, and you'll be the star of your own high-concept production.

Instructions

1. Grab a bunch of toy slates from a toy store or costume shop (a slate is that thing someone snaps shut like giant false teeth in front of the camera at the beginning of a take - "Scene 2, take 45!") and write the party details on it (or attach a note) for your invitation. Or sticker the details to a bag of microwave popcorn (um, unpopped) and throw it in the mail.

Production: [insert Primetime Emmy Awards Viewing Party]

Director: [insert your name]

Camera: Come dressed as an actor or member of the press

Date: Bring one, on [insert air date and time of preshow (usually one hour prior to show)]

Scene: Total, it starts at [insert time]

Take: Yourself to [insert location]

2. Start getting your pad ready by rolling out a red carpet by your front door (use red felt instead of real carpet, and secure it by laying a carpet rubber underneath it and a strip of red tape on the edges). Transport your sofa back to the feeling of the old movie theaters by draping red velvet fabric over it.

3. Place his and hers mannequins or dress forms at the entrance, dressed in formal attire for the Emmy's event. Grab the wardrobe at thrift stores, costume shops, or your best friend's closet. Pick up mannequins or dress forms at sewing shops, thrift stores, costume shops, or on-line.

4. Deck the walls with television show posters, and around the party space, casually arrange tabloids mixing in with glossy rags that celebrate the celebrity lifestyle. I'm talking InStyle, People, Vanity Fair, Us, and Variety.

5. Party cam! Remember the mannequin greeters from the party entrance? Stand an easel next to them that holds cue cards featuring questions like "Who's your agent?" and "Who are you wearing?" Set up a digital camera and capture your friend's grand entrances, or have disposable cameras on hand to get flashbulbs popping.

6. Print out a copy of this year's nominees and have everyone pick their winners, then give out a faux Emmy statuette (find them at trophy stores) at the end of the night to the winner. Invite them to "thank the Academy" and give a speech.

Dark Angel Halloween Hairstyles

Gothic hair is perfect for a dark angel.

Temporarily dark, gothic hair is the final touch on a dark angel costume. This type of costume usually involves a dark dress and wings; it's the antithesis of the lighter, heavenly angel. The dress might be long or short. Add some pale makeup, black nails and dark red lipstick. Put your teasing comb into action to take your costume to the next level.

Color

The classic color for a dark angel costume is black. If you don't have naturally raven hair, buy spray-on color to darken your locks for Halloween. A streak or two of bright pink, blonde or blue-black are also appropriate for the costume. They're available where Halloween costumes are sold as spray-on or brush-on products.

Volume

With a dark angel costume, go big when it comes to your hair. Even if you choose a long, sleek style, brush back the top of your hair for volume. Hold on to a piece of your hair and brush toward your scalp. Once you've ratted your hair into a huge mass, brush the top levels to smooth them and give them style. Crimping is another way to add volume.

Length

If your ideal dark angel has long, Rapunzel-like locks, buy temporary, clip-in extensions. Get them in the color of your temporary dye. Alternately, dye your hair black and buy brightly colored extensions. Extensions add volume if you're hair is fine as well. It's okay to go over the top and use lots of fake hair to complement your costume.

Styles

Several styles look great with dark angel costumes. Long, straight dark hair is one idea; think Morticia Addams. Go for the good-girl-gone-bad look, with dark ringlets and streaks of pink. Try dark hair with fake extensions or falls in a bright pink color.

Muscle Relaxers Information

Muscle relaxers are prescription drugs used to treat spasms and muscle pain. The spasms and pain are often due to illnesses like arthritis, or injuries. Most muscle relaxers do have some addictive potential, and are therefore monitored by the federal government. Like any medications, some people do experience allergic reaction or adverse side effects associated with their drug treatment.

Precautions

Muscle relaxant drugs work best when accompanied by medical treatments such as physical therapy exercises, according to MedlinePlus. Muscle spasms and injuries require rest along with any pain management medications, including relaxers. Few muscle relaxers are intended for long-term use, and some like Soma and Valium do have potential for addiction and even fatal overdose.

Soma

Soma is a prescription muscle relaxer chemically comprised of carisoprodol, according to MedlinePlus. Most patients take the pills three to four times a day and can ingest the medication with or without food. Those who are pregnant or nursing should avoid the drug, and it may affect one's ability to drive. Possible side effects associated with Soma include rapid heartbeat, dizziness, drowsiness, upset stomach, and vomiting.

Valium

Valium is a prescription sedative that is used as a muscle relaxer, according to MedlinePlus. It also helps reduce anxiety and sleeping problems. The medication is comprised of the benzodiazepine diazepam, and is available in both pill and liquid form. Those who smoke cigarettes may have decreased Valium benefits. Possible side effects include a shuffling walk, changes in sex drive and/or appetite, dizziness, dry mouth, diarrhea, and upset stomach.

Skelaxin

Skelaxin is a prescription muscle relaxer chemically comprised of metaxalone, according to MedlinePlus. Most patients take the pills three or four times a day. Those with liver or heart disease may be advised to avoid Skelaxin. Possible side effects include dizziness, drowsiness, upset stomach, vomiting, headache, and nervousness. Yellow skin, unusual bleeding or bruising, and seizures resulting from Skelaxin are considered medical emergencies.

Flexeril

Flexeril is a prescription muscle relaxer chemically comprised of cyclobenzaprine, according to MedlinePlus. Most patients take the pills two to four times a day. Those with heart disease, glaucoma, problems urinating, or an overactive thyroid gland may be advised to avoid Flexeril. Possible side effects are dry mouth, dizziness, drowsiness, and upset stomach. Serious side effects that require emergency medical help are chest pain, fever, irregular heart rate, and seizures.

