Create A Side Hairdo

A side hairdo is a hairstyle that allows the hair to be pulled more toward either the right or the left side of the head. Side hairdos can be formal and elegant or casual for everyday wear. Create a Side Hairdo

1. Spritz detangling spray on the hair. Use a wide-tooth comb for thick hair or a fine-tooth comb for fine or thin hair and comb the detangler through from root to tip. The purpose of using detangling spray is to detangle knots that are already in the hair and to prevent them from developing during the styling process. This is an important step as it will prevent further steps from having to be repeated.

2. Use mousse to hold the hair in place and add volume. For thick, coarse hair use only a dime-sized amount. For thin or fine hair use an amount the size of a quarter. Apply the mousse by rubbing it in your palms and then placing your palms on the hair. Be sure that the mousse is distributed evenly.

3. Use a brush to brush the hair to either the left side or the right side, whichever is preferred. For coarse hair use a boar bristle brush to prevent additional split ends or breakage. For fine hair use a round brush with thin bristles.

4. Use a hair tie to tie the hair to the side of the head. Use a brush or a comb to smooth the ponytail.

5. Use bobby pins to hold the strands of hair in place. It's ideal to use bobby pins that match your hair color to create a more natural look.

6. Use a curling iron to create large curls. This can be done by heating the curling iron, taking portions of the hair that are about an inch in width, placing the iron at the tip of the hair, and rolling the iron in a sideways direction. Keep the iron in place for approximately 10 seconds, and then release the hair from the iron. Repeat this step with the entire ponytail.

7. Spray on hairspray for extra hold.
