Do A Pageant Hairstyle

The right tools can give you a long-lasting, versatile hairstyle.

Beauty pageants were once famous for bright makeup and big hair. The emphasis has shifted to makeup that showcases a contestant's natural beauty and hair that is simple, soft and easy. The trend brings out a contestant's best features and puts the attention on her talent and personality. When planning and practicing your pageant hairstyle, choose a style that can easily transform throughout the pageant.

Instructions

1. Apply a volumizing spray and a dry shampoo to your hair.

2. Backcomb the hair at the top of your head to add volume.

3. Wrap 1-inch sections of hair around a medium-sized barrel curling iron. Hold the hair in place instead of using the clamp to create soft waves. Repeat until your entire head has been styled and mist with hairspray.

4. Gather your hair to form a loose, low ponytail. Make sure you do not pull too tightly, which can take the volume out of your hair.

5. Take hold of the ponytail and twist it in a counterclockwise motion.

6. Secure the twist with bobby pins.

7. Touch up the waves with the curling iron and apply hairspray.