Modern Hairstyles For Short Hair

Short hair is more popular than ever thanks to a slew of celebrities and models sporting smart short dos. Get that Hollywood or runway look with a short modern hairstyle that will turn heads on the street. The beauty of a short hairstyle is that most styles don't require a tremendous amount of maintenance. Utilize hair gel, pomade, hair brush, hair dryer and hairspray to get the right look.

Short Spiky Bob

The short spiky bob is a good look for just about any occasion. It's easy to dry and style and is suitable for most face shapes. Ask your stylist to stack your bob extra high in the back and cut your sides and bangs in an angle for a layered, modern look.

Style your cut using hair gel and a hair dryer. Wash your hair, then rub a dime-sized amount of gel between your palms. Drag your finger through your hair and coat your entire head with the gel. Towel dry your hair and allow it to air dry for a few minutes.

Dry your hair with the hair dryer and flip your head upside down to get the sides and front. Use a large round brush to guide the ends. Rub a small amount of pomade in your palms and run your fingers through your dried hair. Emphasize your layered ends with the pomade to accentuate the jagged, razor cut. Lightly spray your hair with hair spray.

Short Back Long Bangs

Short hair in the back with long bangs looks great on women with strong features and jaw line. Accentuate your long bangs with bright, chunky highlights for a more modern, updated effect.

The back of your hair should be only a quarter of an inch long. Keep the sides a little longer and keep the top of your hair from the crown forward, long and layered. Let your bangs grow as long as chin length. If you like shorter bangs, cut them no shorter than nose length and layer them.

Style this 'do using pomade and a hair brush. Rub a dime-sized amount of pomade between your palms and apply to dry bangs. Run your fingers through your bangs several times, drawing them forward. Sweep your bangs over to one side once the pomade is fully applied and lightly spray with hairspray.

Super Short Pixie Look

This short sophisticated style is easy to style and maintain. A good stylist who can provide you with a professional cut is key to making this style work well.

Your hair should be cut approximately two inches to an inch and a half around your head. Your bangs should be kept short and spiky and your stylist should layer this cut around your head.

Style your snappy cut using stiff hair gel. Wash and towel dry your hair. Your hair will dry fast because of the short length. Rub a dime sized amount of stiff hair gel between your palms and work both hands through your entire head. Working quickly, pinch your layers between your fingers and pull them outward and upward to lift the cut and add body.

Flip your head over and run your fingers through the back and underneath your hairline then use a soft brush to tame and direct hair pieces off to the side to give the cut a wind-blown look.

Middle School Hairstyles For Girls

Middle school girls can wear a variety of different hairstyles.

The middle school years are often considered the transition period between elementary and high school. The students are no longer "kids," yet have not become "teens" quite yet. At this age, girls often develop an increased interest in their looks. As they begin experimenting with fashion, makeup and hairstyles, they strive to express their personality through their appearance. When selecting middle school hairstyles for girls, choose a style that works best with her personality and lifestyle.

Short Bob

For the preteen with an active lifestyle, a short bob hairstyle is a great look. This short hairstyle is relatively easy to maintain and can be easily pulled away from the face during sports or school activities. As explained by the Beauty and the Bath website, "The best bob hairstyles are easy to care for, allowing you to do what you need to and still look amazing with minimal touch-ups throughout the day." Since middle-school girls spend the majority of their days in school, they do not have much time for re-styling their hair every few hours. After initial styling in the morning, the bob hairstyle gives pre-teen girls the ability to move through their day without thinking about their hair. For an edgier look, have the stylist add choppy layers. For a softer look, opt for a side part and wispy, sideswept bangs.

Long and Layered

If the middle-school girl prefers a more glamorous look, opt for a long and layered hairstyle. Whether she wants it to fall just below the shoulders or extend down to her lower back, a long hairstyle adds instant beauty without a lot of maintenance. The main benefit of this hairstyle is that it works with any type of hair, including straight, wavy and curly. To keep the hairstyle somewhat simple for the middle-school girl to style on her own, only layer the look slightly. Short layers around the face and long layers in the back provide volume, yet require limited styling. After the hair is washed, it can be dried naturally or with a hair dryer. For extra volume, Velcro rollers or hot rollers can be used.

Ponytails

With a few creative modifications, the traditional ponytail can transition from a cute elementary-school hairstyle to a more mature middle-school hairstyle. The options for ponytails are numerous. A middle-school girl might choose a high ponytail, low ponytail, sleek ponytail, messy ponytail or side ponytail. When working with a traditional ponytail, add a bit of flair by pairing it with a chic headband or scarf wrapped around the head. For a messier style, twist the ends of the ponytail into a messy bun and pin them against the head. For a sleek look, gather the ponytail at the nape of the neck and pull it to the side, just below the ear. Add soft curls throughout the hair and a glittery headband.

Sharpen Garden Clipper Blades

Sharp clippers help make garden work safe and easy.

When you take care of your gardening tools they can last for years. Besides regular cleaning, it's important to keep garden clipper blades sharp for optimal performance. Some clipper blades are curved, making it difficult to use a file or other traditional sharpening tool. But sharpening the blades yourself is simple when you know what tools and techniques to use. Garden clippers are safer and easier to use when their blades cut cleanly.

Instructions

1. Wipe the blades with a wet rag to remove any built-up dirt or other residue.

2. Press a scissors sharpener over one of the blades and swipe down the blade from root to tip. Repeat with the other blade.

