Curly hair is typical of a Victorian hairstyle.
The Victorian era was known for elegant hairstyles that are still considered beautiful today. While complex curls are a characteristic of these styles, there are some simpler styles that are very Victorian and can add a bit of everyday elegance. These instructions are for a style called the Gibson Tuck, which is simple enough for everyday wear. The style can be decorated with combs, flowers or ribbons for a more complex look.
Instructions
1. Pull your hair back into a ponytail.
2. Pull the hair apart at the top of the ponytail and form a pocket in the hair.
3. Flip your ponytail over the top and into the pocket. Wind your hair around in a sort of bun to get it to fit, but do not pull your ponytail through.
4. Secure your hair with bobby pins.
5. Add complexity to the look by adding a comb, flowers or ribbons. You can also pull some hair from the front and curl it into ringlets with a curling iron.
