Trim Bangs At Home

Only use hair shears, instead of regular scissors, when cutting your own hair.

When your bangs need a little trim, you don't have to run to an expensive stylist to have them cut. Instead, try cutting your bangs at home. When cutting your own bangs, it is important to take your time and use quality hair shears. Rushing the process or using ordinary household scissors to trim your bangs is likely to leave them looking choppy and unprofessionally groomed.

Instructions

1. Wash and dry your hair before cutting. Do not cut your bangs while they are wet. If you do, your hair will appear much shorter after it dries.

2. Stand in front of a free standing mirror, such as a bathroom mirror, and comb your bangs straight. Clip the sides of your hair back, or on top of your head.

3. Run the comb through the bangs while pulling up at a slight angle. This will pull the bangs away from your forehead. Stop the comb approximately 1/2 inch from the end of the hair. Hold the hair between the length of your thumb and index finger.

4. Hold the hair shears at a 45 degree angle, tip pointing up, and make 1/4 inch long snips along the end of the bangs. Work your way from one end of the bangs to the other. Style as desired. If the bangs are still too long, repeat the process.
