Diy Formal Hairstyles

Whether celebrating an event like a wedding, family get-together, holiday party, or business celebration, women often feel want to a more formal look for their hair. Formal hairstyles can include a sophisticated or trendy updo or some minor variations to an everyday style that you can do yourself.

Down

Some women prefer to wear their hair down. Luckily, there are formal looks that allow you to wear your hair down.

Use spiral hot rollers to get trendy ringlets. Shake your while using hairspray for volume after removing the rollers.

Pull any style or length of hair back at the crown, securing it with a comb. Leave small ringlets at the forehead and ears for a ultra feminine look.

Straighten shoulder-length or longer hair with a flatiron. For volume, flip the hair over and spray with hairspray. Flip it back and work it into place with the fingers. Push behind the ears for 60's glamour.

Add loose waves to any hair length by spraying it with salt water. Scrunch the hair as it dries to achieve the desired waves. Accent the style with hair jewelry or flowers.

Pulled Back

Celebrities use red carpet events to showcase glamorous styles, which often means pulling the hair back rather than up.

Use styling gel to slick medium to long hair back into a sleek ponytail, a sophisticated French twist or a chignon.

Flatiron medium hair and roll it over into the shape of a 'u' for a chic 40's look. Use rhinestone hair combs to lock hair securely into place. Add ringlets to soften and update the style.

Pull medium to long wavy hair back into a low ponytail. Keep pieces of the side hair loose to soften the look.

Pull hair to one side, securing with a ponytail holder or hair comb. Pull strands loose at both sides for a soft romantic feel.

Use oversize hot rollers to add waves to short hair. Work the curls loose with the fingers before pinning it back. Accent the look with beautiful hair jewels or flowers.

The Updo

Whether hair is straight, wavy or curly, a beautiful updo is always possible.

Pull curly hair up and to one side, slicking it close around the crown. Accent it with hair jewels.

Secure medium or longer hair up at the back with a large barrette. Fluff curls or waves for a natural look or slick it back for more sophistication. Pull strands of hair loose at the top and sides.

Pull straight, medium length hair into a ponytail on top of the head. Secure it over a bun. Accent the severe look with softer curls at the side.
