Care For Textured Hair

Textured hair may be thicker and more course than other hair types. For this reason, extra care may be needed to keep the hair looking healthy. In addition, various processes such as straightening, coloring and relaxing can weaken the hair. More conditioning, along with the use of moisturizing products may help.

Instructions

1. Drinking plenty of water, eating a balanced diet and maintaining good health are vital steps to cultivate healthy hair and overall appearance.

2. Supplement. A multivitamin has benefits for the body, as well as the hair. Omega-3 capsules can be especially helpful for those with textured hair, as it will help with dryness that may typically occur. In addition, omega-3 is thought to stimulate growth and shine.

3. Wear a hat, or use shampoos and conditioners that contain sunscreen. Environmental protection is needed to guard against damage that can occur with sun exposure. Harsh UV rays can break down the keratin in hair, causing hair to fade and become brittle.

4. Shampoo regularly to help decrease build up on the hair. Textured hair may not require daily washing, however, cleansing is needed to remove products that may build up and cause the hair to appear dull.

5. Trim hair regularly to keep it healthy. The ends of the hair may become easily damaged and can travel up the hair shaft, spreading damage. Textured hair may need frequent trimming due to the use of flat irons or other damaging elements.
