The Best Ways To Wear Your Hair Up

A ponytail is a great way to wear your hair up.

Long hair is fun and versatile. One option for styling the hair is putting the hair up. This works well for either curly or straight hair. There are styles to wear your hair up that are casual and dressy, fun or structured. To add drama and sparkle to the styles, use hair accessories.

Chignon

One of the best ways to wear hair up is in a sassy chignon. This style tends to be structured but you can make it playful as well. To create the style, create a ponytail at the crown of the head. Use a crimping iron to crimp the hair that hangs from the ponytail. Pull the hair halfway through the rubber band. The ends of the hair should hang loose. If there are bangs, style them to the side and mist with hairspray.

French Twist

In order to style an edgy French twist, you must have long hair, at least shoulder-length. The modern version of the French twist involves teasing the crown with a rat-tail comb to create volume in the hair. Create two French twists that meet in the middle at the back of your head. Pin the hair into place using decorative clips.

Braid

Put your hair up in a thick, single braid. In order to create this style, the hair should be at least 4 or 5 inches past the shoulder. Use pomade in the hair to create texture before braiding it. Braid the hair in a standard braid, not a French braid. Secure the bottom of the braid with a rubber band. Decorative clips or headbands are fun accessories to add.

Ponytail

Ponytails are versatile and easy to wear. Rather than a casual ponytail, dress it up a bit. Tease the hair at the crown in small sections. Spray some hairspray on to hold it. Smooth hair over the teased sections. Sweep the hair back and secure into a low ponytail. Use a straightener or curling iron to style the ponytail.
