Wedding Hairstyles With Lily Flowers

Select your favorite lily to accent your wedding hairstyle.

A variety of lilies can be incorporated into a wedding hairstyle, such as orange lilies, calla lilies and lily of the valley. Coordinate the lily with the other wedding flowers and colors to keep the flowers from clashing with the wedding dress. Whether the hair is worn up or down, a lily hair piece can be used to tie the look together.

Bun

A bun can be formal and simple like a ballerina bun, or it can be a messy bun ideal for a casual wedding. Place your hair into a ponytail. Tightly twist the ponytail for a simple, but classic bun. For a messy bun, do not coil the hair as tightly. Pin lilies all around the bun or just to one side. Or decorate a comb with lilies and slip it in above the bun.

Chignon

A chignon is an updo that gathers curls around the nape of your neck. Start by curling your hair in spiral curls. Then push them all to one side. Hold them in place with a few hairpins. Grab sections of hair and pin them around the first pins to hide them. Let the curls fall as they may to create a beautiful hairstyle of cascading curls. Add a few lily hairpins to the top or side of the chignon just above the ear.

Ponytail

To make an elegant ponytail hairstyle for a wedding, start by making a ponytail either high, low, or to one side. Grab a one-inch section and wrap it around the base of the ponytail to cover the elastic band. Then pin the hair down. Pin a silk or real lily on one side of the ponytail. Keep in mind how you will be photographed and where you will be standing during the ceremony as you position the ponytail and lily.

Half Up, Half Down

Accent a half-up and half-down hairstyle with lilies. Add a headband adorned with silk lilies, which can be worn with practically any half-up, half-down hairstyle. To pin a lily around a bun or ponytail, trim the stems and glue the bloom to the end of a hair clip or comb (they can also be glued to the ends of hairpins). Curl the hair or leave it straight for this look.

Different Sorts Of Hair Rollers For Perms

The tightness of curl or looseness of a wave in a perm is determined by the type of hair roller, or perm rod, used. When using thinner rods, more curl will be the outcome, and when using larger, thicker rods, the less curl and more waves will be the result.

Red

Red is the thinnest type of roller and should only be used on extremely short hair resulting in very tight, springy curls.

Blue

The second-thinnest roller, blue can be used to wave shorter hairstyles or produce tight curls on very short hairstyles.

Pink

Pink can be used to wave or curl hair that is anywhere from 2 1/2 inches to 4 inches long, resulting in waves on shorter hair and tight to somewhat medium curls on the latter.

Gray

The gray rollers are in the middle of the spectrum from thin to thick. Gray rods produce medium-sized curls on hair lengths up to 5 inches long.

White

White perm rollers are the second thickest. These rollers will give body to short hair, and will wave and curl hair that is as long as 7 inches.

Purple

The thickest perm roller, purple will add softer waves and body to hair less than 6 inches in length. On hair that is longer than 6 inches, these rollers will create curl.

Shoulderlength Hairstyles

Shoulder-length hair can be transformed into almost any style. It's short enough that it doesn't require hours of styling and long enough to pull back and away from your face when you're in a rush and on the go. Add versatility to your look by adding either straight or side-sweeping bangs. Even a few highlights around the face will add a new twist to your look.

Free-Flowing Looks

Whether shoulder-length hair is cut into a blunt bob or long flowing layers, the proper technique in blowing out hair can make you look as if you've just visited the salon. Some simple products and tools you'll need include shine serum, a comb with a tail, a clip, a round brush and a blow-dryer.

Apply a dime-sized amount of shine serum to towel-dried hair and blow dry on medium-high heat until hair is almost completely dry. Using the tail end of your comb, section off the bottom layer of hair and clip the remainder up. Wrap hair by 1-inch sections around your round brush. If you want hair flipped out, wrap the round brush over the hair and blow dry from underneath. If you want a more traditional turned-under look, wrap hair over the round brush and blow dry from above the brush. Continue drying 1-inch sections, releasing one layer of hair at a time and repeating the process until all sections are complete.

If you have bangs, wear them curled under and falling into your brows or swept across the forehead for a romantic look. Apply a few drops of shine serum to hair for a polished sheen.

Wavy Locks

For a classic, glamorous look, go with a dramatic side part with cascading curls. You'll need a set of hot rollers, a comb with a tail and hairspray. Part dry hair to the side you prefer. Section off 1-inch sections of hair with your comb and roll onto hot rollers, turning away from the face.

At the part, roll one roller in one direction and the other side of the part in the opposite, both rolled away from the face. Align rollers in a straight line from the front of hair to the nape of the neck, with 3 rollers on each side of the head.

Once the rollers have cooled completely, remove them and work out waves with fingers. Apply a light mist of hairspray all over to hold the curls in place.

Classic Updos

Fun and simple updos can be done with either curly or straight shoulder-length hair. Adding accessories, such as a sparkly headband, will add sizzle to your look.

Create a simple knotted bun. Begin by gathering hair at the nape of the neck and securing with an elastic band. Wrap the loose ponytail around the band and secure with a few small bobby pins. Either tuck ends in completely or leave a few tendrils out for a playful look.

Women'S Short Curly Hair Styles

Short, curly hair is the most versatile in terms of hairstyling options. Curls can look spunky or downright glamorous, depending on what is done with them, and shorter hair can look youthful and frame the face. Four specific hairstyles for short, curly hair can take a woman through any occasion.

Bob

If you need an everyday look that looks simultaneously fun and professional, try a bob. The length of the hair lets the curls fall naturally around the face and thus looks more businesslike; yet with a little styling gel or spray to keep away frizz, bobbed curls also give the impression of life and volume, debunking the idea that you are all work and no play. The bob can be worn with any outfit, so there's no need to "let your hair down" after work or to pin it back up for the date you have later in the evening.

