Cute & Short Hairstyles For Teen Girls

Experimenting with hair is practically a rite of passage for teen girls. Hair can be used as a means for her to express herself or something she can do when she feels like she needs a change. Since hair grows--making every haircut temporary--there are tons of styles she can choose from that will be both cute and flirty. Consider letting her experiment with different styles by pinning her hair up or taking the advice of a hair stylist before she takes the plunge.

Before You Begin

Have her look through her favorite magazine, find pictures of her favorite celebrities or decide on a look she knows she wants. Take these examples to the hair stylist so there will be no questions or surprises on cut it. Consider face shape as well. Very short hairstyles don't always work on those with heart-shaped or round faces--girls with those kinds of faces should try for bobs instead of very short cuts.

Long Bangs

A bob is cute and simple, but long, side-swept bangs add a bit of drama. This is a style that suits a girl who usually parts her hair on the side or with thin hair. The side part will give her a bit of extra volume while the bangs in front add a hint of mystery.

Pixie Cut

A short layered cut looks great on those with long, slender faces and thin hair. This cut suits a girl who want a low-maintenance 'do--she'll simply step out of the shower and let it air dry. Blow-drying it, however, and adding a little bit of hairspray, will give it a little lift.

Bob with Heavy Bangs

A bob with heavy bangs is an option for those with larger facial features; it gives the bob cut some extra edge. As seen on the singing sensation "Lady Gaga", a chin-length bob with big chunky bangs gives those with oval and round faces a bit of a rockeresque vibe while still wearing a classic haircut.

The Boy Haircut

A boy-cut hair style (cut exactly like it sounds, to resemble a male haircut) can give a girl a much- needed change. This hairstyle is especially good for someone with hair that has been over processed with tons of dye and bleach products--a short hairstyle will get it back to its healthy roots. Consider teasing it a bit at the root to give it the appearance of a little extra volume. Don't forget to spritz with a little hairspray.
