Men's hairstyles come in several different styles, lengths and types. As many men possess naturally wavy hair, several styles have evolved for this hair type, no matter the length.

Layered Hair

One of the most common ways for stylists to trim up and style men's hair-while getting rid of split ends and damaged hair-involves layering men's hair. Layering involves cutting the hair in slightly different lengths in several sections, which allows it to maintain a textured style. Layered styles usually feature medium to long lengths and can be worn naturally-usually parted in the middle or on the side-as well as with gels and pomades.

Tapered Hair

Very similar to layered hair is tapered-style hair. This style provides a classy, stylish and conservative look. This style normally calls for longer hair on the top with the sides and back cut short and tapered. The top hair can take several forms-gelled or left natural, depending upon the person's preference.

Short Gelled Hair

Many men with very short wavy hair have several options at hand; one of the most common is to gel short hair. This short gelled look works for hair ranging from 1/2 inch long to a couple of inches long. Although usually reserved for the below-35 crowd, the gelled look allows for quick and easy styling, only taking a couple of minutes. The hair is usually left scattered in a messy fashion, or combed forward with the fingers.

Longer Frontal Hair

Though hair loss can prove difficult to hide once it reaches a certain threshold, the beginning stages can often be hidden quite well. One of the most common methods involves maintaining medium-length hair but having the stylist or barber cut the front slightly longer than the rest. Maintaining longer frontal hair allows the added length and fullness of wavy hair to create the illusion of more hair, lessening the attention brought to your receding or thinning hair.
