Short To Medium Haircuts For Round Faces

Choosing to wear your hair in a short or medium style is up to you. Just keep in mind that face shape is important when choosing the best hairstyle for yourself. If you've got a round face, you need to know what looks to gravitate toward and which to avoid.

Face Shape

If you're trying to decide if you have a round face, you can judge for yourself by looking at a few features. Round faces are widest at the ear and cheek level, and the length of the face is close, if not equal to, the width. If you have a round face, you'll have a rounded hairline and chin.

Short Styles

Now that you have determined your face shape, you can choose one of the many short styles that will look right on you. Hair can be cropped extremely short or have a longer, shaggy look.

Choose a short hairstyle that will frame the face with layers. Layers add softness and a slimming effect when styled at the sides of the face. If you choose to wear your short style curly, avoid curling near the sides of the face. Instead, curl the crown for a flirty lift.

Make sure you have fullness at the crown of the head to create height. This will give the illusion of a longer, slimmer face and therefore create a more flattering look.

Medium Looks

For medium hairstyles, you can wear your hair wavy or straight, but avoid one-length cuts. The most unflattering style on a round face is flat, one-length hair, with blunt straight bangs. With a few slight variations, this look can be turned into a sexy medium style.

Instead of blunt bangs that hang straight down into your eyes, shortening the face, go for long, layered bangs. With layered bangs you can wear them swept across the forehead or clipped back, when you want a more sleek look. Adding long layers to your hair will add movement and take out the bulky look of hair.

Make sure the only fullness you create in your hairstyle is in the crown of the head. Keep the sides slim and closer to the face. Long angled layers at the front of the face will create a sexy, face-framing look. Wear this style by leaving your hair down, or leave some loose tendrils when you pull your hair up in a sexy updo.
