Why Do We Need To Scarf Our Hair Before We Go To Sleep

Wrapping hair in a silk scarf can help you wake up with smooth, shiny and healthy hair.

Although many women tend to go to bed with their hair simply down or up in a ponytail, sleeping with a scarf in your hair can help maintain healthy hair and keep it tame. If you want to promote the health of your hair, learn why you should scarf up your hair before you hit the hay to keep it healthy.

Who Can Benefit

Anyone wanting to promote healthy hair should consider wrapping their hair in a hair scarf at night. People who should definitely wrap their hair at night to protect it are those with long hair, especially hair that flows past the shoulder blades. Also, if you want to keep a hairstyle-- such as if you have lots of curls or want to maintain straightness--wrapping your hair at night can help you do so.

Preventing Tangles

Avoiding tangles is one of the main benefits of putting your hair in a scarf at night. As you sleep, your head tosses and shifts throughout the night, and hair also gets matted on the blanket. This can lead to some serious tangles and mats in your hair, which in turn can cause breakage when you attempt to comb them out in the morning.

Breakage At Night

While tangles can cause breakage in the morning, sleeping with your hair unwrapped can also cause breakage. A common cause is the fabric of your pillowcase, commonly cotton fabrics, which hair can get caught on and subsequently break as you move around at night. Your hair may also get wrapped or entangled in your pajamas, if it is past your shoulders or in your arms and hands as you sleep. Keeping it wrapped up can prevent nighttime breakage considerably.

Nighttime Dryness

Dry hair can cause damage and weaken hair, making it more susceptible to breakage, and giving it a lackluster look, which is why you should also wear a scarf at night. Many of your common pillowcase fabrics can pull moisture and essential oils your hair needs out of hair, leaving it dryer and more brittle come morning. To prevent this, you can wear a head scarf and sleep on a satin pillowcase, as satin draw moisture in as much as other fabrics will.

Fabrics To Use

While scarves tend to come in a variety of materials, for a nighttime head scarf you want to stick to a satin or silk material. These will hold hair in place without pulling away moisture. Also, thanks to these materials' softness, hair will glide easily against them and not get caught in their fibers.

Wrapping

How you choose to wrap your scarf is also important to insuring your hair gets the most benefit from it. One method is to wrap the scarf around your forehead, bring it underneath your hair at the base of the neck and tie up ends. With this method though, you need to insure you don't get any hair caught in the knot, which can be difficult as you can't see the back of your neck. Another method is to gather hair into the scarf at the nape of your neck and tie ends together atop your head, so that you can easily see hair and insure you don't tie it into your knot.

Care For A Wave Nouveau

The Wave Nouveau is a permanent which produces a texture or curl pattern in African-American hair. The Wave Nouveau can be transformed into a straight or curly hairstyle, makes unruly hair easier to manage and for some, encourages hair growth. Knowledge of the proper way to care for a Wave Nouveau can extend its life and prevent hair damage.

Instructions

1. Avoid washing hair for 48 hours after the Wave Nouveau application. Newly permed hair is fragile due to the chemical processes involved in applying them. Washing hair can strip it of moisture, making each strand susceptible to breakage. During this period supply the hair with constant moisture by scrunching glycerin and propylene glycol-rich products like Wave Nouveau Coiffure Moisturizing Lotion, Wave Nouveau Coiffure Moisturizing Mist and Wave Nouveau Coiffure Daily Humectant through the hair. Blot with a towel to remove excess moisture.

2. Apply light moisture to hair daily. One humectant product used sparingly once or twice a day is sufficient. Comb moisturized hair with a wide tooth comb. Wear curly hair loose or in protective styles like buns and braids. Transform hair from curly to straight using ceramic flat or curling irons. Create new styles by roller setting or molding the hair in a wrap and sitting under a hooded dryer. Brush hair only when wearing as a straight hairstyle.

3. Sleep with hair in a satin bonnet to help it retain moisture. Upon waking pull on the curls to elongate them. Put moisturizing product into your hands, then into your hair, scrunching the product through the length of the hair to revitalize the curl.

4. Wash and condition hair twice a month. Cleanse hair with a moisturizing shampoo for curly hair, then use a hydrating conditioner. Once a month apply a moisturizing and detangling deep conditioner after washing and conditioning. Comb the deep conditioner through hair from front to back with a wide tooth comb. Put hair up in plastic wrap or a plastic conditioning cap. Place a thermal heat cap on top of the plastic conditioning cap. Remove the caps and rinse hair after 20 to 30 minutes. Scrunch layers of moisturizing products through the hair to replace moisture lost during the cleansing process after each wash and condition.

5. Trim ends with each repeat Wave Nouveau application. Previously permed hair incurs more damage with each treatment and can become dehydrated with straight or stringy ends that detract from the perm's appearance.

Use Texture Paste

Once texture paste has dried, the artist can scratch and sand it for added effects.

Artist use texture paste to build up and define shapes and areas on mediums such as canvas, paper and card stock. Texture paste is thick and allows artists to create various textures by using a brush or palette knife to spread, scratch and form shapes easier than they are able to do with paint alone. Add color by mixing texture paste with acrylic paint, or directly paint the texture when it has dried on the surface you intend to paint. Once the texture has dried, an artist can sand, carve or scrape the paste to modify the textured surface.

Instructions

Paintings

1. Mix texture paste with acrylic paint to add color and increase volume. Add a little paint at a time, increasing the paint amount until you reach the desired color. (As an alternative, apply paint over the texture with acrylic color or oil paint after you complete the following steps and let the texture dry.

2. Use a finger, knife or brush to apply texture paste to a clean and non-oily medium such as a canvas or paper. Spread the texture like butter, creating ridges and valleys if desired. Repeat the process to build up layers. Allow each layer to dry completely to avoid any cracking.

3. Create different textures and shapes while the paste is still wet by using tools such as a palette knife, a paintbrush or your fingers; or press in patterns using a pattern you like from any object such as a mold or a feather.

4. Add in materials like sand or saw wood to build and create effects.

5. Carve or sand the surface, if desired, once it dries.

6. Paint the textured surface if you did not add paint to the texture, or even if you did color the paste, by brushing only the textured peaks and ridges or by pressing firmly with a brush or roller to paint the entire surface.

Stencils

7. Secure a stencil template to the surface for the texture paint by taping or using glue that is easy to remove.

8. Apply a light coat of texture using a brush or painting knife to the cut out areas of the template. Remove any excess texture. Let the surface dry and repeat if needed to build up.

9. Carefully remove the stencil from the design.

Wedding Hairstyles For Curly Hair

Curly hair can sometimes be trying, especially you are trying to create a formal style for a wedding. According to the stylists who contribute to 101 Hairstyles Magazine, you can use your curls to your advantage to create a gorgeous wedding look that will make you the center of attention. Three stylists offer their expertise on creating the perfect curled 'do.

Grecian Partial Updo

This is a looser, more casual look than a traditional updo, but don't let that deter you from turning your curls into a cascade of Grecian beauty. This style looks great with embroidered wedding gowns that have a lot of bead detail or flowing gowns with empire waists.

The key to this style, created by Jolene Phillips of Luca Bella Salon and Spa, is volume. Begin by pinning all of the hair on the crown of your head up to create volume on top. Leave a thick section of the front of your hair -- with bangs included -- out while pinning. Next, ask your stylist to create a ropy braid in your bangs that blends into the pinned-up curls in the back. The rest of your hair should be left down in soft waves that cascade down your back or over one shoulder. Incorporate a beautiful barrette into the pinned curls for a more finished look.

