Do Pinup Hair

Pin-up models commonly used hair rollers to curl their hair.

A classic pin-up girl or pin-up model has a look that was widely popular starting in the 1920.. Creating pin-up hair is a fun and flirty way to add a vintage touch to any outfit or costume. Classic pin-up hair is often based off of iconic celebrities such as Betty Page and Diana Dors. When looking for inspiration for pin-up hair, browse photos of popular pin-up models for a multitude of ideas. You can create pin-up hair with just 10 minutes and a few simple hairstyling supplies.

Instructions

1. Shampoo and condition your hair to remove any debris that might interfere with the styling process. Towel-dry or air-dry your hair completely; do not use a blow-dryer because it removes the luster that's a trademark of pin-up hair.

2. Part your hair to one side of your scalp using a hairbrush; the part should be centered over one eye to add volume to the larger half of the hair.

3. Using the curling iron, curl the length of your hair to implement soft waves throughout. Coat the waves with an even layer of hairspray after curling to make sure the look lasts. Classic pin-up hair has large and wavy curls.

4. Use the flowered hair pin to pin the hair back on the smaller half of the part. Pin the hair just above the ear so that it frames the forehead while keeping the hair out of the face. For a truly classic pin-up appeal, use a hair pin with a large red flower.

5. Style the half of the hair without the hair pin so that it hangs gracefully over your shoulder to complete the look. Alternatively, you can brush your hair upward and pin it back so that the curls and waves spill elegantly from the top of your head.