3. Rub a piece of 300-grit sandpaper over the backs of the blades in small, circular motions. This removes any burrs on the blades that can cause jagged cutting.

4. Wipe away any sandpaper residue with the rag before using the clippers.

Messy Hairstyles For Short Hair

Messy hairstyles for short hair have become a popular trend, especially in models and teenage girls. Having short hair often means that you only have to spend a few minutes fixing your hair before you're off to work or out for the evening. Messy hairstyles for short hair are easily fixed, can fit any person's style, and don't have to look unkempt if done right.

Waves of Wonder

Messy hairstyles for short hair can be done in a hurry or left to set overnight. Wavy, messy hair can be fixed at night and be ready to go in the morning. Twist small sections of messy hair and secure the locks, still twisted, with bobby pins or hair elastics; twist at least the top section up in this way and allow to dry while sleeping. In the morning, remove the bobby pins or hair elastics, and brush the curls loose with your fingers. Add a little hairspray, and you're ready to go.

Bed Head

After shampooing and applying a leave-in conditioner, flip the head over and brush the hair towards the floor. Mix equal parts of a shine serum and mousse or gel, and apply lightly to the parts of the hair closest to the head. Crunch the hair towards the head while cool drying with a blow-dryer to set in the curls. Once dry, flip the hair back over the head, and use a pick to part the hair without disturbing the curls. The bed head look should be a little frizzy, so don't try to calm the frizz with too much mousse or gel, or you'll end up with flat hair stuck to your head with gel.

Bobs

To give really short hair a messy style takes a little more work. The most popular messy hairstyle for women with bobs is to straighten and curl the front and top of the hair to complement the face, and then to allow the back to be spiky and messy. To do this, the front and top of the hair should be fixed first, and then gel or mouse applied to the back to spike the hair.

Wind-Tossed

Another popular messy hairstyle for short hair is the wind-tossed look. To accomplish this look you will need a straightening iron and hairspray. After the hair has dried, spray tiny sections of hair with hairspray. While the spray is still damp, run the straightening iron over the section, pulling out and up; this will make the sections flair out. Don't overspray the hair, or it will look clumpy. Run the fingers through from the bottom, upward, to give the finished look additional volume.

Beach Look

The beach look works for any hair length, including short hair. To give short hair a messy, beach look, pick lightly after shampooing to remove tangles. Comb in a leave-in conditioner and blow dry on a low setting, using the fingers to lift the hair from the roots to give it volume.

Tie A Bow Tie Easily

Most people can tie a bow tie easily, but some people struggle to tie a bow tie. Nearly every man, or boy, is forced at some point in their life to wear a bow tie. Below is a simple guide on tie a proper bow tie.

Instructions

1. Before getting started, pop up your collar and then place the bow tie around your neck loosely.

2. I highly recommend that you stand in front of a full size mirror, or a mirror that is level with your neck area (such as a bathroom vanity mirror). This will help you watch what you're doing at all angles, preventing small errors.

3. Adjust the length of the bow tie (some bow ties require this step while others do not). Do this by placing the first hook number above the hook of your neck size.

4. Place the tie around your neck with the seams inside, with the widening side hanging down from the collar button near your collarbone. Hold the spot just above the widening point.

5. Cross the larger end over the spot, then pass it around and up through the top.

Make Bracelets With Cardboard

Recycle cardboard tubes such as toilet paper tubes by making customized bracelets.

Bracelets are a great jewelry piece to add to outfits to create a sense of style and fashion. There are various types of bracelets, including thin chain bracelets and bangles. Although bangles were popular during the disco era, many women still wear bangles with various outfits. You can create your own bangle-like bracelet from cardboard, which allows you to add a personal touch to your bracelet. This personalized item is a great gift for a friend or loved family member, as well as a recreational activity to perform with your children.

Instructions

1. Cut the cardboard tube into rings that are approximately 1.5 inches wide. Make a slit that cuts each cardboard ring open. This allows you to slip the bracelet over your wrist.

2. Use scissors to cut a strip of felt in the desired color also 1.5 inches in width. Ensure the strip is long enough to cover the entire cardboard ring.

3. Cover the cardboard ring with the felt piece. Apply a small amount of craft glue to the felt to secure the felt to the cardboard.

4. Trim the felt with scissors in areas that overlap or that are too large for the cardboard ring.

5. Decorate the cardboard bracelet with craft jewels, sequins and beads as desired. Attach the decorations to the bracelet with a generous amount of craft glue.

6. Allow enough time for the glue to dry before wearing the bracelet. Read the label on the craft glue to determine drying time.

Mens' Hairstyles For Curly Hair

Curly hair is a desirable trait for many, especially for men who do not have it. Curly hair looks great the longer it gets and can make for some great hairstyles. Do not despise your curly hair anymore, instead, embrace it and accept it.

Large Afro

Want to take a trip back to 1970? The large afro was big back in the '70s and is slowly making a comeback for men with curly hair. Large afros can look cool with a hat, as all the hair puffs out to each side.

Small Afro

Small afros are a little more common and popular than their larger counterparts. Afros are great for men with curly hair. They make you stand out and they look great with the right fashion.

Medium Length Curl

Some people refer to this as the Jude Law hairstyle. Jude Law uses a nice combination of curl on top of his head, with shorter lengths of hair on the side. It's not for everyone, but women generally find Jude Law attractive so that may help your decision. Basically it looks like a mop top with class.