Add Extensions

If you have shorter curly hair, it can be difficult to create a formal-looking hairstyle for a wedding. A great way to add length and volume to your hair is by asking your stylist to apply extensions that match your hair type and color. The added volume will also make it easier to create updos.

Stylist Nicole Martin of Art of Hair created a hairstyle that works perfectly with extensions. Part your hair to the side, sweeping your bangs over your temple. Then pull your curly extensions up in the back of your head. Use thread instead of hair pins to create a softer, dent-free style that looks flowing and beautiful. This extremely durable technique also makes taking your hair down after the ceremony easier, without the kinks that pins leave. Frame your face by leaving a few soft curls tickling your cheeks.

Retro

Use your curls to your advantage by asking for a retro look to your style. Create an old Hollywood look with soft, face-framing curls that will compliment a crocheted, retro gown or sleek and classic dress.

Kathy Reed of Pon International created a wonderful 50s' inspired updo that is perfect for weddings. Begin by parting your hair on the side, leaving flowing curls down on one side of your face. Then knot your hair up in the back in either a thick braid or a French twist. For added 50s' flair, place large pearls into the knotted hair in the back, winding them all the way up to the top of your head. Pearls look great among the soft, natural-looking twist.

Fancy Hairstyles For Short Hair

Short hair can be tough to style, but with a bit of ingenuity it can be transformed into fancy and elaborate hairdos. Many of the fanciest short hairstyles are taken from trends from the 1920s, 1930s and 1950s, when short hair was popular among celebrities and others who followed their hairstyle trends. Moreover, creative accessorizing can easily take short hair from drab to fab.

Finger Waves

In the 1920s, women began cutting their hair short to mimic the styles of celebrities like Coco Chanel and Clara Bow. Most of the short hairstyles were simple and straight with blunt edges. Finger waves were created to soften this severe, masculine look and to make short hair appear fancier. The waves are molded in undulating S patterns on wet hair and left to dry.

Contemporary celebrities, like Kate Bosworth, style their short hair into finger waves for awards shows or movie premieres. This style can be difficult to achieve if you have no experience, so ask a professional hair stylist for help, especially if you want to style your hair in this manner for a formal event.

Large Curls

Thick, rolling curls were popular in the 1950s with celebrities like Marilyn Monroe, who always kept her hair short, but they continue to be popular today. Unlike finger waves, which lie flat against the head, large curls protrude and add volume to the hair. Large curls always look fancy, because it is clear that time and energy was put into achieving the look.

Hot rollers are commonly used to set hair into full curls. In the '50s and '60s, women did not have the luxury of hair dryers and often slept in their rollers overnight. You can set slightly damp hair---which should be at least 3 inches long---into rollers and hold a blow dryer over them to dry. Once dry, gently remove the rollers and use your fingers to shape the curls. Do not brush or comb them. Spritz with hairspray to hold.

Mini Ponytail

The key to making a mini ponytail look fancy is to add small details, like a side part, teasing at the crown for height, or wavy tendrils near the front to frame the face. Secure with a jeweled clip or insert colorful, sparkling bobby pins, and you have a fancy 'do in only a few short minutes.

For a truly fancy look, put on a rhinestone-encrusted headband or small tiara, especially if you are attending a formal dance or prom. Celebrities like Cameron Diaz and Sarah Jessica Parker have walked numerous red carpets sporting a mini ponytail and not once looked out of place among stars with longer hair professionally shaped into elaborate styles.

Hawaiian Silky Curl Directions

Keep the natural bounce and shine of your curls.

Hawaiian Silky Curl Reconstructor is designed for keeping curls and waves bouncy and full of body. This product may be used alone, or before Hawaiian Silky Curl Booster is used. Hawaiian Silky Curl Reconstructor works without the need for a blow dryer or a curling iron. It works by first straightening your hair's natural curls and waves, and then turning them into big, natural curls free of frizz and tangles.

Instructions

1. Wash hair with any shampoo. Massage scalp gently without scratching it. Rinse shampoo with lukewarm water. Towel dry hair.

2. Dip your fingers in the jar of Hawaiian Silky Curl Reconstructor and start applying to hair about 1/4 inch away from the scalp. Use your fingers to coat each strand with the product, beginning at the scalp and going down to the ends. Wait for about 10 to 15 minutes until hair straightens. Rinse off the product and gently dry with a towel.

3. Squeeze out a quarter-sized amount of the Hawaiian Silky Curl Booster, and apply to each strand of hair. Use more if necessary.

4. Wrap a 1/2-inch section of hair around a rod in a size of your choice. Use more Silky Booster if necessary, as long as each strand is coated. A quarter-sized amount should be enough for your entire head. Your entire head should be covered in rods. Cover hair with a plastic cap and wait about 10 minutes.

5. Rinse off the Silky Booster completely, with the rods still on. Dry each rod using a towel.

6. Apply Hawaiian Silky Neutralizing Solution to the hair on each rod, about a quarter-sized amount should be enough, but use more if necessary to cover each rod. Wait about 15 minutes. Remove the rods from hair. Rinse hair completely using tepid water.

7. Add a quarter-sized amount of Hawaiian Silky Moisturizer to hair to help hydrate your curls.

8. Dip your fingers into the jar of the Hawaiian Silky Gel Activator and massage into hair using a decent amount of the gel, larger than a quarter-sized amount. Style hair as usual. Avoid brushing or combing hair while styling. You may brush or comb hair once the gel dries, but the longer you refrain from brushing or combing, the better your style with hold up. Brushing or combing may damage the fresh curls.

Wear Headwraps & Headbands

Today everyone from celebrities to housewives are wearing headwraps and headbands as a fashion accessory. Headwraps are a great cover up for people who are dealing with hair loss. Hair bands are an inexpensive way to update your look without a visit to the hair salon. Both are great for bad hair days and add a touch of style and personality to any wardrobe. From rhinestones to skulls and crossbones, hair accessories come in many different styles and colors and are fashionable at any age.

Instructions

Wear Headwraps

1. Fold a scarf from end to end into a triangle. Place the folded edge against your hairline and tie the loose ends at the nape of your neck. Tuck the remaining ends under and you have the Gypsy look.

2. Fold a scarf from end to end into a triangle. Start folding or rolling the scarf from the folded edge down to the point. Place it on your head like a headband and tie the ends at the nape of your neck. Secure either side with bobby pins.

3. Fold a scarf from end to end into a triangle. Place the folded edge against your hairline and cross the ends over at the nape of your neck. Next bring the ends to the top of your head and tie in a knot. Tuck the remaining ends in and you have a turban.

4. Place a pre-made bandanna on your head and tie the ends together in place. It is the simple alternative to scarves.

Wear Headbands

5. Dress up an outfit with a skinny headband decorated with rhinestones, made out of satin, or adorned with a bow.

6. Push back hair with stretchy fabric headbands. They can be worn for style or used for holding hair in place while exercising or applying makeup. These headbands are super comfortable and easy to wash.

7. Put scarf headbands on the same way you would regular headbands. They are made from the same material as scarves and tie at the ends. You can also secure in place with bobby pins on either side.

8. Measure a ribbon around your head (leaving enough room to tie a bow) and cut. Place the ribbon on your head like a headband and tie. There are two options: wear the bow on top or to the side of your head for decoration, or rotate the ribbon and hide the bow underneath your hair. Either way you have a stylish headband.

Apply A Texturizer To A Natural Afro

Use a hair texturizer to loosen up tight coils.

