Women'S Short Curly Hair Styles

Short, curly hair is the most versatile in terms of hairstyling options. Curls can look spunky or downright glamorous, depending on what is done with them, and shorter hair can look youthful and frame the face. Four specific hairstyles for short, curly hair can take a woman through any occasion.

Bob

If you need an everyday look that looks simultaneously fun and professional, try a bob. The length of the hair lets the curls fall naturally around the face and thus looks more businesslike; yet with a little styling gel or spray to keep away frizz, bobbed curls also give the impression of life and volume, debunking the idea that you are all work and no play. The bob can be worn with any outfit, so there's no need to "let your hair down" after work or to pin it back up for the date you have later in the evening.

Messy Curls and Frizz

If your short, naturally curly hair is a bit on the wild side, don't hide it---utilize it. Try putting a little gel on your fingers and then running it haphazardly through your curls. This cute, messy look shows that even though appearance may be important, it isn't going to control you---you are the master of your life. If you are adventurous and your hair frizzes constantly, go ahead and go high fashion, making your frizz a statement. The benefit of embracing the untamed nature of your hair is that you are free to accept other wilder areas of fashion, as well (think leopard prints here).

Bang Sweep

If you need a look that is glamorous, try a bang sweep. To achieve this look, glitz up your curls by carefully separating them with gel or hair spray---this makes the curls distinct and adds shine and control. Straighten a few curls in the very front and sweep them tightly across the forehead, away from your part. Then tuck the straightened strands underneath the hair on that side of your head and tuck them behind your ear. Secure them with a thin clip, cloth or hard headband, or a few bobby pins. Once this is done, you can add just a touch of glitter spray if desired.

Pixie

If you don't like fussing with your curls, cut your curls super short. They will curl naturally around the scalp, giving contour and volume, yet they are short enough to be out of the way, require no clips or other accessories, and take less time to comb or brush through. When you do want to add a little more attention to your hair, you can tease the curls up a bit with gel to gain some volume.
