Style Curly Hair For School

Curled hair is fun and youthful.

Day in and day out, you go to school and see the same people. To keep things fresh, experiment with different hairstyles and clothes. If you usually wear your hair straight, experiment with curled hairstyles to add interest and variety. Curled styles look as though they took a lot of time to achieve, but they are actually relatively easy to pull off.

Instructions

Curly Ponytail

1. Tease the hair at the top and gently smooth over the teased portion with a small comb. Brush the hair toward the top back portion of the head and gather together, being careful not to disturb the volume created from teasing. Leave a few strands down around the face and secure the rest of the hair with a hair band.

2. Apply a heat protectant to the hair in the ponytail and around the face with a spray, or use your fingers to lightly distribute a cream.

3. Curl the hair with a heated curling iron in one-inch sections until all the hair in the ponytail is in curled ringlets. Curl the hair left down around the face. Gently separate the curls with your fingers and top with hairspray.

Beachy Curls

4. Apply a volumizing mousse to clean, wet hair, scrunching at the top to create body. Blow-dry the hair by using a round brush.

5. Curl the hair in 1 to 2-in. sections with a wide-barrel curling iron. Hold the curling iron upside down so the handle points toward the ceiling. Wrap the hair section by section around the iron and clamp it shut. Hold for several seconds and release. Alternate the direction of the curling iron for each hair section, so the clamp faces the opposite way. This will create opposite curls that look unplanned.

6. Dip your fingers into a styling/texturizing cream and lightly distribute through the curls. According to Latest Hairstyles, this hairstyle emphasizes larger, wavy curls with lots of definition, so the use of a styling/texturizing cream is helpful.

Long Curls

7. Purchase clip-in hair extensions from a local beauty supply store to match the color of your hair. Make sure they are either real hair or curlable. Apply the extensions by clipping them onto your real hair.

8. Curl the hair in 1- to 2-in. sections with a heated curling iron. Hold the iron upside down so the handle points toward the ceiling, wrap the hair around the heated portion, and clamp. Hold for several seconds and release. This creates natural-looking spirals that are not too tight.

9. Apply a shine serum to the hair and top with a light-hold hairspray.

Half-Up Curls

10. Curl your hair with the curling iron in 1- to 2- in. sections.

11. Tease hair at the crown to create volume, and smooth over with a small comb.

12. Gather the hair on the sides and top and pull toward the top back of the head, creating volume where the hair was teased. Secure with stylish pins and top with a light-hold hairspray.
