Make An Anime Hairstyle

Anime characters have strange and unique hairstyles for multiple reasons. The unnatural colors, sharp spikes and long, thick ponytails are to separate one character from another, and each style also goes a long way into establishing a character's personality. 1. Know the personality you want to reflect; the hairstyle goes a long way in depicting this. For example, charming, romantic characters often have thick hair with bangs, sweeps and curls. Spiked hair is usually for characters of action and adrenaline.

2. Decide if you want to color your hair an unnatural, crazy color to go with the hairstyle. Once again, the color will help determine the personality: Blue hair is frequently used for shy characters, while red often reflects confident action girls or humble, skilled males. Follow all instructions for your hair dye or have a professional stylist do it.

3. Tease your hair if it needs extra volume. This is done with a "rat tail" comb; grab a section of hair and comb it in short, sharp strokes from the ends to the scalp. This works especially well with pigtails or ponytails.

7. Add extensions to your hair if you want it to be extra long. You can dye and tease these extensions with little worry of damaging your own hair.
