Seal Kinky Twist Ends

Kinky twists are the perfect hairstyle for African American women on-the-go.

Kinky twists are a style of hair extensions worn by many African American women as a protective to preserve their natural hair. Kinky twists offer wash-and-go convenience, eliminating the need for harsh styling practices. Worn for a period of up to two months, these twists allow the natural hair to thrive and grow. To ensure kinky twists last, and don't unravel, learn simple tips on sealing the ends to keep them secure.

Instructions

1. Roll the ends of three or four kinky twists into a medium-sized perm rod. Continue this process until the whole head of kinky twists is rolled with perm rods.

2. Place a thick towel around your neck and shoulders to protect them during the sealing process.

3. Bring a saucepan of hot water to a boil on the stove. Carefully pour hot water into a huge coffee mug. A mug with a thick wide handle that you can grip easily is advised.

4. Keep an extra towel handy to squeeze excess water from the hair.

5. Dip each perm rod section of kinky twists into the mug of hot water very carefully for a few seconds and then remove. Immediately squeeze the section of hair dry with the extra towel while perm rods are still in the hair. Ensure the towel around your neck and shoulders remains in place at all times to prevent hot water from coming into contact with your skin.

6. Leave perm rods in the hair for one to two hours to let the hair set. Remove perm rods. The curled kinky twist ends are locked in place, preventing them from unraveling.
