Help A Perm Be Less Frizzy

Maintain your healthy-looking curls with extra conditioning.

If you have recently got a perm for wavy or curly hair, you might notice it becomes frizzy. This might be due to many reasons such as the humidity, the products you use and how you style it. By making small changes in your daily hair care routine, you can replace much of the frizz your curls have with bouncy, healthy-looking hair.

Instructions

1. Wash your hair at least every other day with a shampoo and conditioner specifically formulated for chemically treated hair. This combination will keep your curls well moisturized and avoid frizz from your hair being dry.

2. Towel-dry your hair after you get out of the shower or bath, avoiding rubbing your hair too much with the towel. Apply a leave-in conditioner daily, whether to wet or dry hair and use only a comb or pick.

3. Apply an anti-frizz serum before your leave-in conditioner on days that are especially humid or whenever your curls have high levels of frizz.

4. Apply a deep-conditioning treatment to your hair weekly. Start with twice a week if your curls are very frizzy following the perm or in harsh weather conditions. Once your curls become more healthy and manageable, decrease it to once a week.

5. Avoid using hair styling products that use heat, as these can damage your hair and cause frizzy curls. This includes blow dryers, curling irons and hair straighteners. Let your hair air dry whenever possible, or use a diffuser on your blow dryer.