A hair texturizer is a type of chemical relaxer that will essentially loosen the natural curl pattern of tightly coiled hair. Hair that has been treated with a hair texturizer will be more manageable and mold to different hair styles. To apply a texturizer to natural hair, you will have to make sure that you have the right supplies and products. Most of these items will be readily available at your local beauty supply store -- including your texturizer.

Instructions

1. Shampoo and condition hair to remove product buildup that can interfere with the chemical process. Blot the hair with a lint-free towel to remove excess moisture. Detangle your hair with a wide-toothed comb.

2. Separate the hair into three or four sections. This will allow you to apply the hair texturizer along the whole hair shaft, completely saturating the hair with the product.

Use an alligator hair clip to secure each section into place. Apply a light coating of petroleum jelly along the hair line and on the scalp between the sections. This will prevent the chemical from seeping into the scalp, which can result in chemical burns.

3. Starting from the back section, pick up 3/4-inch-wide sections of hair and apply the texturizer with the applicator brush. Continue moving from the back of the head, toward the front, making sure to saturate each section with the hair texturizer. You can allow the texturizer to sit on the hair for a few minutes or you can gently comb the texturizer through the hair strands for a straighter look.

4. Leave the texturizer on your hair for about 15 to 20 minutes. Do not pass 25 minutes -- this will potentially result in brittle hair strands. If your hair has already been chemically altered, keep the texturizer on the hair for a maximum of 10 minutes -- chemically processed hair tends to be more porous than virgin hair, allowing for the texturizer to straighten the hair faster.

5. Rinse out the texturizer with lukewarm water. Remove excess moisture by blotting the hair with a towel. Apply the neutralizer onto the hair, making sure to coat every hair strand. The neutralizer will halt the chemical process. Leave the neutralizer on for about 10 minutes.

6. Rinse the neutralizer out of the hair for about five minutes to completely remove any traces of the neutralizer and the texturizer. Apply a conditioner to replenish the lost moisture from the chemical process. Towel dry the hair and style it as usual.

Damaging Effects Of Curling Irons & Blow Dryers On Afro Hair

Hair relaxers and the fragile nature of black hair can make it especially vulnerable to heat from styling appliances like curling irons and blow dryers. Here are a few of the damaging effects that often surface if heating tools are overused.

Damaged Cuticle

The cuticle layer is the outer-most layer of the hair shaft. When it's left unprotected or exposed to excessive heat, the cuticle becomes irreversibly damaged and cannot be repaired.

Increased Porosity

Once the cuticle is damaged, the hair shaft becomes more porous. Increased porosity makes hair more prone to breakage and dryness.

Breakage

Breakage is common in all hair types, but when layers of black hair are damaged by excessive heat, hair loses elasticity and is much more likely to snap and break.

Dryness

Dryness occurs from increased porosity---the shaft loses moisture more easily, making hair dry and brittle.

Split Ends

When the cuticle is worn away at the end of a hair strand, the shaft's middle layer---called the cortex---begins to unravel and split. Split ends cannot be fixed and must be cut to prevent further splitting.

Prevention

Limit heat-tool usage and invest in tourmaline or ceramic-coated styling tools, since these appliances distribute heat more evenly than others.

Keep Oster Clippers Sharp

Hair clippers use a removable blade placed atop the clippers.

Oster hair clippers come in a variety of shapes and sizes, offering styling tools for any hair. Hair clippers use a motorized engine to power the blades in a horizontal cutting motion; however, the ability of the clippers to cut depends on their sharpness. Prolonging the sharpness of a blade requires that users regularly remove trapped hair, lubricate and sharpen the blades.

Instructions

1. Remove the Oster blade clippers by unscrewing the top screws. All Oster clippers contain two screws located on the top of the clippers that require a screw driver for removal.

2. Inspect the blade for any hair or rust. Remove any hair by using a cleaning brush to remove hair found in between the metal teeth. If rust is starting to appear, apply a bit of rubbing alcohol and scrub the rust away using coarse sandpaper.

3. Apply oil to the Oster blade. Using a sharpening stone, firmly rub the clippers against the stone in one direction. Rubbing in one direction maximizes the sharpness of the metal teeth.

4. Apply blade lubricant to reduce heat and friction. Blade lubricant will maximize the sharpness of your Oster blade; in addition blade lubricant prevents users from having to resharpen the blade as often. To apply lubricant spray, apply directly onto the blades using a cleaning cloth to remove any excess spray or gel.

5. Replace the Oster blade.

6. Turn on the Oster clippers allowing the motor to run for two to three minutes. This will ensure that clippers are well lubricated after applying the blade oil.

Write A Tongue Twister

Tongue twisters are a favorite activity among children. They challenge children to enunciate and think about their words as they speak and, of course, they're fun. Follow the steps below to write your own tongue twister with or for your kids.

Instructions

1. Understand alliteration. Alliteration is the repetition of consonant sounds at the beginning of words or stressed syllables in a phrase. It is the key ingredient of an effective tongue twister.

2. Read examples of tongue twisters (see Resources) to familiarize yourself with the format. Famous tongue twisters include "Sally sells seashells by the seashore," and "Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers."

3. Pick a consonant to use in your tongue twister. The easiest are b, d, l, m, p, s or t. Tongue twisters tell a story, which means they have a character. Write down a name for the character of your tongue twister that starts with the consonant you chose.

4. Determine the following, using the consonant you chose, about your tongue twister character: what the character did or does, where and when your character performs this task, and a number of reasons why.

5. Include at least one noun (your character), one verb, one adverb and several adjectives to make your tongue twister more interesting.

6. Put the information you came up with in Step 4 and the words you listed in Step 5 into a story and complete sentence format. Tongue twisters tell silly stories.

Buy A Designer Replica Wedding Dress

Designer wedding dresses are very expensive and hard to come by unless you have a connection to a designer. To find the designer dress of your dreams without paying the high price, consider your options with a replica dress and spend the extra money on other aspects of your wedding!

Instructions

1. Look through designer wedding magazines and bridal catalogs to find a dress that fits your style and shape. Narrow your list of dresses down to two or three that you consider your favorites.

2. Get your measurements. Stop by a bridal boutique or tailor shop and ask for measurement assistance. Be prepared for the dress size difference from standard women's clothes to wedding dresses. Dress sizes run small and you may be a size or two larger than your normal clothing size.

3. Try on dresses with similar characteristics to the designer dresses you selected. Though the details may be different, finding dresses with similar necklines, hem and train lengths, waist styles and overall shape will help you decide what type of dress looks best on you.

4. Select your favorite style and specific designer dress that best suits you.

5. Determine if you will have a dress made to look like a designer replica or if you plan to purchase a dress from a designer replica distributor. If you have the time and money for a custom-made dress, your dress will be specifically tailored for you. While the dress will not be as costly as a designer dress, you will likely pay higher prices than if you select one from a distributor. You can find distributors by conducting an online search or by contacting a bridal warehouse. There are duplicates of thousands of dresses from some of the biggest designer names.

6. Work with your tailor or distributor to have your dress ready in time to make alterations if needed. Depending upon the intricacy of your dress, you many have to allow several weeks or even months for alterations so prepare yourself for that time constraint.

Buy A Convertible Bra

Buy a Convertible Bra

The convertible bra offers women support and coverage in multiple styles all in one garment. Change from basic or strapless to halter, cross-back, racer-back and even backless with the switch of the detachable straps. Consider the following steps before you buy a convertible bra.

