Teen Haircuts For Girls

Long bangs are popular with teen girls now.

In their teens, most girls use their appearance as a way of expressing themselves. When it comes to hair, length, color, shape and maintenance are all important factors for choosing the perfect styles. In 2010, the most fashionable asset in hair is a deep side part and long bangs. This is seen in most all teen girl styles without regard to length choice.

The Bob

The bob resurfaced recently, revamped to feature long, sweeping bangs. Many girls choose to dye a bright colored streak of hair toward the front for a fun, young look. The hair is shortest at the nape of the neck and increasingly longer near the crown. To style, the hair is smoothed and slightly curled with a large curling iron. This style is low maintenance and sassy.

Long and Straight

Lots of teen girls are wearing their hair long and straight with a slight bend in the bangs. This style is seen mostly with a middle part, with bangs that sweep to either side. Some girls have their hair extended in the back to achieve the preferred length past the shoulders. To achieve this style, a flat iron is used to straighten and slightly bend the hair to give it the desired shape. This style is higher maintenance because of the length and styling time needed depending on natural hair texture.

Tousled Curls

Those who choose to wear their hair curly often opt for long locks with large, loose curls for a relaxed, tousled look. For many, this look is harder to create because of natural hair textures. If the hair is naturally straight and thin, hair is added and then curled individually with a large curling iron. For naturally curly hair, the hair may need straightening first, then curling to get the desired size of curl. Excessive heat styling can be damaging to the hair and also extends the styling time. Another way to achieve tousled curls is to apply setting lotion, then twist the hair while wet and allow to dry. Both techniques take a lot of effort, but for many girls the look is worth the work.

Mohawk

In 2008 the Mohawk style started to resurface. Many celebrities started adorning asymmetrical styles and Mohawks with designs cut in the sides of the hair. The style features long hair down the center of the head with the sides cut short, almost shaved. This and other asymmetrical looks are still prominent with teen girls, though they are becoming less popular. These styles are low maintenance and generally quickly styled with hair products.
