Hold small braids in place with rubber bands.
When you braid your hair, you must secure the braid on the end to keep it from unraveling. One way to do this is to tie a piece of ribbon or string in a bow around the bottom of the braid. If you don't have ribbon or string, you can use a rubber band. Visit a drugstore or beauty supply store to find a variety of small rubber bands in various colors and look for a slick no-pull band for tangle-free removal.
Instructions
1. Hold onto the end of the braid with one hand.
2. Slip the end of the braid into an unstretched rubber band.
3. Press one side of the rubber band against your braid to hold it in place. With the other hand, stretch the rubber band away from your hair and twist it 180 degrees. It will look like a figure 8.
4. Slip the loop you just twisted around the braid again. You will now have two loops of rubber band around your hair.
5. Continue pulling the band away from the braid, twisting the band and slipping the twisted portion over the braid with one hand, while still holding the braid with the other hand. When you can't stretch the band any more, your braid is secure and will stay.