Instructions

1. Take the dress or top that you plan to wear with you when you go to the lingerie store, especially if it has challenging lines (halter dresses or cap sleeve tops, for example). Try on the bra with the clothing to see of it fits your outfit.

2. Swap out the straps to get a feel for how each style of the convertible bra works and how it fits your body and clothing needs. Pay attention to how much support each style provides. If only one style provides enough support, it isn't worth your money.

3. Think realistically. Convertible bras are most effective for women whose cup size is between an A and a D, although some C's could push that limit depending on the manufacturer. The best way to know if this style is for you is to try several sizes, since manufacturers' sizing can vary.

Build Plastic Fish Caves

Fish accessories are a way to liven up your fish's habitat, making it more interactive for the fish and more aesthetically pleasing in your home. Adding a cave to your fish's aquarium is key in providing shelter and camouflage, and also gives the tank visual interest. An easy way to make your own fish cave is by using plastic PVC piping, which is inexpensive and can be found at home-improvement stores. Using the PVC pipe along with materials already in your home can make for a great-looking fish cave.

Instructions

1. Cut the PVC pipe to the length desired for the cave. The circumference of the pipe can be whatever you wish, but it should be wide enough to give your fish adequate space to move through.

2. Cut the PVC pipe lengthwise. Don't cut the pipe in half; only about a quarter of the pipe should be removed. The result will be a C-shaped pipe half.

3. Cut the ends of the pipe on a diagonal, similar to the shape of a trapezoid. This will make the overhang less extreme, giving the fish easier access to the inside of the cave.

4. Sand the entire pipe. This includes sanding rough edges to protect your fish and the surface of the pipe to make gluing easier.

5. Glue rocks or sand all over the surface of the pipe. Use the same type of rock or sand as the bottom of the tank is decorated with for extra camouflage. You may need to glue multiple coats of rock or substrate to hide the entire pipe. Let the glue cure for at least an hour.

6. Soak the cave in a bowl of water for at least one day, then rinse.

7. Insert the cave into the fish tank, pushing the edges into the bottom rock or substrate to hold it in place.

Avoid Razor Bumps When You Shave Your Head

Razor bumps caused by shaving can be irritating and painful. Razor bumps and ingrown hairs, otherwise known as pseudofolliculitis barbae (PFB) are caused by curly hair that's cut and grows back into the skin or hair that's cut too short and grows into the skin. The resulting bumps can be very annoying, especially on a shaved head. Try a few techniques to prevent these annoying bumps and keep your head smooth.

Instructions

1. Shave after taking a shower, which helps moisten and loosen hair follicles, making them easier to shave.

2. Use a moisturizing shaving cream. Place the cream on your head and allow it to sit for at least two minutes before you begin shaving.

3. Only use a single-blade razor. Double, triple or quadruple blade razors encourage pulling of the hair follicles, which will cause them to fall backward into the scalp.

4. Shave your head in the direction of the hair growth, not against it.

5. Allow your skin to remain loose when it is being shaved. Never tug or pull on the skin. This will encourage your hair to grow into the skin.

6. Do not shave the same area more than two times.

7. Never use a dull blade. This will cause the hair to come off the scalp unevenly.

8. Place depilatory cream on your scalp to remove hair instead of shaving. These creams will melt the hair from your skin, and will not cause hair to be cut too short, which will lead to ingrown follicles.

Build A Permanent Foundation For A Mobile Home

Mobile homes have no foundations when purchased.

A mobile home is set on pier footings made of concrete. This means the home is elevated off the ground. Unless you install skirting, the underside of the home is exposed and open to animals and children. A permanent solution to this problem is to install a concrete cinder-block foundation. This is a DIY project for someone with masonry skills. It will take at least a week to complete.

Instructions

1. Lay 1 inch of gravel directly under the mobile home where you plan to install the foundation. Tamp the gravel down with a tamping tool and let it settle overnight.

2. Mix up mortar and water in a wheelbarrow, using the proper mixing ratio specified on your cinder-block mortar. Use a trowel to mix the mortar until it is the consistency of a milkshake.

3. Trowel about 1 inch of mortar onto the gravel directly under the home in one corner. Place a cinder block into the mortar so the solid, flat side is facing toward you. Check to ensure the block is level, using a carpenter's level.

4. Spread mortar on the gravel next to the cinder block and apply some mortar to the side of the first block. Place the next block beside it about 1/2 inch away. Trowel additional mortar between the blocks if needed. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 until the entire first row of the foundation is complete.

5. Trowel 1/2 inch of mortar on top of the first cinder block and over half of the second block in the first row. Lay one half cinder block on top of the first block, flush with the end of the wall. Spread mortar on the side of this new block, then place the next block right beside it. Continue to apply mortar and cinder blocks to build the foundation up to your mobile home frame.

Cute Layered Shoulder Length Hair Cuts For Teens

Know what will suit her lifestyle before she cuts her hair off.

When it's time for your teen to shed her long little girl locks and opt for a more grown-up hair style, you'll have no problem finding a cute and modern cut. Keep in mind her activities, personality and lifestyle; a teen who's active in sports may want to keep her hair long enough for a ponytail during practice, while a shy girl may not have the confidence for a very short haircut. Choose a cut that reflects her character and flatters her face shape.

Razored Bob

Ask your stylist to use a razor to create an angular, textured effect on the bob.

She may like the edgy, youthful take on the classic shoulder length bob. This haircut is done with a razor and includes layering to frame the face. Far from the conservative bob that turns under at the ends, this style was popularized by actresses such as Jennifer Aniston, and boasts plenty of texture and body. Ask the stylist to angle the length forward toward the jaw for swingy movement in the cut unless your teen wants to wear a ponytail.

Shag

She'll find this low-maintenance layered look versatile for styling. Characterized by fuller layers on top, the modern shag is a tousled style that frees curls and waves from being weighed down. Your teen will be happy that she can still clip her hair up off her neck thanks to the length or even pull it up into a roughed-up french twist. With plenty of layers to play with, she'll enjoy using jeweled hairpins or clips to change up her style. To maintain the tousled look, she'll need mousse for volume and light control instead of hairspray.

Undercut

Ask your stylist about mousse or styling cream to maintain the undercut coiffure.

If your teen's hair is straight, she may like an undercut. Your stylist will slice in shorter layers underneath in the back to add swing and movement to a sleek, smooth haircut. She'll love the playful flair the undercut adds to an otherwise simple, shiny blunt cut. This strategic layering also increases the body and volume, making hair appear thicker. Use mousse or styling cream to keep this sleek, modern style at its best.

Sideswept Bangs

Start with sideswept bangs if your teen is timid about adding layers.

Refine her blunt cut style with some layered sideswept bangs to flatter any face shape. Sideswept bangs add interest and volume to the haircut and draw attention to your teen's beautiful eyes. If she's anxious about going layered all over, start with the sideswept bang to see how she likes it; the addition of those face framing layers make her hairstyle more elegant and eye-catching.

Instructions To Making Mohawk Ponytails

A Mohawk can be a fun look for Halloween, concerts or special events. However, if you only want a to wear a Mohawk for a special event, you most likely do not want to cut your hair into a full Mohawk style. There are ways to style your hair into a Mohawk without actually cutting your hair using ponytails. All you need is a few ponytail holders, a teasing comb, and styling products to achieve this look. And the best part is with a no-cut mohawk you can go back to your original look in no time.

