Shave Hair

Do you know someone who wants a buzz-cut hairstyle, but doesn't feel like going to a hair stylist or barber to have it done? After reading this article, you'll be able to offer your hair shaving services.

Instructions

1. Set up an area to shave the hair. Preferably find a room with a hard floor surface (such as bathroom or unfinished basement). You may even consider playing the barber outside. If you do choose a carpeted room, lay a towel or sheet on the floor underneath where you will be shaving, and be prepared with a vacuum cleaner.

2. Find out how close of a shave your brave customer wants and attach the necessary guard attachment onto the shaver. Many hair shaving kits come with six guard attachments with differing lengths ranging from 1 to 1/8 inch (these are numbered from 6 to 1, with 1 being the lowest setting). For a traditional buzz-cut, a No. 2 guard may be the ticket (1/4 inch). Communicate with the person before you shave any hair. You don't want a disgruntled customer.

3. Turn the razor on and commence shaving. When shaving with a guard, make sure to keep the flat part of the guard flat with and even with the head as you pass each curve of the head. Start from the back of the head and work your way up, from one side (right or left) of the head to the other. Make sure to be careful of the ears.

4. Shave from every direction and trim around the ears with scissors. You may notice as you are shaving the hair, that some of the hairs are coming out at different lengths. This is because some of the hairs lie different than the others, and therefore you must shave the hair from different directions to get them all at the same length.

5. Stand back and take a look. Clean up uneven hairs with the shaver. Be thorough as you stand back and review your work. Take your time to make sure all the hair looks right all around the head. Run your hand through the hair so you can catch any hairs that may be "hiding" by lying down on the head.

6. Have your customer look at his hair in the mirror. Ask if he likes it or if he would like it shorter or styled differently.
