Pick An Over 50 Hairstyle

Being over 50 means you've probably developed your own style, or at least know what works for you and what doesn't. Choosing a new hairstyle for a new time of life doesn't mean giving in to age, it just means taking a few steps to make sure it works.

Instructions

1. Think about the age issue, and decide how you feel about it. You have your own feelings about being over 50, but style attitudes have changed a great deal. Good over-50 style is not necessarily "anything goes," but a lot more goes than it used to.

2. Examine your lifestyle. Work, social obligations and the time to fuss with hair are important factors. You must get your hair out of the way for recreation such as tennis, golf, skiing and workouts.

3. Look at celebrity hairstyles of those who are over 50. They often have the best professional advice, so look for celebrities with similar facial features to your own whose hairstyles you admire. Some websites let you to upload your own picture and "try on" hairstyles.

4. Check out several different hairstyles, and choose a few you like. Add these to the celebrity choices, and make a gallery of ideas.

5. Ask for professional advice. Tell your stylist to be honest. See if any from your gallery of hairstyle choices works on your face, with your hair type and color. Most stylists try to steer you away from bad decisions.

6. Keep it real. Have confidence in your own style.