Preparation

The key to the ponytail Mohawk is giving it enough volume and texture that it stands up. This can partly be done through teasing and the use of hair products; however, it also relies a lot on the cleanliness of your hair. Hair holds better in a style when it has the natural oils of the hair to work with. If your hair is too clean, it is too soft and will not hold a style as well. So, when planning the debut of your ponytail Mohawk, wash your hair the day before and not the day that you are actually planning on wearing the style. This will help the Mohawk to hold better. Also, run mousse through your hair when you shower, which will also help the hair hold the style better the next day.

Ponytails

To make the ponytails for the Mohawk, divide your hair into three or four ponytails, beginning at the hairline. Separate the front of your hair into a 2 to 3-inch section that runs over the top and to the back of your head. You will want to keep this hair separate from the rest of your hair, so gather the hair on each side of your head into ponytails or buns so that it doesn't get mixed in.

Next, begin teasing the middle section of hair. Hold the hair straight up, and run a teasing comb downward, teasing the hair several inches upward. Tease thin sections of hair to get as much stiffness as possible. Do this to all of the hair in the middle section, from the front to the back of your head. Gather hair into a ponytail on top of you head that stops at your scalp, or about 2 inches back from your forehead. Repeat by making another, similar sized ponytail beneath that one that starts just behind the center of your head, and another just below the crown of your head.

Finishing

The hair products you apply to your ponytails will give the Mohawk its lasting hold. Use an extra-strength hair gel to stand the hair in the ponytails straight up, such as Got2Be Glued, or another similar product. Run the gel from the base to the tips of the ponytail and allow to dry. For extra hold, hold your hair upside down and use a blow dryer to apply low heat. Finish with an extra-hold hair spray.

Do Easy Homecoming Hairstyles

Homecoming is a very important occasion for high school students. If you are going to your school's homecoming dance, you're probably planning what to wear, what type of transportation you'll use, who to go with and do your hair. Of course, you could always consult a stylist and pay someone to do your hair the day of the dance, but you can also learn to do it yourself at home. Homecoming dances are usually formal, so you'll need to learn to do formal hairstyles that work with your hair length, cut and color.

Instructions

Short Hairstyle

1. Wash your hair and dry it completely. Tease the back of your hair from the crown to the nape of your neck.

2. Dip your fingers into some hair wax and work it into the back of your hair. Separate the hair into spiky chunks with your fingers.

3. Use a fine-tooth comb to pull a section of your bangs (about an inch back) over to one side. Secure it with a hair pin. Use a hairpin that matches or complements your attire.

Long Hairstyle

4. Place your hair in large curlers a few hours before you are leaving. Section your hair into one-inch wide layers about 1/8 inch thick, apply volumizing gel, and roll them so that they lay vertically (to make spirals) on your head.

5. Spray your hair with a setting spray and allow the curlers to sit in your hair for at least 45 minutes to an hour.

6. Remove the curlers gently and use your fingers to separate and style them. Do not use a brush or comb, because your hair may frizz.

Young Men's Hairstyle

7. Apply hair gel to your hair by rubbing it in with your hands. Apply it lightly, and use about a quarter-sized amount to start. Increase the amount if needed to cover your hair. Do not use so much that your hair looks greasy or wet.

8. Comb the sides and back of your hair down smoothly. If your hair is longer, sweep the ends to the back of your head by combing down and back.

9. Make the top part about two inches to either side. Sweep your hair out away from the part, and then back as the comb reaches the tips of your hair. Finish the style with a light misting of finishing spray.

Hide The Bobby Pins In An Updo

Updos can be worn casual or elegant. You can see the hairstyle being worn by brides, prom queens, secretaries and classroom teachers. In order to achieve the look of an updo, you need a tool to hold all of that hair in place. One such tool is the classic bobby pin. When placing bobby pins in your hair, they can easily be seen. However, there are some tips that you can use to hide them which will result in a flawless updo that is admired by others.

Instructions

1. Use bobby pins that are closest to your hair color. If you have black hair, use black bobby pins. If you have brown hair, use the brown ones.

2. Place the bobby pins vertically instead of horizontally. By placing the pins vertically, you can discreetly tuck them down in the bun or updo. When placing the bobby pins vertically, the tips of the pins are likely to be seen.

3. Use a fancy hair embellishment, such as crystal barrettes or flowers, to cover up the bobby pin. To do this, simply place your bobby pin in your hair. Clip the embellishment to hair that is located directly above the bobby pin.

4. Leave loose hair at the top of your updo or bun. After placing the bobby pins in your hair, you can manipulate the loose hair so that it "Falls" over the bobby pins." If you are going to do a Fall, you might want to curl it to give it some style so it will look as elegant as the rest of your updo. Otherwise, it might appear that your hair is just going wild.

Get Hair Healthy After Lots Of Chemical Damage

Everyone desires healthy, luxurious hair. Unfortunately, all of the chemical relaxing, coloring, and perming services our hair often endures in the name of beauty can cause irreparable chemical damage over time. This repetitive damage can easily begin to take a toll on our hair's health and appearance. Once hair has been damaged, it cannot be physically repaired. Temporary cosmetic fixes can, however, be used to improve the look and appearance of hair. Protein treatments can help temporarily seal damaged and broken areas of a hair shaft.

Instructions

Repair Chemically Damaged Hair

1. Gently cleanse your scalp and hair with a thick, creamy moisturizing shampoo to remove any dirt and debris. Lather your hair, rinse thoroughly, and repeat.

2. Apply a protein reconstructor product to the hair, focusing on the ends of the hair. Leave the product on your hair for 10-15 minutes and rinse. Protein reconstructors contain proteins that bind to the hair shaft and temporarily help seal and repair damage that has occurred along the length of the cuticle.

3. Apply a moisturizing conditioner product to soften and nourish the hair after reconstructing with protein. Again, especially apply the conditioner to the ends of your hair.

4. Cover your conditioner-soaked hair with a plastic shower cap to prepare for intense deep conditioning.

5. Sit under a warm hair dryer for 20-30 minutes. The heat will help facilitate maximum penetration of your conditioning product.

6. Remove the shower cap and allow your hair to cool. Thoroughly rinse the conditioner product from your hair.

7. Apply a leave-in conditioner product to your hair and disentangle your hair gently.

8. Allow your hair to air dry to prevent further damage from heat appliances. Style your hair as desired.

9. Repeat steps 1-8 for approximately 2 weeks. At the third and fourth weeks, skip step 2 (the protein reconstructor conditioner).

Care For Men'S Relaxed Hair

Men can easily take care of relaxed hair.

Men with relaxed hair can easily manage and style their locks with a few common haircare products. Simply utilize some basic styling tips to make your relaxed hair look great. Before you know it, you'll be able to avoid tangles, knots and other annoyances synonymous with relaxed hair. Once you know how often to wash your hair, which styling aids to use and which treatments to avoid, you'll have no problem caring for your relaxed hair.

Instructions

1. Wash your hair with a relaxing shampoo. To ensure that your hair stays relaxed and moisturized, limit your washings to one or two a week. On days when you forgo shampooing, give your hair a thorough water rinsing.

2. Condition your hair every time you shower. This will provide your hair with a substantial amount of moisture. In addition, take care to deep condition your hair no less than twice a month.

3. Keep hair breakage to a minimum. Before going to sleep, wrap a scarf around your hair. By extension, ditch your cotton pillowcase for a nice, soothing satin one.

4. Provide your hair with plenty of protein. Since hair relaxers change your hair's texture thereby reducing its protein content, make sure to eat lots of veggies, fish, eggs, chicken and soybeans.