The Surfer

The surfer look is great if you have the laid back attitude and cool temper to go along with it. It's shoulder length, with less hair and curls. It looks like a classy hippy with curls, as the hair is not so straight and just sort of hangs in all directions. Keep it shorter for a masculine look.

Short Length Curl

Allow your curly hair to stand out, by letting a few curls sit on top of your head, even with a short haircut. Cut the sides close and tight and allow a few curls on the top. Some men may prefer to spike the curls on top. Do what you think works with these natural curls on an otherwise buzzed haircut.

Cute Tiedup Hairstyles For Teenage Girls

The French twist is a classic style that looks great on people of all ages.

Whether you are looking for a prom hairdo or just a way to change up your style, tied-up hair is a great option. Tied-up hair, often called an updo, is a classic choice for formal events and casual activities alike. Creating your own tied-up style is as simple as building on a few familiar styles, like a ponytail, braid or bun.

Ponytail Style

The classic French twist is created by beginning with a simple, low ponytail. Pull the hair up and use the hair on the right side of the tail to twist over the tail and simply pin in place. Excess hair can be left loose on top of the head, curled or tucked into the roll. The roll can be made tight for a more formal style or loosened up for daytime style.

Braid Style

Start with a braid to create sophisticated-looking styles that take little skill. Braid the hair into two braids at the base of the head. Pull each braid around the side of the head and fasten at the top with pin. This familiar milkmaid style can be modernized by roughing up the braids before wrapping them onto the head. For a quick updo that makes a big impact, braid the hair at the base of the head, using two large sections of hair and one very small section. Once the hair has been braided, hold just the small section of hair and push the rest of the hair up the strand, fastening it against the scalp with pins. Wrap the small section around the pushed-up hair and pin it in place.

Bun Style

The ballerina bun is a classic updo that can be changed to suit any style. Create it by gathering the hair at the top of the head. Twist it into a bun and fasten it with pins. To modernize it, pull out a few random stands to make the bun messier. For a sweet style, wrap the base of the bun in a ribbon or pearls. For shorter hair, create two small braids, one at each temple and pull all of the hair, braids included, back into a tight bun.

Curly Hair

Pull curled or naturally curly hair to the back of the head and slightly to the side. Twist the hair around itself and pin the hair up against the scalp for a side tie-up style. For a more casual style, pull hair back into a very loose, low ponytail, allowing plenty of tendrils to fall loose around the face. Roll the ponytail into a loose bun and fasten with plenty of pins.

Do A French Braid On A 3yearold

French braids can be simple or dramatic.

The French braid is a popular hairstyle for both children and adults. For young children, it is a great way to keep long hair out of the way and also looks very stylish and polished. Braiding a child's hair requires the same steps as braiding an adult's, but with more patience to complete the job.

Instructions

Braid the Hair

1. Wet the hair, especially if it's very fine baby hair. You can also add a little bit of hair gel or hairspray to give it some texture and help yourself hold onto it. Remember that children's scalps are sensitive and not used to hair products, so be careful not to add too much.

2. Sit your child in front of the TV or give her a book to read while you braid her hair. Try to think of something that is quiet and calming because you will need her to sit still while you braid. Consider offering her a small reward if she's able to sit still until you're done with the braid.

3. Comb out the hair to free it of any tangles. Have the fine-tooth comb and ponytail holder handy.

4. Separate a section of hair on the crown that will start the braid. This can be just the top corner of the crown or you can reach all the way down to the sides of the ears and pull that up. It depends how much hair you want to braid.

5. Split the hair you've selected into three even sections. Gather two of the sections in the left hand, keeping them apart using the thumb and forefinger. The third strand you'll hold in your right hand. If you're left-handed, simply reverse these instructions.

6. Working from the left to the right, bring the left outside section of hair to the middle by lifting it over the center section. Then, take the right outside section and lift it, placing it in the middle of the two left sections.

7. Pick up some extra hair on the left side of the head and add it to the outside section of hair. Repeat the above step, adding extra hair to the right side section before adding it to the braid. Continue this process until you can no longer add any hair. If the hair is long, finish the braid with a basic braid process. When you've included all the hair, hold the braid with your left hand while securing it with a ponytail holder using your right hand.

8. Spritz the braid with hairspray for a polished look and to control loose strands.

Keep My Permed Curls Nice All Day

Treat your perm right at the beginning of the day.

If you have a perm, you probably count your blessings every time you see aisles of curling irons and hot rollers at the store. Your perm has presumably given you the body and curl you desire, without the fuss of curling devices. Still, perms can be finicky, and they do require maintenance. To keep your permed curls looking good all day, start your day with the proper perm regimen. Then you'll be in great shape if you have to infuse your curls with a mid-day pick-me-up.

Instructions

1. Shampoo your hair and then condition it with a moisturizing conditioner designed for chemically treated hair. Your perm needs moisture to control frizz and split ends and to keep it looking good all day.

2. Wrap your hair in a towel or pat it with a towel until it is damp, not dripping wet. Comb out the tangles with a wide-tooth comb to minimize hair breakage.

3. Apply a mousse to your hair. Mousse will help maintain the bounce and curl in your hair all day long. Squirt the mousse into your hand and apply it evenly over your hair.

4. Scrunch your permed hair to help the mousse saturate your hair; grab sections of hair at the end and literally scrunch them up to the roots.

5. Blow-dry your damp hair on the lowest heat setting and use a diffuser attachment. Scrunch your hair as you completely dry your hair to give your permed curls volume. If you don't blow-dry your hair, your curls may become hard and crunchy because of the mousse.

