Dress Like Miss America

Halloween is a time of the year when people get to put on costumes and dress up as people or characters that are different from everyday life. Dressing as Miss America is a creative way to express your beauty in costume. In a few simple steps, you can look just as beautiful as Miss America.

Instructions

1. Wear a fancy dress, such as an old bridesmaid or prom dress. Choose a dress that is long and flowing. If you don’t have any dresses or gowns on hand, check local thrift stores or garage sales.

2. Wear a sash over the dress, or create one of your own. On a long piece of fabric, write the words, “Miss America” and the year. Wrap the sash around one shoulder and tie at the opposite hip.

3. Wear jewelry, such as a necklace made of pearls or cubic zirconium, since it may not be safe to trick or treat with an actual diamond necklace. Also wear a tennis bracelet. The bracelet can be made of pearls, cubic zirconium, gold or silver. Wear earrings to match the dress.

4. Wear a pair of natural-colored nylons and high heels that match the dress's color. If you'll walk a long distance trick or treating, consider wearing pumps. Do not wear open-toed shoes or sandals with nylons.

5. Wear a tiara. Find a nice tiara at your local thrift store or a fake one at your local big box store, such as Target or Walmart.

6. Wear makeup: foundation, concealer, powder and blush. Shape your eyebrows. If necessary, apply eyebrow powder. Apply eye shadow, eye liner and mascara. Finish off the look with some lip liner, lipstick and gloss.

7. Carry a bouquet of live or silk flowers, preferably red roses. Find them at local flower shops or grocery stores. Craft stores carry silk flowers.