5. Apply hair moisturizer daily. This will ensure that you hair is easy to comb and style throughout the day.

Bead Hair Jewelry

Bead Hair Jewelry

Any decorative item that is placed in your hair can be called "hair jewelry." Hair jewelry is usually both ornamental as well as useful. Barrettes set with gemstones or beaded pins would be considered hair jewelry. Create your own beaded pins and coordinate them with your outfits or moods. With each pin taking less than 30 minutes to make, you can craft enough to go with every outfit you own.

Instructions

Initial Beading

1. Cut 3 feet of wire. It may be a little more than you need, but it is better to start out with too much and trim it at the end than to not have enough to finish the project.

2. Pull the wire through the closed end of a bobby pin, making both ends of the wire even.

3. Wrap the wire around the end of the bobby pin once to secure it.

4. Pick your first bead and cross the two wires through the hole from opposite sides. Make sure that the bead is on the top side of the bobby pin.

5. Cross the wires under the bead, through the middle of the pin, and pull tightly. Do not go around the entire pin or it will not open. Only cross over the top half of the wire.

6. Cross the wires over the top of the pin, then back underneath through the middle. This is just like what you did in the previous step, only this time you do not have a bead on the wire. This provides some spacing between the beads.

7. Select another bead and cross both wires through it, securing the bead by going back under the top half of the pin and crossing them again.

8. Continue these steps until you get to the end of the bobby pin. If you wish to end here, you can finish the pin by wrapping the wire several times at the end and trimming the ends. Tuck the cut ends into a bead so they will not show.

Adding Detail

9. Skip cutting the wires at the end of Step 8 if you wish to add detail decoration. Instead, take one of the longer wires and pull it through the last bead on the bobby pin.

10. Add three to five seed beads to the wire, depending on what look you prefer. Try both and see which appeals more to you.

11. Skip a bead and pull the wire through the third bead from the end.

12. Add the same number of seed beads on this side that you did on the first side.

13. Alternating beads, continue up the bobby pin until you get to the end at which you originally started the beading process.

14. Wrap the wire around the bobby pin and cut close to the last bead.

15. Tuck the end of the wire into the final bead to hide it from view.

Home Remedies For Growing Black Women Hair

Grow black hair longer and stronger with proper living.

Many common misconceptions exist about African-American hair, that it is difficult to keep healthy and cannot grow past the shoulder blades. All of these myths are untrue: Black hair can grow to one's desired length, but since the hair texture is usually very fine and curly, even well-moisturized hair can more easily break off at the ends. However, there are different things that you can improve in your daily regimen that will help your hair grow faster and stronger to avoid breakage.

Daily Moisturizer

One of the simplest ways to keep your hair growing is to keep it well-moisturized. Always use a leave-in conditioner daily; this will prevent hair breakage along with making your tresses supple. If the weather is dry or if it is humid in your area, spraying your hair with water is something you should do throughout the day to keep your hair from drying out.

Healthy Lifestyle

One of the best remedies for growing black hair is by maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Drink plenty of water on a daily basis to stay hydrated, and you will start to see an improvement in your hair's texture and growth. Also stay healthy by eating a balanced diet to give your hair the proper nutrients it needs, and exercise to maintain a healthy body. Try to get a good night's sleep too to keep yourself healthy. Stress and depression are known to put strain on an individual's health, so avoid situations that may bring on any mental frustrations.

Biotin Vitamins

Biotin pills are vitamins that can be purchased at your local grocery or drug store. Biotin is great for growing healthier hair and nails fast; in fact, many start noticing accelerated hair growth in about one month. Each bottle of biotin has its own specific directions as to how many pills need to be taken daily. Keep in mind that biotin will affect everyone differently, and if you notice any negative changes to your body, health or hair then discontinue using them.

Make Your Own Wig Stand

Keep your wig looking flawless with a wig stand.

A wig stand is necessary for all wig wearers. A wig without a wig stand is going to get tangled and worn out. If you do not properly take car of your wig, you will end up spending more time trying to fix it than wearing it. You may also have to toss out more wigs because of their less than ideal condition. Save your time and money by building your own wig stand.

Instructions

1. Clean out your 2-liter bottle with water. Allow the bottle to dry completely.

2. Insert the funnel into the bottle and pour in the sand. You will want the sand to fill the bottle at least halfway. Place the cap back onto the bottle when you are done.

3. Center your wig onto the Styrofoam wig head and slide onto the top of the bottle. The hole at the bottom of the Styrofoam wig head should fit on the bottle.

4. Comb out the wig so that no strands are out of place.

5. Place your wig stand in a cool location with little or no humidity.

Create A Bun For Ballet With Thin Hair

Wash the hair the day before, instead of the day of, as clean hair is finer and more difficult to work with.

Tight buns are often required in classical ballet because they keep the hair out of the face and look clean on stage. Thin hair can be difficult to work with since it is so fine and often comes loose. With enough hair products and bobby pins, however, you can create a secure bun that will last throughout an entire dance recital.

Instructions

1. Brush through the hair to remove any knots and tangles.

2. Wet your hands and dampen the hair.

3. Squeeze a nickel-sized amount of hair gel into your hands and work it through the top of the hair all the way to the ends.

4. Brush the hair straight back and onto the top of the head.

5. Tie the ponytail up with a thick elastic hair band. The band should match the color of the hair. Wrap it as many times as possible to get it tight.

6. Apply hair gel to the ponytail and twist it into a tight coil.

7. Wrap the coil around the ponytail and secure it to the head as you go. To do this, insert a bobby pin through the outside of the bun and into the base. Use as many bobby pins as necessary to keep the bun in place.

8. Wrap the bun in a fine hair net and secure it with bobby pins. This will prevent the bun from uncoiling.

9. Spray the bun with hairspray.

Wear Head Bands

Wear Head Bands

A headband is a cute and simple way to add to a polished look. With so many headbands on the market, it's easy to wear them at any age, no matter what your budget is. Remember to keep your venue in mind when choosing the right headband.

Instructions

Wear Head Bands

1. No matter how demure a head band is, you have to start with smooth hair that is easy to manage. Frizzy, unkempt hair doesn't work with a headband. This doesn't mean you have to have straight hair, just be sure it is sleek and shiny. Use a styling cream to get rid of any flyaways. Distribute about a dime-size worth of product throughout your hair. Using a comb, or your fingers, smooth hair out for a clean and fabulous look.

2. Choosing the right head band for the occasion is key. Neutral colors like black and brown work well for the office, as well as tortoise prints. For the weekend, you can choose a fun print or bold colors such as canary yellow or magenta, which adds a serious punch of style to even a simple outfit. Evening calls for drama, so experiment with texture, colors and shine.

3. Wear a head band to the office. When wearing a head band to work, remember to keep things simple and chic. You could wear a tortoise or leopard print headband with your standard suit or sheath dress. This adds a dash of personal style, but stays well within an office dress code. If you are truly having a bad hair day, save yourself with a headband and hair elastic. Pull hair back into a low ponytail or low, tight bun and create a polished look in a minute.

4. Wearing a head band on the weekend is a fun and inexpensive way to play with your look. Opt for a headband in fashion-forward colors to add a whimsical touch to your weekend wardrobe. A simple tank and skinny jeans are elevated with the help of a funky headband. If your hair is curly or wavy, run a smoothing cream through it and then let your curls shine or pile hair up into a high ponytail. Straight hair looks great worn down with a headband, or braided.

5. Wear a head band in the evening. Need a new way to amp up your favorite little black dress? Try a headband. Headbands for evening should have some texture, so look for those adorned with feathers, flowers, or sparkle. Try parting your hair on the side and then putting on your headband for a look that is sexy and playful. Smoky eye makeup, a little black dress, and sassy heels are all you'll need to make a headband work for evening.