6. Spray your curls lightly with hair spray designed for curly hair.

7. Avoid touching your hair, wrapping ringlets around your finger or otherwise playing with your hair as much as possible. Friction will cause your permed hair to tangle and frizz.

8. Provide a mid- or late-day pick-me-up to your permed curls by lightly spraying or applying water to your hair. Scrunch your hair until it dries and spray it lightly to set the curls.

9. Backcomb - or tease - your curls gently if you find they have "fallen" during the day. To backcomb, hold a section of your hair straight up. With a teasing comb, brush the section toward your scalp in very fast and short strokes. Continue backcombing your hair until it reaches the volume you desire. Spray your hair lightly with hair spray, if desired.

10. Plug in a curling or flat iron for that midday pick-me-up, but only as a last resort. Overuse of heat will cause damage to your permed curls.

Stylish Haircuts For Teens

A teen haircut with layers and bangs

Teen hairstyles follow the same trends as adult hairstyles. Teen hairstyles are inspired by the runway and young holiday starlets, and they change frequently year to year. The main difference is that teens can be a little more playful and fun with their hair, because they don't have to worry about work dress codes or looking too young for their age.

Pixie

Pixie haircuts are adorable, chic, and incredibly trendy. Pixies come in all shapes and sizes, with different lengths and colors. Though pixie cuts vary, they are usually layered, razored, and very short. A person with the right face will look stunning in a pixie haircut. So what is the right face shape for a pixie haircut? Pixie cuts look great on people with finer features. If you have facial features that stand out drastically already, the pixie cut will emphasize those features. It is important to be comfortable with your face, because with this kind of haircut, it is going to be the center of attention. Celebrities such as Rihanna, Pink, and Katie Holmes have made this style very popular.

Bob

The bob is another popular celebrity haircut that looks great on teens. The bob isn't quite as short as the pixie, but instead is cut at chin level or a little above, with the longest layer being the same length around the entire head. Some bobs are layers to be longer in the front and shorter in the back, while some are the same length. Bobs are adorable curly or straight. Katie Holmes' haircut in 2009 is an example of an angled stylish bob. Victoria Beckham also has made this style famous. This style can be dressed up with hair accessories such as pretty pins, headbands, and barrettes, and can be worn with or without bangs.

Bangs

Bangs are a popular look for teenagers, especially if they are long enough to be versatile, allowing a different look every day. Longer bangs can be worn down in the face, swept to the side, or parted in the middle. They can also be pulled back into a mini bouffant on the top of your head, or pinned to the side. Bangs can be very edgy and trendy, but can be hidden when necessary for a more formal look. No matter what type of bangs you have, they must be razored on the ends so they are not too blunt or perfect. Straight, same-length bangs will cause you to look outdated.

Layers

Layers are extremely trendy among teens, no matter what length hair they have. Long layers are very popular, with layers cut all the way around the head to give the hair more movement and lift. One styling method for this cut is to use a curling iron or flat iron to create pieced waves, giving the hair a tousled, beachy look. Celebrities such as Blake Lively, Miley Cyrus and Jessica Simpson have made this style very stylish.

Style A Curled Updo

Curled updo hairstyles are elegant and work well for formal events such as weddings, proms or even a nice night out on the town. This style works best for ladies with medium or long hair, and with a little time and hair spray, you can create a beautiful look.

Instructions

1. Start with dry, straightened hair that has not been washed recently. Your hair has natural oils that can help keep the style longer. For women with curly hair, prestraightening with a straightening iron will make the styling easier.

2. Part your hair in the desired place using a comb, and then brush your hair into a loose-fitting ponytail. The ponytail should be midway up the back of your head, or up higher depending upon your desired look. You may opt to forgo a part and simply pull all your hair back in one direction. Rather than create a ponytail with a covered elastic band, twist your hair upward and secure the lower, twisted part with bobby pins. Loose hair should stick up and hang over the twisted part.

3. Separate the loose hair into four or more separate sections. Curl loose hair using small, tight or large, loose curls. As an alternative, use hot rollers to curl your hair. Consider spraying your hair with a volume-increasing curling spray to make the curls last.

4. Use bobby pins to secure curls around the twist, or simply let it flow loosely from the twist. To add a little visual interest, you can insert flowers or hairpiece decorations into the twist. You may also choose to spray hair-safe glitter to add some sparkle to your look.

5. Finish your style by spraying your hair with hair spray. Spray a considerable amount to keep your style in place. Some sprays create a firmer look, while others allow movement, so choose the type of hair spray that best suits you.

Remington Hot Rollers Instructions

Go from straight hair to curly hair by using hot rollers.

The Remington brand has been around since the early 1930s when it introduced its first electric dry shaver. The company manufactures grooming items, ranging from hair dryers and haircut kits to beard and mustache trimmers. Remington hot rollers can give you a head full of cascading curls in a short period of time.

Instructions

1. Place the Remington hot roller set on a heat-resistant, hard, flat surface.

2. Plug the hot roller set into a power outlet to heat. Wait approximately 10 minutes so the individual rollers can heat to an optimal curling temperature. Watch the indicator light for your "ready" signal.

3. Divide your hair into sections. Comb one section of hair until it's smooth. Each section should be no larger than the width of a roller. Hot rollers should only on be used on damp or dry hair.

4. Place a roller at the end of the hair section. Hold the hair and the roller, and wind them toward the scalp in the direction of the style you want. Secure the roller in place with a clip included in the set. Continue rolling until your entire head is set in rollers. Use a mirror to see the back of your head. Unplug the unit when finished.

5. Allow the rollers to cool before unwinding them. The longer the rollers remain in your hair, the curlier your hair will be. The rollers will begin to cool in about 10 minutes.

