Bleach Hair That Is Dyed Black

Black hair can be bleached blond with the proper products.

Many people use black hair dye to temporarily darken the color of their natural hair and end up deciding the color is not what they had in mind. Although most hair dyes begin to fade from the hair within several weeks, you may choose to bleach hair that is dyed black if you want to dye your hair a lighter color immediately. Since overlapping bleach on previously-dyed hair may cause hair loss and damage, oxidative hair color remover, which removes artificial pigments, must also be used during the bleaching process.

Instructions

1. Protect your hands and clothing with plastic gloves and a cape.

2. Apply oxidative hair color remover to the hair, following the directions included on the box. Oxidative hair color removes dyed pigments from hair without affecting natural pigments.

3. Pour enough hair bleach powder to cover your whole head into a plastic, disposable bowl. Gradually pour in the liquid hair peroxide, stirring the lumps out with a plastic spoon until you get a thick consistency that is similar to gravy.

4. Comb the hair thoroughly with a wide-tooth comb to remove any knots or tangles.

5. Divide your hair into about eight to 10 equal sections depending on length and thickness, then secure each section with a plastic hair clip. Leave one section nearest the nape of the neck free. You will be applying the bleach to the back of the head where the dye is typically darkest first.

6. Apply the bleach mixture to the section of hair with a hair dyeing brush, working quickly to evenly and thoroughly distribute the product.

7. Repeat step 6 until the bleach mixture has been applied to each section of hair.

9. Rinse the bleach from your hair using a shampoo for color-treated hair.