Attach The Ribbons To The Maypole

Decorate your maypole with flowers and ribbons.

Maypoles consist of a long pole with a crown at the top to which ribbons or straps are securely affixed. Maypole dancing is a joyous event which traditionally takes place in May to mark the beginning of spring. Participants hold ribbons which are connected to a crown on top of a long pole. Dancers hold the ribbons while dancing around the pole. The dance usually takes place in Western European countries such as Germany, England and Sweden.

Instructions

1. Purchase enough webbing weave so that each ribbon is one and a half times the height of the pole. Use 1-inch wide webbing weave for short poles and 1½ inch wide webbing weave for long poles. Avoid using silk ribbon as it is too soft and will tangle. Instead, use the webbing weave that straps are commonly made from.

2. Make a loop handle for each dancer. On the bottom, make the loop big enough for participants to use as a handle when they are dancing. Coat the end of the strap with clear adhesive to prevent the webbing weave from fraying. Sew the handle securely to the strap with your sewing machine.

3. Coat the tip of the other end with adhesive. Thread the end through the leash clip's swivel end, make a loop and sew it securely. Once all your ribbons have been completed, clip the leash clips through the hoes in the crown on the top of the maypole.

What Practice Haircuts On

Be honest with your amount of experience before you attempt to cut another person's hair.

There are a number of inexpensive items that you can practice cutting hair on before you attempt to cut hair for family and friends. It's likely that you have items laying around your house that have the potential to be used. Look through old toys and costumes for items that may be of use to you. The more that you practice, the more experience you gain. Try to avoid cutting your own hair until you're confident with your skills and experience.

Mannequin

Purchase a mannequin or a mannequin head with hair. Part the hair as you would with human hair. Practice longer layered cuts before you go for shorter hairstyles so that you can try a variety of cuts before you cut the hair too short. Purchase mannequin heads from stores that specialize in costumes and props. You can also find mannequin heads online from a variety of retailers.

Wigs

Place wigs on mannequins and cut the wig hair. You can purchase a variety of wigs for low prices from costume shops and retail stores. More expensive wigs are likely to have a better quality of hair that's fuller and more realistic. Look online for deals if you have a tough time finding wigs in your area.

Dolls

Practice cutting hair on dolls. Dolls of all sizes will do for this exercise. Look through old toys that you may have for potential dolls to use before you purchase any. Retail stores are an ideal place to look for dolls, as there's sure to be a large selection at different price points. Choose a variety of dolls so that you can practice with different textures, styles and lengths of hair.

People

Practice your haircutting skills on people. Inform your friends or family members about your level of experience before you decide to practice on them. Make sure to ask people who are likely to be OK with a haircut that may or may not go as planned. Take into account the wishes of the people on whom you're practicing during the haircutting process. Try not to veer from your plans during the haircut without permission.

Do [Curly] Kinky Twists

Use either sponge curlers or rod curlers.

Curly kinky twists are touted as being a "protective style" by many women who are transitioning from chemical relaxers to a natural look. Kinky twists involve braiding kinky extensions into your hair and twisting. The twists are set in curls, producing an alluring look with a head full of bouncy curls. While you may be able to put the extensions in the front, top and sides, you will need someone to do the back of your head for you. This is a time-consuming hairstyle, but the results are worth the effort.

Instructions

1. Section the hair into four sections and secure three of the sections with large hair clips.

2. Use a rattail comb to map out a section of hair 1-inch long by 1/2-inch wide. Clip this section off to one side. Secure the rest of the hair against the scalp with a large clip. Take the clip off the small section you will work with first.

3. Apply a small amount of lock-and-hold hair gel down the length of the section of hair. Use a dab about the size of a pea.

4. Place the middle of one kinky extension against the scalp above the section of hair and clip it in place. The real hair is in the middle with the extension hanging down on each side.

5. Begin braiding the section by crossing the right extension over the middle hair, which makes the right extension the middle strand. Cross the left extension over the middle strand, making it the middle strand. Bring the right strand over the middle strand; bring the left strand over the middle strand.

6. Dissect the middle section of hair into two sections, grouping them with the other two sections on either side. You now have two sections of hair instead of three.

7. Twist the two sections of hair together, twisting them tightly all the way down to the bottom. The lock-and-hold gel will keep them together.

8. Place a foam or rod curler at the end of the section of hair and roll it halfway up to the scalp. Secure it in place with the band that is attached.

9. Bring a cup of water to a boil on a stove in a small saucepan. Pour the boiling water into a cup. Place the curler into the cup of hot water and hold it there for two minutes. Remove the curler and squeeze it dry with a towel.

10. Repeat the steps for all the sections of hair and wait 10 minutes. Remove the curlers. Do not brush or pick out the curls but allow each curl to hang individually.

Beaded Hairstyles

Beaded hairstyles are intricate and time-consuming. They are also beautiful and eye-catching. If you can braid, you can do a beaded hairstyle. There are many different types of braids, and just as many types of beads to choose from. As a result, there is an endless number of ways to create these styles. You can easily find one that will work for you.

Types of Braids

Just about any braid will work for beaded hairstyles. The simplest is individual braids. Part off sections of the hair and braid them individually. French braids are a bit more complicated; for a basic one, comb hair straight back and braid it from crown to nape, picking up hair as you go. You can also part the hair in the middle and French braid the hair on either side. Cornrows are very small French braids. To do these, part the hair into small rows of maybe an inch or so, then French braid them. Cornrows and French braids can be braided into various directions and shapes. Try a spiral French braid or cornows for a twist on a classic look. Or simply braid the cornrows from ear to ear instead of from crown to nape.

Types of Beads

Beads come in all shapes, sizes and colors. There are glass beads, wood beads, clay beads and plastic beads. You can also make these beads by hand. Try making paper or cloth beads for a unique look. You can find kits to make your own glass or wood beads, or you can buy them and decorate them yourself for a special look as well. Remember that sizing is important; thick braids can fit through large holes. On the other hand, try not to make your beads too big, or they will be uncomfortable to sleep on. Clay beads may be more fragile than plastic or wood beads. This is something to keep in mind as you decide on what to choose for your hairstyles.

Putting It All Together

Combining braids with beads is an art form, with you as the ultimate artist. The easiest beaded hairstyle is with individual braids. Simply part off inch-wide sections of hair and braid them as you would a regular braided pigtail. Add beads to the end and fasten them with an elastic or small pieces of foil, and the hairstyle is done. According to hubpages.com, you can also do this style with synthetic hair, which makes taking it down much easier. This is a good style for little girls, because it's stylish and long-lasting. According to the Learning Center at cornrows.co.uk, for a fancier style, divide the hair in half from ear to ear. Braid the hair from the hairline to the crown in cornrows, switching to individual braids, and then do the same from nape to crown. Add beads to each indvidual braid and gather them into a ponytail. This style, without the beads and ponytail, is called the Tiara.

Assemble The Conair Hc241w

The Conair HC241W is a model of beard, mustache and hair trimmer that is part of the HC240 line of products. This line of grooming products allows you to assemble the trimmer for multiple purposes, including trimming facial hair or as part of a hair cut. By using interchangeable blades that you can detach and reattach, this product allows you to do many things.

Instructions

1. Unplug the Conair trimmer from the wall outlet before beginning to disassemble or reassemble it. If this tool is plugged in, you run the risk of electrical shock by removing components.