Messy Curls and Frizz

If your short, naturally curly hair is a bit on the wild side, don't hide it---utilize it. Try putting a little gel on your fingers and then running it haphazardly through your curls. This cute, messy look shows that even though appearance may be important, it isn't going to control you---you are the master of your life. If you are adventurous and your hair frizzes constantly, go ahead and go high fashion, making your frizz a statement. The benefit of embracing the untamed nature of your hair is that you are free to accept other wilder areas of fashion, as well (think leopard prints here).

Bang Sweep

If you need a look that is glamorous, try a bang sweep. To achieve this look, glitz up your curls by carefully separating them with gel or hair spray---this makes the curls distinct and adds shine and control. Straighten a few curls in the very front and sweep them tightly across the forehead, away from your part. Then tuck the straightened strands underneath the hair on that side of your head and tuck them behind your ear. Secure them with a thin clip, cloth or hard headband, or a few bobby pins. Once this is done, you can add just a touch of glitter spray if desired.

Pixie

If you don't like fussing with your curls, cut your curls super short. They will curl naturally around the scalp, giving contour and volume, yet they are short enough to be out of the way, require no clips or other accessories, and take less time to comb or brush through. When you do want to add a little more attention to your hair, you can tease the curls up a bit with gel to gain some volume.

What Are The Dangers Of Getting A Perm

What Are the Dangers of Getting a Perm?

While you might think that a perm is the ideal way to get a head full of lush curls and volume, there are some dangers associated with getting a perm. It's true that perms can give you curlier hair, but in the process, a perm can severely damage your hair as well.

Scalp Damage

Although the permanent solution is applied to the hair, some may inadvertently be applied to your scalp through sloppy application or by accident. This solution is made up of a highly potent ammonium thioglycolate chemical solution, which can be irritating to some users, and cause itching, redness, burning and peeling.

Hair Damage

Because of the strength of the ammonium thioglycolate solution, many find their hair texture changed after using it. Ammonium thioglycolate can dry out the hair, leaving it brittle and more susceptible to breakage. The only way to fix this problem is to grow the hair out and cut off the damaged portion.

Lack of Hair Regrowth

Some perm users realize that their hair is cracked and damaged, and then wait patiently for new hair regrowth to replace the damaged hair. However, some may find that the chemicals have actually inhibited new hair growth.

Texture Change

While a perm seeks to change the texture of your hair by causing it to go from straight to curly, you may find that this texture change is permanent, rather than lasting a few months, as most perms are supposed to. Some users find that they went from straight hair, to permed hair, to permanently frizzy hair after the perm. If you don't mind your hair's texture as it is, choose another, less severe way to curl your hair, such as a curling iron or three barrel waver.

Pain

Some perm users may find that heading to the salon to receive a perm can be a painful procedure. Not only can the ammonium thioglycolate solution burn the scalp during application, but the hair has to be tightly wound in curlers when it's been applied. This can be a painful process, as the curlers must be placed tightly to the scalp, and can cause pulling or tearing of the hair.

Hydrate Dry Skin Easily

say hello to hydration!

Dry skin may cause uncomfortable itching and could be symptomatic of a skin-related medical problem. However, high temperatures, low humidity, bodily dehydration and harsh fabrics or soaps will have a negative effect on your skin's moisture levels. Adjusting your grooming and nutritional intake habits will help ease common dry skin issues.

Instructions

1. Consume at least eight 8-oz. glasses of water per day. Limit the consumption of fluids that have diuretic properties, such as coffee and alcohol.

2. Eat foods that contain anti-oxidants. Anti-oxidant rich foods include tomatoes, nuts, beans and green leafy vegetables. Consider reducing red meat intake in favor of fish.

3. Replace your existing soaps or body wash products in favor of mild alternatives, specifically designed for moisturizing skin. Avoid using harsh soaps that dry the skin.

4. Avoid taking hot showers or baths lasting longer than 15-minutes, and reduce the water temperature you usually use.

5. Apply moisturizing lotion or baby oil immediately after bathing or showering. Baby oil and moisturizing lotion will provide a suitable barrier, designed to retain skin moisture. Reapply the moisturizer several times a day, as needed.

Create An Elegant Ponytail Curl Updo

Create an Elegant Ponytail Curl Updo

Creating elegant hairstyles can be as easy as putting your hair in a ponytail. This updo and other hairstyle variations can be created with just a ponytail and some curlers or a curling iron to add an elegant touch. Decide where to place your ponytail updo--at the nape of the neck, the middle of the head, the top of the head or to the side--and start curling.

Instructions

1. Put mousse or gel in your hair or wait one day after washing hair, to get hair that is easier to work with and less soft and fluffy.

2. Pull your hair back into a ponytail in the desired spot for your updo. The nape of the neck is an elegant choice, but if you have very long hair or a lot of hair you may want to do a high ponytail. Part your hair on the side and then pull back into a ponytail for a more fashionable look in the front.

3. Use a hair band that is the same color as your hair. Secure any lumps or loose strands with bobby pins. If the hair band is not the same color as your hair, take one small section of hair and loop it around the ponytail to cover the band. Secure with a pin.

4. Use curlers or a curling iron to curl small sections of the hair in the ponytail, one section at a time. After curling the section, use your fingers to create a loose loop that hides the ends of the hair and clip it just above the ponytail.

5. Continue to create loose loops and clip them around the entire ponytail. If necessary, clip loops on top of one another until you are finished clipping all of your hair into the updo.

6. Leave the ends of some or all of the loops loose instead of tucking them under if you have very long hair and want to create some variety or have some stray curls in the updo.

7. Hairspray the finished style.
