Do Finger Twists

Finger twists can be done on nearly every hair length and texture.

Finger twists are one of the most popular and easy-to-achieve natural hairstyles. Versatile and addictive (because you won't be able to keep your hands out of your hair afterward), finger twists can be done on nearly every hair texture and length. The greatest virtue of finger twists is that their formation doesn't have to be precise -- you just twist and go!

Instructions

1. Decide what width you would like your finger twists. Fine hair will require more hair within each twist; thicker hair will require less.

2. Comb your hair with the wide-toothed comb to remove tangles and shed hair. Lightly mist your hair with water, but do not over saturate.

3. Separate a 1/2-inch section of hair on the right side of your hair with the end of a rat-tail comb. Gently comb the section to remove any leftover tangles or shed hair.

4. Dab a small amount of gel on the hair section to be finger twisted. Apply it from root to tip.

5. Twist, or roll the gelled section between your thumb, index and middle finger in a clockwise direction until a roll appears. Roll to the ends to secure the hold.

6. Repeat sectioning, fine-tooth combing, and rolling until your style is complete. Allow to dry. Apply some light oil sparingly for sheen.
