Do My Hair For The Holidays

Use sequined hair pins to create a festive look.

Whether you're going to an office party or just catching up with old friends, you'll want to look your best at the holidays. It's not necessary to make a trip to the salon for a professional updo. Style your hair differently than your everyday look to make yourself look instantly fresh and ready for a party. Keep your hair looking its best by deep-conditioning it the day of a big event. Carry a small bottle of hairspray so you can tame it quickly while you're on the go.

Instructions

Long Hair

1. Tease the hair at the top of your head. Lift up a section of hair right above your forehead. Use a comb to brush down the back of the hair. Gently lay hair down and smooth the top of the teased section with your hand.

2. Pull back all your hair to the back of your head. Do this gently so you don't flatten the teased hair. Secure the ponytail with an elastic band.

3. Braid the ponytail. Twist the braid into a bun around the elastic. Tuck the ends under the bun and secure them with bobby pins.

Short Hair

4. Part your hair using a comb. Create a side part. Part it on the opposite side than usual to create a special look. Apply some shine serum to smooth the hair down and make it shiny.

5. Twist two sections of hair behind your ears. Start with the section of hair on the low side of the part. Use two bobby pins to secure the twist behind your ear.

6. Twist the hair on the other side of your head. Start at the same point on your head as the other twist so they're even. Secure it with bobby pins. If you have bangs, pull them out. Arrange them so they sweep across your forehead.

Curly Hair

7. Wash your hair. Apply curl-enhancing gel or mousse and finish with an anti-frizz product. Let your hair air dry or use a blow dryer with a diffuser to dry it.

8. Use a small-barrel curling iron to curl any frizzy or limp locks. Use a mirror to check the back of your hair. If you're in a hurry, focus on just the curls around your face.

9. Place a headband on your head about an inch or two away from your hairline. Choose a festive band such as one that's covered in sequins. A plain band with a single flower on one side also makes a statement.
