Make Snoods

Women can choose from a multitude of fabrics when creating their snoods.

Snoods resemble decorative hairpieces and come in many styles. They go over the head and close in the back. Snoods can fully cover a women's head, or she can choose to let some strands of hair wisp out of it. Women with any hair type and length can wear snoods. Whether you want to wear a snood for work, a special occasion, or a sporting event, you can make snoods easily and inexpensively.

Instructions

1. Decide on the pattern you want to use to make a snood. Choose from net material, fabrics, denim, sheer fabrics, and wool. Base your decision on current temperatures in your area and the occasion for which you plan to wear your snood.

2. Use a tape measure to determine the dimensions of your head. Decide how much fabric to use based on the measurements.

3. Fold the fabric in half and check that the width is half of your head's diameter and that the length is approximately as long as your head. Cut the corners off the bottom edges to give it a nice, rounded shape.

4. Unfold the your fabric and fold the top edge 1.5 inches. Sew directly across the folded fabric. Use this as a tube to put your drawstring through.

5. Refold the hairpiece in half and place the rough side of your fabric facing up. Sew the bottom and surrounding sides near the edges, but make sure you leave enough room for your drawstring tube.