6. Remove the hair roller clip and unwind the roller, starting with the first roller you put in your hair and continuing in that order. Avoid pulling on the hair to allow the curl to bounce naturally.

7. Style your hair as desired using styling products suitable for your hair type.

Medium Hair Ideas For Homecoming

There are lots of formal styles to choose from for homecoming.

Every student wants to look their best for homecoming. Finding the perfect hairstyle to complement your outfit is all part of the fun of homecoming. There are lots of choices for medium length hair to suit every style and personality. Many styles can be achieved yourself at home with a little practice, without the assistance of a professional stylist. Ensure you practice in plenty of time so you can perfect your look for the big event and to avoid any stressful mishaps.

Sleek waves

Sleek waves look classic and sophisticated and work well for a formal event such as homecoming. The finished look will be glossy, neat and elegant. Sculpted waves can be created with a curling iron. Before putting heated curling irons to the hair ensure you protect it with a heat protecting spray or balm. Then start at the root and work the curling iron down the hair shaft. Run some serum through your hair to give it a glossy finish. Hair can then be pinned into a low bun at the nape of the neck or left flowing and loose.

Classic ponytail

A ponytail is not simply for bad hair days or when playing sports. Many celebrities have been seen wearing a well-groomed ponytail on the red carpet. A classic ponytail is an elegant alternative to a complex updo or loose hair. If you decide to wear your hair in a ponytail for homecoming think about the type of dress you will be wearing and how your ponytail may complement it. For a backless dress, a low side-ponytail with added curls will look stunning. Alternatively a high, straight ponytail can look elegant and shows off pretty facial features.

Halfway twist

A halfway twist is perfect for girls who want to wear their hair up, without it looking overstyled. This style may look like it has taken a long time to complete, but actually it can be achieved in a matter of minutes. Try the look by taking a front section of hair about an inch thick and wrapping around a large roller. With the remaining hair scoop back into a low ponytail and secure using an elastic. Take the ponytail and twist it. Clamp down the twist with a barrette allowing the remaining hair to tumble over the barrette. Remove the roller from the front section of hair and finish with hairspray.

Cut A Lace Wig To Fit Your Hairline

Be patient when fitting a lace wig.

Lace wigs and lace front wigs have made wearing these hairpieces much more comfortable. Unlike with nonlace wigs, the holes in lace allow air to circulate. They also allow the user to personalize the look of the wig, including trimming the hair itself into a particular style and trimming the hairline of the wig's lace to make it fit the user perfectly. Like most hairpieces, these wigs are an investment piece running several hundred dollars, so personalizing the wig should be done carefully and with precision.

Instructions

1. Secure your hair away from your face with bobby pins and make sure your actual hair is not visible when putting on the wig. If your hair is visible when you are looking to decide where to cut your lace wig, you could make an error and over- or undercut.

2. Put your lace wig on your head in the position you intend to wear it most often. Take note of how much you need to trim off the front of the lace wig to match your hairline. You can either mark the area where you need to trim with a pen the same shade as the wig, or you can count the number of holes in the lace at one section to know where to start trimming.

3. Practice cutting with some new scissors. New scissors will provide the most exact cut and smoothest motion, according to LaceFront-Wig.com.

4. Trim small amounts of the lace wig away from the hairline. Start with small amounts, and try the wig on between each small trim. This will help you avoid trimming too much off the edge of the lace wig when matching it to your hairline.

Care For Bleached Hair

Be gentle to your bleached hair to avoid any more damage.

The idea of having perfectly bleached-blond tresses may sound appealing, but bleaching the hair can cause some major damage to the hair shafts. According to the Hair Dressing website, hair bleaching causes the hair to become more porous and weaker. It damages the cuticles and causes split ends, leading to breakage. The best way to counteract the negative effects from bleaching is to moisturize the hair and allow the natural oils to penetrate the hair shaft. There are many tips that can help repair damage and further prevent it.

Instructions

Bleached Hair Care

1. Do not wash the hair every day. Washing the hair strips it of its natural oils, which provide moisture to the hair shafts. Bleached hair is already dry, so wash it only when necessary to allow the hair to accumulate natural oils for extra moisturizing and protection. When you do wash, use a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo with as few chemicals in it as possible. Wash the hair in lukewarm, not hot, water.

2. Use a conditioner every time you wash your hair. Choose a sulfate-free conditioner with few chemicals.

3. Deep condition the hair at least once a week. The Hair Boutique website suggests leaving the conditioner in the hair for 30 minutes.

4. Rinse the hair in cool or cold water after shampooing and conditioning. Colder water seals the cuticle, smoothing the hair and locking in moisture.

5. Use a hot-oil treatment once a week. According to the Daily Glow website, these treatments are a "good choice for dry hair or hair that's damaged, chemically treated, or subject to excessive heat styling."

6. Gently remove tangles and brush wet hair with a wide-tooth comb to prevent ripping through tangles, causing breakage.

7. Brush dry hair with a natural boar bristle brush, which distributes the hair's natural oils down the hair shafts.

8. Don't use heat-styling tools if possible. If you must use them, put them on the lowest heat setting. Apply a heat-activated protective serum or spray before using any heat-styling tool.

Adding volume to your short hair can give you more options when you style your hair. One way to give your hair some additional volume is to use hot rollers. Instructions For A Home Perm

Get natural-looking curls with a home perm.

Many people shy away from doing home perms because they have heard disaster stories of self perming. Home perms, though, are inexpensive and are easy to perform by yourself or with the help of a friend. With the proper methods and procedures you can get beautiful curls with a home perm.

