Haircuts For Girls With Long Hair

Haircuts for Girls With Long Hair

There are thousands of different haircuts for girls with long hair. Long hair leaves so much room for different trimming and styling techniques that the possibilities are truly endless. It also tends to look adorable on girls of any age and with any face shape. However, remember that the longer your hair is, the more tangles you will have. Keep the cut shorter than waist length for the best results. Hair longer than waist length not only develops terrible tangles, it often ends up getting sat on.

Basics

Long hair is usually trimmed in one of three different styles. It can be trimmed straight across in a sharp line, in an oval with a gentle line or in a "V" with a sharp or gentle line. These three different styles can then be paired with an assortment of bangs, layering and shaping to create any look.

Natural

A natural haircut works for straight, wavy or curly long hair. Cut the ends in a gentle oval shape, with the hair in the middle of the back slightly longer than the hair at the sides. If you want some bangs, cut them medium-length and side-swept. If you need a little extra definition, use some light layering around the head. If you do get layering, remember that it can make ponytails, pigtails and braids look a little messy.

Clean

To create a very clean and neat style for long hair, you must start with straight or wavy locks. Cut the ends straight across in a sharp line. The bulk of the hair should be, and remain, one length for this style to look good. Finish the style with some short, blunt bangs. This even cut is great for girls who like to wear their hair in sleek ponytails, pigtails or braids.

Carefree

A shaggy cut on straight, wavy or curly long hair gives a very carefree feel. Cut the hair in an oval or "V" shape. Taper the ends of the hair for a rough line and add heavy, shaggy layering around the head. Cut the bangs long and at a slight angle with shaggy layering. Though this style can be pulled up into pigtails, ponytails and braids, the uneven layering creates a very rough look.

Urban

For a long girl's haircut with an urban feel, try some angles and choppy layering. Cut the hair at the back of the head in a "V" with a sharp line. Use heavy, angled layers across the head with a gradually shorter line as the side hair gets closer to the front. Trim the bangs in an inverted circle, with the hair in the middle of the forehead shorter than the hair at the sides. Add some choppy layers to the bangs to help blend them in with the rest of the style. Though this cut works for ponytails and pigtails, it tends to look terrible when braided.
