Use Hair Permanent Plastic Capes

Use Hair Permanent Plastic Capes

When you give yourself a permanent at home, it is wise to protect your clothing as well as your skin. The chemicals contained in the hair permanent solution are strong and will seep through and damage most types of fabric.

Instructions

1. Purchase a cape for use when you do home hair permanents. The best place to find a cape for doing hair is at a beauty supply store. A cape that is made out of plastic is best so that the hair permanent solution won't soak through the material. Look for one that is made from a thin plastic that is flexible so that it will be easy to manage.

2. Choose a plastic cape for doing hair permanents that has fastening tape rather than snaps or clips. They are easier to use, especially if you are doing a hair permanent on yourself and have no one there to help you.

3. Use an old hand towel, that you don't mind messing up, when you do hair permanents. It's best to use the hand towel around your neck in order to provide extra protection. Place the hand towel snugly around your neck (from the back) and place the cape on top. Or, put the cape on first and then tuck the hand towel around the inside edges of the cape.

4. Position the plastic cape snugly around your neck before you begin to put the hair permanent solution on. Make sure that the cape is covering all of your upper body. It is especially important to cover any exposed skin with the cape to prevent the chemicals from irritating your skin.
