Celebrity Half Updo Hairstyles

Create an celebrity-inspired updo for your medium-length or long hair.

If you want to style your hair like a celebrity, you'll need insider secrets to create that "red carpet" look. Luckily, a celebrity half updo style is a hairstyle that the novice beautician can reproduce at home. Using the right products and a little practice, you can mold and style your medium or long hair into an updo for a special event or party.

Reverse Updo

If you have long hair, gather the hair above your ears into a high ponytail. Allow the remaining hair around the nape of your neck to fall down towards your shoulders. Secure the hair with a covered elastic band that matches your natural hair color. Make spiral curls in the ponytail with a 2 inch curling iron. Comb the ponytail with your fingers to release the curls. Mist with a medium-hold hairspray to set the look.

Bouffant Half-Updo

Straighten hair from the mid-shaft to the ends with a flat-iron. Take the hair above the ears and create two sections of hair above and below the ears. Gently tease the hair in the crown to build the base for the bouffant shape and create volume. Pull hair around the ears back to create a full, loose crown by twisting and pinning the hair with bobby pins. Spray hair with a light-hold hairspray to complete the style.

Updo with Bangs

Brush your bangs forward with a paddle brush. Pull hair around the ears back towards the crown of your hair. Secure the hair with a jeweled barrette for an evening look. Curl the back of your hair near the nape to add soft and sculpted waves to the style. For women with long hair, toss the hair below your ears over your shoulder for another variation of the half updo. Keep the style in place with a few squirts of medium-hold hairspray.
