Do Pinup Curls

The retro look of pin-up curls looks even more snazzy when mixed with modern attire.

Whether or not you have naturally curly hair, you have probably marveled at the clean stylish look of the pin-up curls from the 1940s and 1950s. This retro look has resurfaced and you might be glad to know that they are quite simple to create. Not only are pin-curls elegant and classy, they are much more comfortable to sleep on than typical rollers and you will not have damage your hair with a hot curling iron.

Instructions

1. Comb your hair thoroughly to eliminate knots and tangles.

2. Create a defined part in your hair wherever you desire.

3. Begin with a 1-inch section or smaller if you prefer a smaller curl. Spray the section with water and comb it if necessary.

4. Twist the section of hair as you wrap it around the index finger of your free hand. Wrap the curl around your finger until you reach the end. Hold the curl in place and carefully remove your finger.

5. Tuck the end of the section of hair inside the curl and secure it with one or more bobby pins.

6. Repeat the process, sectioning your hair in a regular pattern. Once all of your hair has been pinned into curls, spray your entire head with hairspray.

7. Ensure that the curls are very secure if you plan to sleep with them in. Otherwise, dry the curls with a hair dryer until they are completely dry.

8. Remove the bobby pins from the curls one at a time. Spray your hair with hairspray once the pins have been removed.