Instructions

1. Wash hair thoroughly with shampoo and conditioner. Do not scrub the scalp. Leave hair wet, but not dripping. Use a towel to blot any excess water.

2. Section your hair into seven sections using hair clips. There should be one section at the crown of the head, one section from the hairline to the crown, two on the sides and three equal sections at the back of the head.

3. Un-clip the section of hair at the crown of the head. Wrap the hair around the perming rod toward the back of the head. Secure the rod using a bobby pin. If the hair starts to dry at any time while you are wrapping use a spray bottle filled with water to dampen it again.

4. Move to the section that begins at the hairline and un-clip it. Wrap the hair around a perming rod toward the face. Secure the rod in place.

5. Un-clip one of the side sections of hair. Wrap it around a curling rod in a downward motion. Do the same for the other side. Secure the rod using a bobby pin.

6. Un-clip each section of hair at the back of the head and wrap each one around its own rod in a downward motion. Secure each rod with a bobby pin.

7. Rub a small amount of Vaseline around the hairline. This will keep the perming solution from getting onto the skin and irritating it.

8. Apply perming solution to each section of hair that is wrapped around a curling rod. Do not miss any hair. Leave the solution in the hair according to the manufacturer's instructions. Each brand of home perm will be different.

9. Rinse hair, with rods still in place, with lukewarm water. Use an old towel to blot it dry.

10. Neutralize the hair with the neutralizing solution that was provided in the home perm kit.

11. Gently remove the perming rods from the hair and rinse hair thoroughly. Do not use shampoo or you may wash out the perming solution.

12. Apply any conditioner that was in the home perm kit to the hair and avoid brushing or stretching hair for the next day.

What Is A Semiformal Dress

Semi-formal dresses are an integral part of any woman's wardrobe, worn during special occasions that require something less than the most formal black-tie attire, yet a more formal look than casual clothing creates.

History

During the first half of the 20th Century, semi-formal dresses were part of the dress code known as "late afternoon." During this time period, women wore dress suits or afternoon skirts and dresses that were slightly more modest than the elaborate evening gowns worn. This dress code evolved over time, and by the 1980s, semi-formal dresses meant cocktail dresses in luxury fabrics, leading to the wider array of semi-formal dress options available today.

Function

A semi-formal dress is not only a piece of clothing, but it is a form of etiquette. This type of dress is a sign of respect honoring a certain occasion, from weddings and proms to award ceremonies and religious rites of passage, such as bat mitzvahs.

Features

Semi-formal dresses usually include long evening gowns and shorter cocktail dresses, with the former often made of more luxurious fabrics, such as silk or satin, and cocktail gowns made of a wider range of fabrics. Cocktail dresses are usually hemmed around the knee, but this can vary depending on local customs and trends.

Time Frame

Semi-formal is also known as "after 5," representing the type of clothing that should be worn in the evening or night-time. It includes both cocktail dresses and evening gowns. During the daytime, however, semi-formal dresses are generally shorter, falling at or above the knee.

Fun Fact

One of the most common types of semi-formal dresses is the "little black dress," or LBD, first introduced by French designer Coco Chanel in the 1920s and later popularized by Audrey Hepburn in the film "Breakfast at Tiffany's." These days, this semi-formal clothing item is a common staple in the wardrobe of many women.

Make A Fairy Hair Bow Holder

Craft a take-home favor for a fairy birthday party.

Create a useful fairy craft. Young party guests can make a hair bow holder with wings at a fairy-themed party. This is a great activity for quieting down slumber party guests. Let the girls choose whether they want their hair bow holder to have a woodland fairy or a sparkle fairy look. These bow holders have dangling ribbons to clip hair bows onto, and a bar for hair ribbons without clips. They can hang in a closet or on a hook on the wall.

Instructions

Woodland Fairy Hair Bow Holder

1. Cut four 18-inch lengths of ribbon. On each ribbon, cut one end straight and the other at a 45-degree angle.

2. Fold the straight end of a ribbon over the bar at the bottom of a plastic hanger, so that it hangs down 1 inch in the back. Pin this end of the ribbon to the ribbon in front with a safety pin. Attach the other three ribbons in the same way.

3. Wrap a strand of silk ivy around the hanger and hold it in place with 2-inch pieces of green pipe cleaner.

4. Add small craft butterflies to the hanger by wrapping the wire on the butterfly around the hanger.

Sparkle Fairy Hair Bow Holder

5. Attach ribbons to the hanger as described in the previous section.

6. Wrap several sparkly pipe cleaners around the hanger.

7. Attach craft fairy wings to the hanger by wrapping the wire on the wings around the hanger.

Massage And Relaxation Tools

Relieving stress through relaxation can make life feel better.

Stress comes at us from all sides: home, work, health and finances. Stress can damage your health. Relaxation and massage are just two ways to lower your stress level and find peace. You can use many relaxation tools by yourself, on yourself.

Relax With Sound and Imagery

Some people are more relaxed when they are out enjoying nature.

Sound can be relaxing. Soothing music, white noise and nature sounds are all used to aid relaxation. White noise machines and relaxing music on a variety of media are available from department and music stores, online and from local artists. Some recorded media may include subliminal messages that encourage you to relax as you listen to music or sounds.

Relaxation meditation can be learned in a few easy steps. Take a deep breath and follow your breath inside to your center. Release the breath and relax. Decide what you would like to release or change to experience less stress. Spend a few minutes meditating on the steps that could make change a reality. As you return your attention to your surroundings, bring the information with you and act on it.