2. Use a cloth or a towel to clean off any parts before removing them. Leaving hair or other foreign items inside of an attachment can cause the attachment to degrade over time, so keep everything as clean as possible.

3. Remove the current attachment if there is one installed on the trimmer. To do this, place your thumb below the tab at the back end of the attachment and your index finger on the top part of the attachment. Gently pull up, and the attachment will detach from the clipper. Push forward to slide the attachment off and place it in the storage case. The trimmer blade will now be exposed, so be careful not to touch it -- it is sharp.

4. Pick up the new attachment you want to add to the trimmer. To assemble the trimmer for use, slide the new attachment straight over the exposed blade and press forward until it clicks into place, indicating it is secure. Grab the attachment with your fingers and attempt to wiggle it side to side. If there is no movement, the trimmer has been assembled successfully and is ready to use.

Hairstyles For A Luau

Choosing the right hairstyle for a luau may be harder than you think. Sure, you have the option to wear your hair the same way you normally do, but there's no fun in that. You want to go with the theme of the party. Some factors to consider when choosing your hairstyle and hair accessories are where the luau will take place (indoor or outdoors), the formality of the event (casual or formal), the time of the event (morning, noon or evening) and the activities at the luau (limbo contest, water fights and others).

Wet and Wavy Hairstyle

Wet hair

If you want to go with the beach-style theme, a casual wet hair look is hairstyle you may consider, especially if you plan to get in the water at the luau. The wet look is just that, wet. You simply wash your hair without blowing it dry. Add some moose, shower hair gel or hair conditioner after washing your hair for the wavy look. Now, everyone may not have the type of hair that refrains from fizzing up after air-drying. Hair stores and boutiques sell wet and wavy hair extensions you may have sewn in, giving you the wet and wavy look you desire for the luau. The idea of this hairstyle is to symbolize the waves on the beach, sea or ocean.

Up-Dos

Up-dos

The classic ponytail or French twists are good hairstyles to wear to a luau celebration, especially since the event typically takes place in hot months. The plus with the classic ponytail hairstyle is the simplicity. Simply pull your hair toward back or top of your head (whichever look you're going for) with any type of hair tie. You have the option to use hair ties that match your outfit, or simply take a strand of your hair and wrap it around the tie to hide the hair accessory all together. The French twist is a ponytail with a twist. Simply place your hair into a neat ponytail, and twist your hair around several times, and tuck the end of the ponytail underneath the twist. Leave some strands out if you are going for the messy look.

Straight Hair

Flowers in hair

Wearing your hair straight is a classic look to wear at a luau. Simply flat iron or blow your hair straight. Add a part down the middle of your hair, push all your hair to one side or pull half of your hair up into a ball and leave the back hanging down. To make this hairstyle more beach-like, accessorize. Use bobby hair pins to pin some beach flowers (real or plastic) in your hair that match your outfit or the color theme of luau. Another option is brush all your hair back, and place a tropical headband (some party stores have headbands made of tropical beads or leis) over your hair.

Signs Of A Jealous Friend

A jealous person is not somebody you would want as a friend.

Jealousy can destroy good long-term friendships and is not always obvious as it can be expressed in different ways. Most people have experienced the jealousy of others in their lives, particularly as children and teenagers although, there are those who practice jealous reactionary behavior as adults, spoiling friendships and poisoning others with willful, untrue statements. There are certain signs which will indicate to you that a friend is jealous.

Good News Response

Success is a wonderful experience, whether it is getting into that university you applied for or finding a new partner after being single for some time, and it is natural to want to share your success with your friends. A well adjusted adult should be happy for your success and respond accordingly with joy, but an unexpected response from a close friend usually means there is jealousy in the air. Jealous friends typically respond awkwardly to your good news, fob it off as ordinary and change the subject. A negative good news response is a sure sign of jealousy.

Avoidance

You may notice that some friends seem to avoid you when you are doing well. This is a classic jealous response when the other person feels bad about his own life and ignores or avoids successful people as a counteractive measure. If you notice a friend avoiding you when you get a new boyfriend or make a new best friend, this is usually a sign of jealousy resentment. Instead of being happy for you and sticking around to enjoy your new friendship, your friend avoids eye contact and makes excuses that he is too busy to get together.

Insincerity

Insincerity is a reactionary response that jealous people are often guilty of. They may dishonestly invent a make believe success of their own to make yours look less impressive or tell others untruths about you. Insincere behavior is not healthy, especially when it stems from jealousy and can destroy friendships. It is best to ignore this behavior, showing your friend that you disapprove of her insincerity.

Sabotage

Friends that sabotage another person's life are indeed suffering from psychological jealousy at a deeper level. Favoritism from a parent, teacher or another friend can lead to a jealous sabotage of your reputation by making a fool out of you in public or by deliberately doing or saying something malicious. Deliberately defacing another person's property is serious negative behavior that should not be overlooked.

Competitive Behavior

Although imitation can be a form of flattery, it is also a known jealousy response when a person is not happy with their own predicament. If your friend is always trying to upstage you by getting a better car, a flashier phone and over dressing make you look ordinary, this is a sign of jealousy. Jealous competitive behavior is a negative response designed to make you look less attractive to others and any friend that uses these tactics around you is not a true friend.

Set Your Hair Without Rollers

There are many methods of setting your hair, and many cons that come with those methods. For instance, setting your hair with a curling iron is a quick way to get your hair curled, but this method can damage your hair. Another method you can use to set your hair is to "perm" it (which is short for permanent, and which means you're stuck with that hairstyle for many months whether you like it or not). Heated rollers are yet another way to set your hair, but this method can damage your tendrils too. There’s always plain old rollers, but they look more hideous on your head than off. So what’s left? The steps below will tell you set your hair in a way that looks good enough to wear to a wedding before you even brush it out.

Instructions

1. Wash your hair and let it dry.

2. Bend forward from the waist and throw your hair forward, combing it and gathering all of it together to make a ponytail on top of your head.

3. Secure your hair in a ponytail with the scrunchie.

4. Take the amount of hair you would wind around a roller (if you were using rollers to set your hair), and wind it around your two index fingers, which should be positioned about ½ inch away from each other horizontally, until you have no more of the strand of hair left to wind. You should have a rolled section of hair at this point.

5. Secure the roll of hair in place with two of the long bobby pins, sliding one bobby pin into the bottom of the roll from the front to the back, and the other bobby pin from the back of the roll to the front.

6. Take another section of hair and repeat Steps 4 and 5, placing the second roll of hair next the first one.

7. Continue to set your hair in this manner until all sections of hair are rolled and secured neatly in place around the scrungy.

8. Brush your hair out after five hours or more.

Shag Hairstyle Cutting Directions

A shag haircut can look wild and fun when cut and styled right.

Cutting your hair into a shag haircut is easy. All you need are some scissors, a feathering blade, a ponytail holder and the courage to wear the look.

Position

To begin the shag haircut, you must position the head properly. Flip the head upside-down with the hair hanging toward the ground.

Preparation

While the head is upside down, gather the hair into a ponytail. The ponytail should be about four or five inches from the scalp.

Cutting

Cut the ponytail off, still keeping the scissors four to five inches from the scalp. Remove the rubber band and shake the hair out.

Result

You or your subject should have a shaggy, stylish cut as a result. You can even the hair out on both sides if you want the look to be more symmetrical. Cut off any additional hair that you want to remove. For an even shaggier look, use a blade to feather the hair.

Styling

To style a shag look, apply mousse to the tips of the hair and comb through it until the hair gains volume and energy. Use root-lifting gel to keep the style from drooping too much.