Guided Imagery is similar to meditation. You begin with following your breath as you did in meditation. With guided imagery, add your senses to the experience. See, feel, taste, hear and touch what it is like to be in your peaceful place. See yourself completing the steps that lead to a more relaxed and peaceful life. See yourself accomplishing these steps. Experience what it would be like to have a more peaceful, relaxed life before returning to your present time and place.

Therapeutic Touch

Therapeutic touch uses energy to promote relaxation and healing.

Therapeutic touch uses light touch and the focused energy of the practitioner to balance the energy fields of the recipient. Therapeutic touch can assist relaxation. It has been shown to reduce pain, improve health and ease dying. Health practitioners worldwide use it to decrease stress, improve relaxation and promote healing. Therapeutic touch is so effective many medical and nursing school include it as part of the curriculum.

Massage Tools

Massage tools vary from simple to more complex equipment.

Heat, before or during a massage, can be a great tool to help tissues and muscles relax. Heat draws blood to sore and tired muscles, allowing the body to begin to heal. Massage further relaxes tissues and encourages good circulation and blood flow to the body. Many hand-held massagers are employed in massage. Hand-held massage tools may include vibration, heat, percussion or a combination of these. The skillful hands of a trained massage therapist are used to promote good health and relaxation.

Scented oils and lotions, candles, aromatherapy machines, and incense are just a few ways to add smell to massage. Lavender, jasmine, and rose are relaxing scents. Cinnamon, peppermint and ginger are more invigorating scents.

Massage chairs and collapsing tables are valuable tools for taking massage to the client. There are a variety of chair and table models, but the most important features are portability and putting the recipient in a relaxing, but accessible posture for massage.

Male Teen Hairstyles

This teen has a short hairstyle.

Teen boys wear a variety of hairstyles to match with a variety of personalities. As of 2011, the modern boy's hair is nearly as varied as the modern girl's is, and there are several styling options for each length of hair. Unless there are strict styling rules in the teen's school, the teen should choose his own hairstyle to reflect his personality.

Long

Long hair for teen guys is hair that is well below the ears and collar. In some cases, the hair may even be shoulder length. Many schools do not allow hair of this length, but some do. Long hair is often the most un-styled and natural of any male teen's hairstyle. Boys typically wear this style of hair to rebel against their childhood haircuts or because they don't feel like getting their hair cut. Most long hair does not have bangs and can be worn curly or straight.

Medium

Medium-length hair is long enough to cover the ears but not long enough to tie back. Medium-length hair is favored by the hipster crowd, scene teens and emo teens. Medium-length hair can be cut long in the front with long sweeping bangs. The hair may also be left shaggy. This style of hair usually has bangs with it, whether the boy has curly hair or straight hair. Medium-length hair can have a part down the middle of the hair or along the side. Some extreme teens may spike their medium-length hair.

Short

Short hairstyles are often preferred by teens who are clean-cut and avoid trends such as the hipster trend or emo style. Short hairstyles are also favored by teens interested in a military career. Most teen short hairstyles are cut just at the ears or slightly above the ears. The cut is made with mechanical clippers and cut about ½ to 2 inches away from the head. The top is often left a little longer, to allow for spiking or styling with gel or mousse. Sometimes teens add bangs to this hairstyle, but more often than not, they keep the top hair short enough to remain out of their faces.

Very Short

Very short hair is anything shorter than ½ inch, or even completely bare. Some teen boys sport the buzzed look to look intimidating or simply to have a low-maintenance style. Typically, this style is created with the lowest setting on the mechanical clippers. Sometimes the hair is cut a little longer on the top, to create the "high and tight" look favored by military men. Typically, the top of the hair is never more than ¼ inch longer than the sides.

Safety Concerns For Getting A Hair Perm

Perms often have a notorious reputation. There are plenty of safety concerns regarding perms that you need to understand before your next visit to a salon or purchasing a home kit. The most important areas to consider before getting a perm is the level of dryness it can create on your scalp, the type of hair loss it might cause, what types of harmful chemicals are used and the hassles of maintenance.

Dryness

People with psoriasis or extensive dandruff should avoid perms. One way to avoid certain levels of dry scalp is to line your scalp, before applying the perm solution, with either Vaseline or a thick, nonscented body lotion coated in aloe vera. However, be careful not to grease your scalp line too much or else the chemicals of the perm solution might not take to your hair.

Hair Loss

Perms, often when self-applied or done improperly, can cause hair loss. Often, if hair has breakage and dries out, it can take six months to a year for a full head of healthy hair to grow back. Unfortunately, perms are extremely popular with older clients for their presumed ease of maintenance, but perms are one of the most unhealthy options for hair care at this age because the hair is at its thinnest and driest. In rare cases, particularly with older clients, not all the hair will grow again along the natural scalp line.

Harmful Chemicals

Most chemicals need to set at 212 degrees Farenheit, so chemicals in the perm solution are extremely toxic and can burn the scalp line easily. If you feel burning along your scalp line or if you see pink or red patches of inflamed scalp, immediately rinse.

Maintenance

Maintaining a perm can initially be expensive if you do not already have the necessary hair care products. Be sure to use a pre-conditioner before applying the perm solution and deep conditioner afterward. Do not shower for at least 24-48 hours after rinsing your hair from the initial perm solution to allow your hair time to heal.

Further warnings

Perms can give dull, limp hair a full head of curls. However, not everyone's hair takes to a perm easily. Some hair types and textures might not take to a perm solution, and will cause slight waves or kinky, frizzy hair.
